I came home early and trekked to my local grocery store today to get more milk for yogurt. I'm trying whole, local milk this time. I'll see if the whole milk yogurt has a different flavor. I'm trying to eat more whole dairy for minimal processing. I had my local, whole, raw milk cheese with snack. It's yummy.
Today was a perfectly on track day. Morning yoga, 2 mile walk round trip to grocery store, second half carrying 10lbs of groceries, and evening Mayhem challenge. Food was all on track. I made a chili for dinner with my farm fresh chard, mmm!
It is WOOHOO Wednesday! I love to celebrate, and my celebration is a great Memorial Day weekend with no fighting (hubs' family can be difficult). What can you celebrate this week?
In Wii Fit news, my gain for the weekend post-fast was 5lbs, ugh. I'm hoping to drop all of that by Sat morning after a second fast on Friday.
Oh, by the way, in the past five days I've eaten like, three oranges. I used to hate oranges. I even ate quite a lot of the tasteless white part. I may have even enjoyed them.
Tomorrow morning is running again after like, a week! Yay!
Okay. Time to go.

Wow, did I drop off the face of the planet there! On Friday, me and hubs left at 6am and drove 8 hours from Western Mass to Erie, PA. Then we spent 4 days with various family members and friends at various events.
Food: well, umm, yeah, that didn't go so well. I ate junk I shouldn't have. I had seconds when I didn't need them. I bought myself cookies. Yeah. Essentially, it was a minimal sleep, high stress, and no good time or place for exercise kind of weekend. I apparently still don't do well with those.
Well, I fasted today and will probably do the same on Friday. I think 2 fasts a week until I go to Disney at the end of the month might just get me through summer even with these bad times.
In good news, I picked up my first weekly farm share today. Lots of wonderful looking chard and mixed greens for salads and bok choy and broccoli and kohlrabi. I've never had kohlrabi, so that's my new one. Not sure what to do with it yet. Can't wait for farm fresh broccoli with raw butter though!
So, I'm behind on everything, including days, so no tip today. I did work out tonight for a grueling 25 minutes, plus 12 min on the bike this morning, and a midday walk, but nothing intense.
Tomorrow I am 100% back on track. Woohoo!
Okay. Time to continue catching up on life. Hoping tomorrow's weigh-in isn't absolutely deadly.

Feta is one of my favoritest cheeses. I just had some local made feta from the farmer's market too! Anyway, tonight I made a dish with a white sauce, only I melted feta into it. Delicious! I put it on chicken, kale, rutabaga, yellow squash, asparagus, and tomatoes all sauteed together in sherry and lemon.
I didn't blog yesterday, so I owe you Tuesday's Tip! It was: each day take baby steps toward your goal, try and be a little better than before. It is from Craig Ballantyne of Turbulence Training, one of my workout programs.
Speaking of workouts, I've done lots of them. Tuesday morning run, afternoon hill walk, evening turbulence training. Today yoga morning, midday stairs and walking, and I just did intervals on the bike.
Eating has been mostly good, though I've been grabbing cherries because I have a bag of them in the fridge. Of course, if all your extra calories are going to fresh cherries, that's not half bad, huh!
Today was WOOHOO Wednesday! I'm celebrating my awesome abs which are now strong enough for straight leg pilates sit-ups and just a bit of handstead holding! What can you celebrate this week?
Okay. Quick and off. Places to go, things to do, I may skip away for an hour of karaoke, we'll see!

Homemade mayo actually. At some point in the past I saw this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz0fL
T_k3_U and I thought that would be pretty cool. Well, tonight I was planning to make something that involved mayo, and I don't have any because I don't use it, so I made some. I put olive oil, red wine vinegar, an egg yolk, and paprika and salt in a tall cup and used my fancy hand blender and suddenly, mayo appeared! It was good too. I made a baked chicken salad type of meal with it. Yummy.
Today was a fast day, and it was another rather easy fast. My body is starting to get used to the idea of not eating for about 23 hours, and just goes ahead without complaining now. I only even had tea once, water sufficed the rest of the day.
I have also done my morning workout and my midday hill climb workout in the warm, sunny weather. A nice break from the cold that is my lab. Science apparently equals cold. Tonight will be another workout, although what I'm not sure. Perhaps Mayhem, or kickboxing, or biking.
I also have to watch the 24 series finale tonight. I am anticipating that it will be almost as disappointing at the Lost finale last night. Oh well. Not everyone can be Battlestar Galactica.
It's Motivational Monday, so here's a quote for you!
“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.”
Oh, by the way, 30 second rant about my scale. Apparently, I gained 6 lbs between Saturday morning and this morning. Really scale? That's just mean. Essentially, the number it showed me puts me back to February. Now, I know it will drop and probably significantly tomorrow, but still. I expect a 2-3lb gain from a day-ish off, not 6!
Okay. Rant over. Normal, optimistic self returned, hooray!
I'm kind of apathetic about what to do tonight that isn't my workout. Maybe I'll write something. Okay. I'm out of here for now.

That's beef heart. I got one from the famer's market, a nice, local, grass-fed beef heart. My husband's family has had heart before, and they made it for me once, and it was good. Anyway, I had been wanting to try since. So I did. I made gluten-free bread stuffing from Pamela's bread mix to go in it and baked it all like a pork chop. I also made gravy from the drippings. It was really good.
Just a note, if you are at all squeamish, don't play with heart. It's big, fat, and bloody. I had a blast. I've done whole, raw chicken too though.
So, today was definitely a high calorie day. Yesterday was only sort of high-ish. Yesterday, we had ice cream, but otherwise stayed mostly on track. Today, I had all kinds of food at church and stuff and a big dinner. I also made fresh apricots cooked in a sauce of butter, balsamic vinegar, and real, local, maple syrup. Those were delicious.
However, I did my yoga this morning. I walked to and from the laundry, and I did my complete hardcore workout tonight. I'm fasting through dinner tomorrow, so I should be set.
I put some new fruits on the dehydrator. Pineapple, cherries, and watermelon. Can't wait to see how they come out!
Well, this was a better than some weekend, but a still could have been better weekend. Sure. I'll take that. Of course, Memorial Day weekend is being spent on vacation at the in-laws, so gotta seriously watch my food then!
Okay. Four day work week ahead of me. Lots to do. Can't wait for a great week!
How about all of you?
