So, I'm hanging out in Southern California. Well, hanging out isn't quite the right word. I have a job interview from 9am to about 8pm. Tomorrow, I get to hang out.
Right now, I need to decide whether I'm going to run outside or inside. The area the hotel is in isn't exactly residential, but the weather is so nice and I hate treadmills. I have to do a little over 4 miles to reach my 30 miles by 4/2 goal, so I have to run somewhere!
Okay, this is going to be short and sweet because I have to prepare for the interview, run, shower, eat, and drive to campus. Whew! See you all tomorrow.

Yup, you heard that correctly, it is 5am and I'm at the airport. Heading down to San Diego for another job interview, my 8th interview in 2011. I'd like one of these jobs now, thanks.
Anyway. Yesterday was karaoke which was awesome as usual. I only had one drink and I shared part of it with a friend. Actually, the drink has a story. I made cupcakes last night for a friend of mine who's defending her dissertation on Friday. They were blood orange, ginger, and coconut cupcakes with a blood orange and coconut frosting, and I brought a bunch to karaoke to share and they were a huge hit. One of my friends said they went really well with his Captain and coke, and we were like, interesting, what if the cupcakes were a drink? So the drink is Captain Morgan's spiced rum, Malibu coconut rum, and ginger brandy over ice topped with OJ and with a splash of grenadine. Yum! Interestingly enough: both the cupcakes and the drink are gluten-free and dairy-free!
So, today I'm fasting for most of the day. This works really well when flying because then I don't have to worry about having snack or finding food. I figure I stopped eating/drinking about 10pm last night, and I'm heading to the West coast, so if I make it all the way to 5-7pm out there that's my 24 hours. We'll see. I should be plenty busy and distracted with the whole being in San Diego thing. I've never been there before so it's pretty exciting.
It's Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful for airports with internet so I can blog like I'm supposed to!
Okay, let's see what else I can finish before my plane boards.

I made the best dinner last night! It was a pasta dish with a white sauce made from almond milk and an Italian 4 cheese blend (mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, romano) with Italian sausage, pieces of broccoli and cauliflower, diced tomatoes, and roasted chunks of red pepper and garlic. Delicious! I think I'll call it sausage and garlic alfredo primavera.
I also did my run, which felt pretty good and in the evening I did yoga. How's that for getting stuff done? Today is a Kinect day, so I'll have to get on that after this. I did have trouble keeping focused and functioning without sugar yesterday, but once I let myself have the sugar I got a bunch of job applications and blog stuff done, so that's good.
Also, tonight is karaoke night! I think I may sing U2's Where the Streets Have No Names, No Doubt's Don't Speak, and I have a plan to duet My Eyes from Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog with a friend of mine.
So, it's WOOHOO WEDNESDAY! That means celebrating victories in our lives, big or small. My Woohoo is that I'm blogging again. Definite victory for me. I need to stay in contact with my little social network or I will isolate myself into thinking things don't matter.

So, you want to talk about getting out of your comfort zone yesterday, I went to our local jazz group and played the accordion: for the second time ever! It's awfully fun, and kind of a crazy instrument, especially when you are playing by ear with no lead sheets to begin with! I totally need an accordion, even a small one.
Okay, anyway. I did my kinect yesterday, woohoo! Today I have to hop on the Wii and weigh myself, so let me go do that now.
164. That could have been much worse! Good thing I keep up the fasting and such. At some point I need to actually improve my eating habits, but I just read an article on lifehacker about comfort food being good for mental health lifehacker.com/#!5786518/comf
-despite-its-fat-content , and my mental health is just barely holding on with the stress, so I'm not going to flip out about it.
I am running today. Getting closer to my 30 miles by April 2nd goal. Then I will need a new goal for April. Maybe another 30 miles, maybe 40?
Okay, gotta run, lots to to do today. Gotta swing over to UPS and pick up our new Nintendo 3DS, gotta make lunch/breakfast, gotta finish blog articles and set up a giveaway, oh, and I have work and job stuff too!
Just one more thing. It's Tuesday which is tip day! My Tuesday tip for you is try something new in the kitchen. Diets get boring when you eat the same things. Yesterday, I made a version of tortillas de papitas. It wasn't perfect, but it was new and interesting.

Happy Monday morning!
Okay, so for most people what I just said is an oxymoron, still, it's Monday. Yesterday wasn't half bad. I only ran two miles because I convinced the husband who hasn't run since early December to come with me. He did good for being a bit out of shape. This morning, when I'm done with you, I'm going to get on YourShape Fitness for a bit.
I have lots to do today, as is the usual in my life lately. I have to sample my experiment at work and do some more job apps for sure. I definitely need to stay focused today, which has been a struggle lately. I'll probably go with mini-rewards. Finish a specific task at work, then give myself five minutes of fanfict writing, hehe!
Since it's Monday, that makes it Motivational Monday! So, here's my motivational thought for today:
