I finally started some strength and cross training on Friday. I was supposed to start Monday. Better late than never. The 10K training is:
Mon. Stretch & strength
Wed. 30-40 min. cross
Thurs. Run & strength
Sat. 40-60 min. cross
I got my 3 runs in this week, 2.5, 2, and 3.1 miles. They were all at about a 10:00/mile pace. Yesterday I did a little body weight strength training, 30 minutes of yoga, and 30 minutes of cardio with DDR. My chest is sore today from pushups. It feels good to be sore again. It's been way too long.
I weighed myself today and I've gained 5 pounds in the 2 months I've been running. I haven't been weighing myself regularly or counting calories so I'm not terribly surprised, but of course I'm not happy about it either. Fortunately I've been keeping track of my BF% and it's still what it was 2 months ago. So I must have put on both muscle and fat. When I was at this weight last March, my BF was 2% higher. I have to keep telling myself that I'm not back where I was last March. I'm doing fine and at least maintaining my BF%. Anyway, I think I'm going to be more mindful of what I'm eating and start counting calories again.
