The title is the movie I'm watching. Tom Hanks very, very young in a movie about a game that is a play on D&D. It's quite amusing.

I haven't blogged in forever. Whoops!

Bad things: discovered new flavors of Ben and Jerry's and ate too much of them, no exercise Thursday or Friday night, ate too many of my yummy chocolate cookies, a little bit more home stress than I like

Overall: more good than bad, I'll take it. On to the to do list for tomorrow:

- Figure out job interview stuff
- Figure out plans for Tues night

- Singing practice with accompanist

- Mayhem/Meltdown Workout

Now on to real things. Today was a huge fitness success because I had to run a bunch of errand on campus in the morning and ended up walking for about half an hour before my workday even began! Then I did another 10-15 minutes in the afternoon. That's on top of my morning yoga and what will be my evening workout in about half an hour.

Eating: also good. I made an excellent dish tonight. My husband said it was too sweet, I thought it was perfect. Here it is: recipes.sparkpeople.com/recip

It's WOOHOO Wednesday! My woohoo's for today are that I've gotten back on track so easily after my long trip, on which I made more good then poor choices. Still ate too much, but aimed for fruits and veggies! I'm also feeling fabulous lately, even though the scale may or may not be my friend. What can you celebrate this past week?

My to do list went swimmingly, including two hours of productive microscopy, deadly, but productive. I listened to the entirety of Next to Normal. And sang along. Hehe. My labmates find me amusing.

So, plans for tomorrow:

- AM running
- Prep roast and veggies in crockpot
- Thankful Thursday
- Count all the cells I took pictures of yesterday
- Transfer cultures (no really this time!!)
- Work on manuscript (40 min)
- Figure out Friday blog post
- Midday walk/stairs
- Acetate and iron sampling (yeah, it's a daily thing)
- Get home early enough for 8-12 min of tabatas
- D&D night!! Yay!!! (umm, yeah, geek.)

Okay. Tonight I leave you with a thought from the song I am singing in church in a week and a half: Build my house of love, and paint my house with trusting, and warm it with the warmth of your heart.

    Loved the title and went to the girlsaregeeks website, many of which are my favs too! But we say this particular one ("Tea,Earl Gray, Hot") way too much at our house. Generally followed with: "I feel like a starship captain today" :)

Productivity

Today was very productive. I crossed many things off the to-do list, I ate well, exercised much, and generally feel great, though my hamstrings are going to hurt in the morning!

This is going to be quick tonight because I'm working on a great article for the new geeky blog: girlsaregeeks.wordpress.com , it's about Star Trek. Yeah, I'm like that.

Anyway. Tuesday's Tip: Try new things! You never know when your tastes may change, and you should always try something new. I was reminded tonight of another one I picked just in the last month: corned beef. I used to hate corned beef with boiled veggies the way my mother made it. I made three corned beef dishes, tonight's was a hash with three colored peppers, and I liked all three. Even the Reuben casserole with swiss cheese (which I rarely touch) and sauerkraut (which I've only been eating for about 5 years). Really, try something new and try things again! Every preparation leads to different flavors!

Okay, onto the to do list for tomorrow:

- Morning yoga
- Woohoo Wednesday!
- Post article mentioned above
- Acetate and iron sampling
- Microscopy (must finish!)
- 40 min on manuscript
- Transfer cultures
- Midday walk (hopefully the weather will cooperate, if not, more stairs!)
- Finish counts on computer (must finish!)
- Singing practice (have a date to sing the song now! two weeks!)
- Mediterranean pasta for dinner (sundried tomatoes, asparagus, and feta!)
- Mayhem workout
- Maybe Karaoke?

Okay. Time to finish this article and get some sleep!

Mmm, I think I'll be trying something totally different today: Raw falafal. :) I'm trying to experiment with adding more veggies to my life and I also need easy recipes (which is why most of the raw recipes I can;t make since I don't even have a blender at the moment). Hoping this turns out nice...if it does, I'll post the recipe link :)
I've been sick this past week and almost unable to eat anything...so I'm slowly adding more food, as my poor stomach can take it :(
I'm really going to try and be more active on spark again.

Raw Nuts

I've recently started switching out my old cooked nuts for raw nuts. The idea is that there are enzymes that are destroyed by roasting that are good for you. However, raw nuts also contain some other stuff that's not too good for you, like enzyme deactivators. So, you are meant to soak nuts and then fully dry them and eat them. . Currently, I'm having some issues with the drying part, I think it's about time to invest in a dehydrator! Mmmm, jerky. And gluten-free crackers, dried fruit bars and granola, etc.

Anyway, today went relatively well. I was fasting, with intent to break the fast about 3:30 before walking to a meeting at 4. However, my body had other ideas and I was too unfocused and shaky at 2:15 so I ate then. I think there's something related to the PCOS that makes it difficult to use our fat stores as fuel sometimes, and my body will throw itself into hypoglycemia, which means a pure adrenaline rush, not fun. Anyway, eating worked. It meant I had to also eat my emergency larabar at 5, but that's why I have an emergency larabar!

Oh, it's Motivational Monday! Here is my motivational thought for today:
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

I like that one because it reminds me that what I did last week is not going to completely derail me because I can just start again!

I did all my workouts today though, woohoo!

I also accomplished most of my to do list goals, minus the microscopy. Hopefully I can do some of that tomorrow. We'll see, still lots to do.

Spring Fever

The nice weather this weekend is definitely jump-starting my spring fever. I did get my husband to not only go up the mountain with me yesterday but then out to a cute little cafe for lunch. Today we learned a bit about spring fever in church, it is actually a physiological response to changing seasons. Cool stuff, yes!

Anyway. I made the greatest treat for church yesterday, I soaked and boiled dates, prunes, and golden raisins, and then processed them with apples, walnuts, pecans, almonds, and gluten-free oats, spiced with cinnamon, all-spice, cloves, and nutmeg. This mix was cooled and then rolled into balls. Then I coated the balls in a mixture of ground walnuts and oats. I didn't measure anything, sorry!

Tonight, being a holiday and all (although not one I celebrate), we had a special dinner and I made a homemade version of green bean casserole, turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, and veggies. It was not half bad. I'm still working on the crispy onions, today's weren't crispy enough.

Today I did my morning yoga and just did my evening workout. I'm planning a fast day tomorrow since I got so far off this past week. I'm hoping the Wii comes back so I can weigh-in officially Tuesday morning!

So, here's my to do list for tomorrow. I'm splitting my lists into must-do and could-do

Must-Do List

- Morning workout

- results section of manuscript (1 hr)

- count current microscope pictures
- email job searches

Okay. That should be more than enough real work and other work to keep me busy throughout a fast day.

Now, I have to finish watching Caprica and other stuff. Plan for a great week and it will be one!

    I hope you have a productive day tomorrow - you certainly have a lot on your list, but I'm all for aiming high! Plus, you have a firm idea of what you want to accomplish, and that's the first step.

That food sounds really good. I'm always impressed with people who can whip up things without a recipe. I suck at that.
