Another Tuesday morning, planning for another run. Nice thing about this morning: my weather widgets all tell me that it's 48F, wow! That's practically shorts running weather! Well, I have capris I'll probably wear. Still, it's nice to see April being April vs before when "April had a blizzard, just to show she did not care." (via Dar Williams)
I made pesto last night which I haven't done in a while. I didn't have a lot of basil, so I made it with a mix of basil and tarragon. Still pretty delicious. Hubs said it was a bit sweet though, so next time a bit more pepper or parmesan I think. Or maybe thyme?
Today is a pretty typical day. My sleep feels like it's back to normal, woohoo! I have a ton to work on at work, but that's getting to be typical too.
I do have a Tuesday tip for you: stay busy! You are more likely to munch randomly just sitting around with no agenda. When I'm doing things I enjoy, I don't even think about food.
Just so you know, things I enjoy include my third try at the accordion last night, hehehe. I want my own, but a half-size one.
Okay, time to do, you know, stuff.

So, I didn't blog yesterday, but in my defense, I blog first thing in the morning and since I took a red-eye flight back from San Diego, the whole morning concept was mighty screwy.
Anyway, I did a bunch of errand catching up yesterday, but no real exercise. Today is a fast day which should feel great after eating all the weekend/travel junk.
Man, I am still tired this morning. I think it is going to take today to get back on schedule. Well, I guess that means I need to get some exercise going on this morning. Yes. Definitely. I think I need some inspiration too, so it's either going to be to House or Castle. Mmmm, Nathan Fillion.
Also, it's Motivational Monday!
" Every great success is an accumulation of thousands of ordinary efforts that no one else sees or appreciates."
Okay, off to wake myself up and try to do all the stuff I have to do today!

I figured traveling would throw off my sleep schedule, but, wow! I laid down yesterday at 8:30pm PST to take a 20min nap and slept right through my alarm until 2:30am! Of course, this was after my intense day of interview, which was the day after my day of travel which started at 3:20am EST and went through about midnight PST (some naps in there, but mostly on planes). Of course, when you adjust for the time difference, last night I slept from 11:30pm EST to 5:30am EST, which is typical for me. So, at 2:30 I got up for about an hour or so, and then slept for another hour and a half and got up again a little while ago. Today, I will probably not get any naps in, and then I'm taking a red eye out at 9:30pm PST. I should be tired enough from not napping to get decent sleep on the plane, and then get back into my naps normally and go to bed Sunday night at my usual midnight and be back on track, whew!
Normally, I'm a polyphasic sleeper. I sleep at night from a bout 12:30 to 5am, and then I take two naps during the day, one around noon and one around 8pm. Yes, it's kind of strange, and it took a lot of adjusting, but I like it. The only problem is that I get into situations where I can't nap (like this trip and interview) and then I get behind and have to catch up, like last night. Anyway, I have more info on polyphasic sleep on my blog if you're curious wp.me/pRWqn-hs
Okay, so. The interview went as they typically go, I'm a good interviewer and I give a good research presentation. Today, I get to hang with friends and have a blast exploring San Marcos and San Diego and probably learn a new board game. That excited me a lot.
In terms of food this weekend, don't ask. These trips destroy me and I know it. In terms of exercise, I only ended up doing 2 miles yesterday and I'm going to do another 3-4 today, especially since I found a nice running trail and have time today. I'm hoping to be too busy all day to think much about food, although I will be landing in Newark, NJ for my layover in the morning and this Jersey Girl is getting her Garden State Diner breakfast tomorrow. I hope they have lox!!
Okay, time to finish some stuff, do some running, pack my crap, and get moving!

So, I'm hanging out in Southern California. Well, hanging out isn't quite the right word. I have a job interview from 9am to about 8pm. Tomorrow, I get to hang out.
Right now, I need to decide whether I'm going to run outside or inside. The area the hotel is in isn't exactly residential, but the weather is so nice and I hate treadmills. I have to do a little over 4 miles to reach my 30 miles by 4/2 goal, so I have to run somewhere!
Okay, this is going to be short and sweet because I have to prepare for the interview, run, shower, eat, and drive to campus. Whew! See you all tomorrow.

Yup, you heard that correctly, it is 5am and I'm at the airport. Heading down to San Diego for another job interview, my 8th interview in 2011. I'd like one of these jobs now, thanks.
Anyway. Yesterday was karaoke which was awesome as usual. I only had one drink and I shared part of it with a friend. Actually, the drink has a story. I made cupcakes last night for a friend of mine who's defending her dissertation on Friday. They were blood orange, ginger, and coconut cupcakes with a blood orange and coconut frosting, and I brought a bunch to karaoke to share and they were a huge hit. One of my friends said they went really well with his Captain and coke, and we were like, interesting, what if the cupcakes were a drink? So the drink is Captain Morgan's spiced rum, Malibu coconut rum, and ginger brandy over ice topped with OJ and with a splash of grenadine. Yum! Interestingly enough: both the cupcakes and the drink are gluten-free and dairy-free!
So, today I'm fasting for most of the day. This works really well when flying because then I don't have to worry about having snack or finding food. I figure I stopped eating/drinking about 10pm last night, and I'm heading to the West coast, so if I make it all the way to 5-7pm out there that's my 24 hours. We'll see. I should be plenty busy and distracted with the whole being in San Diego thing. I've never been there before so it's pretty exciting.
It's Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful for airports with internet so I can blog like I'm supposed to!
Okay, let's see what else I can finish before my plane boards.
