My little sister is a vile temptress. She sits on the couch and says things like "I want ice cream" and "we should go out to dinner, you already cooked one meal today" and "let's make raspberry lemonade bars". They were really, btw, and I ate two and brought them to work. They are gone now.

Fortunately, that's only on the weekend, because we're working during the week, so it's all home-cooked healthy goodness. Still, it's just too easy with her and Daddy's credit card nearby.

I ran this morning, three 15 minute segments. The first two were great, and the last one a bit tough. It has been super humid out, which is killing me, but at least there was a cool breeze at 7am. I'm planning on doing turbulence training tonight as I did Mayhem last night. I also fasted today, little sister or not. That went well as usual.

A bunch of you have asked about my chili, so even though I didn't measure, here's what went into it:

Ground turkey, a can of diced tomatoes, jalapenos, onions, kale, corn, green beans, kidney beans, black beans, white beans, diced zucchini and summer squash, fresh cilantro, a bunch of cumin, a dash of cayenne. It sat in the crockpot for 6 hours, then I topped with lowfat cheese and sour cream.

Tonight, I made cajun ham and rice and beans. In there was a variety of cooking greens from my farm share, a diced hamsteak, diced red and yellow peppers, corn, green beans, kidney beans, wild rice, garlic and onion powder, cajun seasoning, and topped with cheddar cheese.

Today is Motivational Monday! Here is a quote for everyone like me who got way off track this weekend (we might have made Donkey Kong themed sugar cookies):

You donít need endless time and perfect conditions. Do it now. Do it today. Do it for twenty minutes and watch your heart start beating. -Barbara Sher

Okay. I am off to get my heart rate up for 20min or so. How about you?

Onward and upward!

I like chili. I made some tonight for friends who came over to roll a DnD character and play a game of Pandemic. It was loaded with veggies and four different beans. Then we made jalapeno-cheddar cornbread muffins.

This morning my husband wussed out of running, so I did 30 min all by myself. I missed doing anything midday, but I did the Mayhem challenge tonight after the game.

Tomorrow is Friday, yay! Today was Thankful Thursday and I am thankful for cooler, if only slightly, but cooler weather.

Okay. I've been avoiding Wii Fit, hopefully it will be kind tomorrow. Hoping for more time to write soon.

Chili is a favorite of mine! Have a recipe to share?

I love chili but can only eat ones that do not use any canned or, well, non-fresh tomatoes due to preservative sensitivities. I'd love your recipe (and I could modify if needed for tomatoes)!

Glad to hear you did your run even though it was alone! :)

Chili sounds great. Good for you exercising even though hubby wussed out.

Oooo, DO share your chili recipe...?? I LOVE Chili too, and was hoping to find a healthy yummy recipe. Good job with going on the run even without your accompaniment!

My toes hurt. Well, one toe in particular seems to be unhappy and inflamed. I think I need some better socks. Running is quite the sport, I keep buying new stuff for it!

This morning, I ran 20 min, took a break, then ran 26 min. Monday I ran 15 min, 2 min walking, 10 min, 2 min walking, 10 min. Tomorrow is yoga, whew!

I ate pretty terribly this holiday weekend, which was a combination of things including PMS, dropping and breaking most of a dozen eggs, my sister moving in for the summer, and a red white and blue cheesecake. However, I've done worse. I didn't eat until I felt overfull or sick at all. That may sound funny to some of you, but I'm sure there are others who remember the days when you stopped eating at a party not because you were no longer hungry, but because you finally thought the next bite might make you sick. Yeah, I was that person. Not anymore. I'm not yet the person who only has one bite of everything, but I'm working my way there slowly.

I'm still running. Running and running, not stopping. Heat wave, still running. Toe hurts, still running. That's what matters to me right now. Today I registered for the Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 27th, 2011 in Walt Disney World two days after my 29th birthday. It is going to rock!

Okay. Today was back on track, busy, but on track. Tomorrow is my 3rd wedding anniversary and I'm going out to dinner and having wine. Then I'm back on track again. I can start over every day because every little bit helps.

Okay, I'm out!

Onward and upward.

You might need a bigger shoe because they do swell at the end of the day and with the heat it swells faster. Go to a good shoe store in the afternoon or the evening to see if you do need a bigger shoe.

Cherries are yummy. I'm eating them tonight trying to bypass a rather serious ice cream craving. I'm also skipping my evening workout, but I ran this morning (shorter run, only 25ish minutes) and did a midday walk/stairs thing, so I'm good.

I feel like I need something sweeter than cherries. Maybe I'll switch to strawberries next. Maybe I'll make a frozen strawberry-Greek yogurt smoothie thing. Yum.

Okay. Other than food cravings that are probably the start of PMS, I'm doing good.

It's Thankful Thursday and I'm thankful for cooler weather for running and not having to turn on the AC, yay breeze!

I'm off to satisfy my cravings as best I can without diving into sugar.

Onward and upward.

Spiced Butter

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Tonight for dinner I made some yummy stuff! I made an Italian bolognese style sauce with sausage and pureed collards, zucchini, banana peppers, and garlic scapes and just a tiny dash of red chili (like you use to spice Thai food). Then I steamed broccoli and melted some butter and added garlic granules, onion powder, sage, and thyme. It smelled fabulous, although I didn't make enough butter for the broccoli so the taste was less. Next time: more spices.

I did yoga this morning, took a walk this afternoon, and did pilates this evening, so exercise was all win! Stuck to my diet plan. Going to bed soon.

It was WOOHOO Wednesday and I'm celebrating my 45 minutes of running yesterday! Going for a short run tomorrow, 25-30min only. Best thing about running, my hip is no longer bothering me. I'm not sure if it was changing my stride to hit the ball not the heel of my foot or adding padding for my slightly short left leg, or both, but I like it.

Okay. Time to finish Party Down and get some sleep.

Onward and upward!
