A year of running...

Tuesday, July 06, 2010

I cannot believe that one year ago, today, my sister and I started running. It was an interesting year, full of ups and downs. I've written about those experiences a couple of times now, so today I want to focus on the present and the future!! A year after starting to run I'm looking at where this journey will take me next.

First, I'm REALLY slow, so I'm focusing right now on getting faster. I'm working on losing more of this weight and training my muscles to be stronger and faster.

I'm learning more about running. There is a lot of technical stuff involved in this that I NEVER dreamed of!! 440's, 880's, Fartlek, Speed work, Hill repeats, etc. I'm learning the lingo and figuring out that all of this is stuff that will help make me a better runner.

Hydration and fuel are way more important than I ever dreamed. I'm finding out which products I like and are tolerable for fuel. I found out I really love Clif Blocks and these chewy energy ball things from PowerBar. Still looking for a hydration pack, haven't invested in one yet, but I'll get there soon. It's working its way to the top of my wish list. On Saturday's run I took a bottle of water, which was ALMOST enough, judging by the sweat test, to replenish what I would have lost. I finished the amount when I got home with a Vitamin Water Zero for the electrolytes since it was such a hot day.

I'm making plans for my next 10K and my first HALF!! Honestly, the half will be the first thing I do where I probably walk more than I run. Even my super hilly 10K I managed to run at LEAST half of the entire thing, I'm going to try the Jeff Galloway intervals during training, but I will probably stick with my original plan to run the first 6 miles and then walk the rest. I've got 5 months to figure it out!

I no longer think of running as something I will do until I reach a goal, I look at running as a part of my life. It is something I have come to rely on. It has become a friend. I look forward to running. I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of a pair of socks!! Socks...Those items that most people don't even think twice about are specialty items in running. Amazing!! I have always had an interesting relationship with socks. Most of the time it is more hate than love. I hate sorting socks, there are 5 people in this house for whom I do laundry. I HATE sorting and folding that many pairs of socks. There also seems to be this male genetic thing that makes guys discard their socks anywhere in the house EXCEPT the laundry bin...I hate all the socks in the house except a few elite pairs that belong to me!! Three pairs of wool socks...Two pair came home with me from Germany, the third pair was purchased in Idyllwild years ago when we walked the 5K version of the 10K we just did last month. During cold months those socks come out instead of slippers. I hate shoes and most of the time I see slippers as a soft version of a shoe, somewhat more desirable, but still, I prefer a pair of those socks. The other favorite pair is my turkey socks from the Turkey Trot I did last Thanksgiving. They come out for runs more often than any other pair of socks I own. They've seen a few miles and are still holding up well, but I can't wait for the new pair in case they join my elite club of socks.

I am thinking about all the things I will have to do if I want to do a TRI-sprint distance of course. Every couple of weeks I google Southern California races to see if there is something I HAVE to sign up for.

I am campagining for my city to provide more races.

I am looking forward to many more running anniversaries!!

Here's to a great year past and a wonderful year ahead emoticon.

Happy runniversary! I loved this post. I just started running for the first time in my life 5 weeks ago. Now I am starting to glimpse what people mean when they say that running is fun and running is addictive. I hope to write a similar post next summer. Hopefully I'll still be running too.

Seriously, who knew how important socks would be?! I have my heavy wool socks for hiking and my silk sock liners for the winter and then my wicking athletic socks. And let me tell you, I notice if I haven't done laundry and have to wear another pair of socks running or hiking!

Congrats on running a whole year and continuing to work on improving your running. But apparently I'm still a novice because I have no idea what you were talking about, 440, 880...

Happy running trails!!

Happy Anniversary to you! 1 year of running, wow! and such an insightful blog...I especially like the following:

That right there is just SPARKALICIOUS! emoticon

It has been a great year! One thing I neglected to note is how much more special running is because it is something that belongs to me and my sistah! :-)

Can't wait to see where we are at in another year, two and more! Cheers! emoticon

Love this blog! I'm in Week 2 of C25K and I'm finding that I'm really liking this running thing. I hope in a year's time I'll be where you are. And you are so right about men and their socks! The only thing worse is matching my kids socks because they're so close in size. Love the inspiration I get whenever I read your blogs!

Over here in the uk you can get black socks but the toes and heals have different colours so pairing up 2 blue heal and then 2 red is a doddle Love it!.

HEY! AWESOME OUTLOOK AND ATTITUDE! I just bought and am reading the Jeff Galloway book on running. I am going to do my first half marathon in October. Keep me posted on how you're doing. Running is so addicting, isn't it? Woo-hoo!
Have you ever tried coconut socks? A friend bought me a pair. I ran on the hottest, must humid day ever with the socks. At the end of the run, my feet were the only things dry! I love them. Socks! Who d' thunk? LOL!

You've got to read Slow, Fat Triathlete if you haven't already. I love that book, I did my first tri before I read it, but I was grinning ear to ear through the whole thing. You are so right, about running becoming a friend and not just something you do to reach your goals. CONGRATS on all your hard work, the change in mindset, and the healthy changes. You are in a better place than I was a year in, it took me longer to love it, but I'm there. You go girl-SUCH an inspiration!!

4 miles of hell...errr heck, wasn't THAT bad in retrospect....

Saturday, July 03, 2010

Yesterday my sister called to say she wouldn't be running with me today because she was going out to spend time with her son, at the BEACH, of all places, so I was on my own...So tempted to just say haha, not running. But, still excuse busting so I bit the bullet and decided I would still run. I set out my clothes, made sure I knew where my shoes and socks were, got the ipod ready, set the alarm and went to bed.

Woke up this morning to the alarm going off and waited for husband to go shut it off, that was when he nudged me, oh yeah, that's for me, not him. I slammed that puppy off and went back to sleep. Not really what I had planned, and I felt a brief moment of guilt as I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep. A couple of HOURS later...daughter comes and wakes us up, imagine that it is 8:00 and they are just now getting hungry...hmmm, seriously it is already 8:00??!! Geez, I still need to run!! It would have been so easy, so, so, easy to say forget it, I'll do a video, or I'll run tonight (which I know I probably would not actually do). Thank goodness we were having some June Gloom and it was still overcast and cool or I never would have made it.

I got dressed, put the shoes on managed to remember ipod and water and off I went. I chose the more rural of my two planned routes since it was getting late and more people would be out and driving. When I run east I get to run past several horse properties and lots of fields at the beginning of the run. I got to run past the "poison" field I ran past a bit ago when I ran my first 6 miler. It is done being "fumigated" and is now blossoming with something that is too small to tell what it is. That field often grows either potatoes or pumpkins so we'll have to wait and see what it is this year. It was good I had lots to look at because today's run was not fun.

It started getting warm shortly after I started, but some nice breezes helped with the heat. My legs felt like cement though. It felt like I hadn't gone running for a year!! Nothing wanted to move and every step felt like I was going up a hill. I couldn't seem to make my legs work today. I decided to keep with it though and not give up. I had planned 4 miles and I was gonna do 4 miles gosh darn it!!

I did it too. I made it through the 4 miles running every step of the way, but today it wasn't fun. It was torture, it was hot and hellish and tired and slow and blah. I kept wondering how I would ever make it through a half marathon if I couldn't even run 4 miles.

That is were I had an idea though. I can run 6 miles, I know I can, I've only done intervals to this point, but I can run six. If I can get my 10K time down to an hour and a half then I can walk the rest of the half with 2 and a half hours left in the 4 hour goal I am setting. Going into the half I don't care if I am last. This is a relatively flat course, nothing like my 10K and I don't care how much I have to walk. I just want to finish it! If that means walking 7 of the 13 miles then so be it I guess. So today's run gave me a plan for continuing on anyways.

The stretch after the run was awesome!! I got to use my new foam roller and boy that sucker can really hit some deep tissue and work out the kinks!! And those endorphins did kick in enough to make it seem not as bad as it probably was. And for the first time in awhile I ran 4 miles. After the 10K we scaled back our running before starting to train for the half, I set the goal of 4 today just for the heck of it and I did it. I didn't back down, but I sure hope my next run is a little more fun than today's was!! I now have a plan for the half that makes it seem do-able and I have until November to speed up that 10K and get used to more than doubling that distance even if walking. Now time to get on with the rest of the day...Hope everyone has a great Saturday!!!

I haven't done 4 miles since my 10K. I did 3.5 a few Saturdays back when I planned to do 4, but the heat got to me.

I haven't run at all for the past couple of weeks because of the heat and family issues, but I am still confident about the half.

We can do it! Have you registered?

Well done!I am working on C25K week 3 right now. I hosted a slumber party for my daughter on Friday night and didn't get home until 9 am on Saturday. I was really tired, so I went to bed for a nap. I woke up at 10:30 knowing I should run... and I made myself get out and do it! It started raining (light rain), and I kept going. I completed my run and felt very proud of myself.

Another hard thing - a neighbor texted Saturday night and asked if I wanted to run with her this morning. Oh, how I wanted to do run! But, I believe I need to rest a day between runs AND I had just completed a hard week with a lot of exercise and needed a day off. So, I had to turn her down... but suggested we run next weekend.

Have a great 4th!

I'm so glad you still got out and ran 4 miles, no less!! Way to go! I only did 3 yesterday...but I think we must have been channeling each other even though we were a couple hours apart because I had cement legs yesterday too! LOL I couldn't find the headphones for my iPod, so I had no music...I tried to tell myself that it was okay, but it really wasn't. I really could've used the kick in the pants that music gives! And as much as I love being down at the beach, Robert's base isn't that big, so doing a 3 mile run with Warm up and cool down means repeating some areas...Boring...especially when you don't have music! But I did it and felt good when I was done. :-)

Are you going to come run on Tuesday morning with me this week in celebration of our 1-year running anniversary? July 6 is the day we began C25K a year ago...Fartleks are on the schedule as a fun way to change it up. :-)

I got started running on the treadmill, but running outside is a whole different beast and feels quite impossible. Even running 1 mile was a struggle and I had to remind myself that I've run further and longer on the treadmill and that I CAN do it, even if it feels like I can't.

And thanks for the reminder about the foam roller--I got one a year or so ago and it did wonders for an injured IT Band that has had me in pain for 10 years, but I don't remember to use it often now that the pain has subsided to a reasonable kevel. Need to use it more!

Ugggh!!! Ripping my hair out ...oh wait yoga....ahhhhh....

Friday, July 02, 2010

Okay, so it is 8:00 a.m. here and I am already tearing out clumps of hair and my frustration meter is about to burst. Know those cartoon thermometers where they keep going up and up and up and then bust through the top...that is my frustration meter!!!

I hate summer break. My kids have decided there are no rules and I am going crazy constantly reminding them about the rules that I haven't discarded. Bedtime...okay we can have a much looser stance on that one during the summer. Lying about sneaking a popsicle...not so much wiggle room there. Fighting with each other...yeah, not going to let you do that guys. Sit in front of the t.v. all day and do diddly squat, well we've had a hard time with that one off and on, but seriously get out of my living room and go do SOMETHING!!

Yesterday I decided these monkeys had to get out of the house-not home at all on Monday or Tuesday, but after a t.v. Wednesday we had to get outside. There was a farmer's market last night and I figured, hey, let's go walk around the farmer's market...so we drive out there and it is small, dinky small, I'm a little frustrated already seeing how small it is. Okay, we can still look around and see what there is. One certified organic stand, several misc. produce stands with cardboard, handwritten signs saying organic, and then several, hmmmm where'd ya get this stands. In case you don't know what a hmmmmm where'd ya get this stand is...it is a stand of fruit, usually just one fruit, in this case watermelons, sold at an extremely high price-$6 for a medium sized watermelon, I don't think so...., but the people running the stand don't exactly look like the people who owned the property that the watermelons were grown on, but probably the people that were picking the watermelons and decided to do a little side business if you know what I mean.... There were a couple of misc. stands too, the Tupperware lady, a Pampered Chef stand, and a lady selling girls' bows and clippies, but I am loyal to my friend who does the same thing so I skipped that stand all together. I was highly disappointed in the farmer's market, no flowers, very few vegis, the $6 watermelons. I was hoping the hummus and tzatsiki (sp?) guys would be there, but no go. We ended up paying for some kettle corn the kids didn't even eat and some raspberries. My son wants me to turn my itty-bitty basket of raspberries into juice-yeah, not gonna happen dude.

So, after spending all of 15 minutes at the farmer's market we left. The trip home takes us right past Wal-Mart so I suggest we stop there to look at craft supplies to keep these little monsters, I mean darlings, busy. Wal-Mart has been busy re-arranging their craft section and a BUNCH of stuff has disappeared and been replaced with kits. They want me to spend $10 on some scraps of paper and felt with directions to make 6 itty-bitty crafty zoo animals, not worth it!! Ugggh!!! How come NOTHING is going my way!!! I finally settle on some paint, which we've been out of for awhile, but can't find the special painting paper-white paper that is thicker than drawing paper so that the paint doesn't soak through, so I settle on construction paper. I get some modeling clay because son specifically requested it. I wanted the kind that will air dry so that son's creations will last, but there were three kinds...one kind specifically said it won't air dry, the second will air dry but only comes in white, the third kind wouldn't say whether it would air dry or not and came with lots of colors-we gambled on the last one. Hopefully it will air dry, if not oh well. Also got some foam beads and clear string because it was what daughter requested so she could make necklaces. One more kit of foam bits for making whatever you wanted with what was in the kit and we were done at Wal-Mart.

I spent some time last night checking out the schedule on FitTV to see if there were any shows I wanted to check out and try as my exercise today. Found a couple of shows that showed promise and set reminders to change the channel to my show at the right time. This morning I get up and the kids need some attention first. Clothes, food, you know, plus daughter wants to make her necklace NOW so I sit and help youngest with hers while older daughter does her own thing. I know it is getting close to time for my show, but not being totally aware of the time I head to the bathroom, finish getting ready and then come back and help daughter some more. This stupid show is on that my son is watching and it seems to be going on for forever. I finally look at a clock and my show should have started 10 minutes ago!! What the heck!! While I was in the bathroom son took it upon himself to cancel my reminder and keep watching his STUPID, I mean truly stupid, show. Back to back episodes going on for an hour- UGGGH!!! Then he LIES about it!!! UGGGH!! Son lost a bunch of privileges because of the lie. My kids finally realize they are pushing mom to the brink of insanity and do a little cleaning up.

The other show I had selected comes on and youngest makes protesting noises when I change the channel. "Tough cookies Cookie". Oh yeah, I'd picked out a yoga show. Kundalini yoga...I've never done this kind...Hmm looks good....excuse me while I go practice a little yoga....

That was the most awesome yoga workout EVER!!! I think partly because she didn't use downward facing dog even one time-for some reason that pose and I just don't get along!! Hatha yoga is the form of yoga that most people are familiar with-it is most likely to be the type taught if a class or video simply says "Yoga" and doesn't specify that it is any particular yoga, like Kundalini or Power or Ashtanga, etc. Iyengar Yoga falls under the Hatha category, but uses props and is slower than traditional so that most people can practice yoga using Iyengar techniques-great for beginners, which even though I've been doing yoga for several years now I consider myself a beginner. From this one experience the Kundalini yoga was much faster than the Iyengar or Hatha I am used to, but the poses are not as stiff as what I am used to either. There was more movement in this session than what I usually do, but small movements. Kundalini yoga is designed to "awaken the energy at the base of the spine and move it up ward." I have to say I can't remember ever having this much "fire" in my core at the end of a yoga session. Not pain or stiffness, but definitely a feeling of energy spreading through my core. And relaxed.....ahhh, the fact that my kids went in their rooms and played quietly while I did my yoga seriously helped, they can sure be intuitive when they really need to be!! I will definitely have to try Kundalini yoga again-that was awesome!! I looked at some info and from what I read, Kundalini seems to be what people who don't yoga think of when someone says yoga. Chanting, meditation and breath are all a big part of Kundalini. This video didn't ask us to do much chanting, but provided a chant like song, but really upbeat, while we worked out. The instructor suggested a mental chant during one section and it was kind of cool . Chanting in your head has a low embarrassment factor-lol!! Now I'm ready to tackle some laundry and dishes, cardio later today and then maybe we'll even hit the pool...sounds nice...I'll have to figure something out for strength since that is what son cancelled for me. Anyways, hope everyone is having a nice day...moving into the holiday weekend!! Love that yoga.............

Time to come back to earth....

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Wow, it has been a fun couple of days, but I was just thinking about having, I mean "getting" to go for run tomorrow and I just realized that it's been almost a WEEK since I've done anything considered exercise!!!! EEEEEEEEKKKKKK!!!! WTH!!! I went running last Thursday, then got sick with yet another stupid cold, so really nothing on Friday OR Saturday. Sunday is an exercise free day. Monday, well, Monday I did do A LOT of walking, pedometer needs a new battery so I have no idea how much, but we didn't Monorail a single trip outside the park or back and we park hopped a couple of times so that adds distance, I usually hit more than 20,000 steps in a regular Disney day so really Monday was actually a pretty good day, just didn't seem like it because it was fun!! Yesterday, hate to admit it, but still nothing. I did a little Sparking (isn't that what they used to call making out in the olden days?), finished my course work for my Student Development class and submitted all my assignments, so now I just wait for that to get graded before I can take the final, I have a few weeks before that HAS to happen, but I have to keep studying for that final. Ooops off track...I was talking about my LACK of exercise. Today, we are going out to the Mom/Brother and SILs/Bro's in-laws. That sounds really weird, that all those people are in one place-they all live on the same property, but in their own homes...it is the Bro's In-laws that have the main attraction-the pool!! We like going out there in the summer because they are at a SLIGHTLY higher altitude but it makes a difference in the temperatures so spending time poolside out there is cooler than poolside down here. Plus there are the cousins-3 of them, all girls, but they are all really close in age to my kids so they have a blast, plus Molly, who is closest in age to Matthew (they are exactly 4 months apart) is a not a girly girl anyways so she and Matthew have a blast together. Well, I am taking awhile to get to the point here aren't I-while we will be poolside, I'm looking at this as more time to relax, maybe read a book. So, I've gotta come back to earth here sometime soon....

It's the last day of the month and time for new goals, except I'm not setting new goals so there!!! I am keeping my focus points from June.

Focus 1-plan to eat . I've fallen down here a little. Time to come back to earth again and start focusing on what I am eating again. I also broke my soda streak, so it is starting again-I like that it is starting the day after my birthday. I can set a goal to celebrate next b-day as a year free of soda. I will celebrate with apple juice and seltzer.

Focus 2-Fitness-strength and speed training. I was doing really well here until I got sick AGAIN so it this is just picking up where I left off last week. I did a little rearranging last week and I now have a little station near the t.v. with my weights, my step/bench and my other goodies (fit ball, weighted ball, bands, foam roller and yoga block and strap). My step is actually in the middle of the room, the kids are using it as a table/bench. It is set up like a bench seat in front of the t.v. so they can sit there and watch their shows. They love my step. If I tweak this it will be to set a bit more of a focus, like legs on T, TH and S after running so that they will have time to recover before next run. I wasn't really planning days to work on areas and sort of ran into some , not issues, but well , complications maybe, by not planning what will be worked when.

Focus 3-School work-still have to study for that final. Did find out though that I have to take a lot fewer classes than I thought to finish my degree. My associates degree that I did earn gave me a little bit of a short cut. On my academic plan it will still take me three years to finish, but that is while I raise 3 kids on a budget. So this month is get that test done, with a great grade if possible so I can get going on the rest of those credits.

It's going to be a long hot month, but I am going to keep it rockin' with a bunch of training and this month is going to be a great one!!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

We all need little detours through the stars sometimes...glad you are bringing yourself back to Earth though! I will see you in the morning for a run! :-) Also, we'll talk about plans for Saturday...I'm thinking change of scenery to meet up with a fellow Sparker! We'll talk tomorrow morning. Hope you are having fun poolside today because it is miserably muggy down here in the valley. UGH!

My hope is that I can figure out how to fit health and fitness into the life of a mom. It looks like you are doing it. Great job. Walking to and fro at parks sounds like a great way to exercise. Keep moving forward. emoticon

Happy Birthday to me!!! A very rambling blog...

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Today is my birthday!! Yep, enjoying it this year!!! Yesterday we went to Disneyland and had a wonderful time!! We parkhopped between Disneyland and California Adventure. Met Belle, Tiana, Ariel and Tinkerbell. Went on Small World (my personal requirement is that we go on that ride EVERYTIME we go and my son complains everytime but then has fun anyways). At California Adventure we had to split up for awhile while hubby stood in line to get tickets for the new nighttime show at C.A. (California Adventure). The kids and I got in line for Soarin' over California, a ride we'd never gone on. Amazingly youngest was tall enough for this ride (she must be growing, again...). We'd been in line a little while when youngest starts dancing, uh-oh, "mommy, me have to go potty". "Okay, common guys back out of line." But then the guy right behind us said he would save our spots AND he did!! Soooooo nice! I was so thankful. When we got back he was more than half way through the line and waving at us to come to our spot. The ride was awesome, even youngest thought it was totally cool!! Went on the new Toy Story ride, also totally cool. Son and daughter and dad got to go on the Grizzly River Run ride (a rapids ride that soaks you) and son loved it, daughter didn't, probably because it got her TinkerBell costume wet.

Daughter got to make a build-a-bear for her birthday, she made a pink bear and dressed her up as TinkerBell. We went back to Disney for awhile and then went back to C.A. for the new nighttime show. It was a really good show with clips and music from lots of Disney's favorite movies. It is actually a water show with lights and images projected onto the water, very cool. Daughter was having a blast yelling out each movie that she saw. We were all exhausted at the end of the day.

What I started noticing was how sore my calves were getting. I wore my "mom running errands" shoes instead of the sneakers I usually wear to D-land. Well, that much walking in cute instead of functional shoes really took a toll on my calves!! Which is okay because it gives me the perfect reason to use my new birthday present from my husband-a foam roller!! Woohoo!! Thanks hubs! Let's see what that bad boy can do for my sore calves!!

The other thing I noticed is that I was able to climb Tarzan's tree house without noticing much of an exertion level!! People who went to Disneyland many years ago will know Tarzan's Tree house as the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. Lots of stairs up, a stabilized, yet still bouncy, suspension bridge, and lots of stairs down. As I climbed this puppy for the first time in MANY years I was surprised at how easy it was. I was also surprised by how easy it was to not look down! Small fear of heights thing going on, not so much in the sections that are more building than anything else, but that bridge...

Eating at D-land is always a challenge for us. We save money by taking our own food and tend to take "snacks". This week our challenge for FITS is to track our protein. It is challenging to get enough protein on a day when you are not really "eating", but browsing througout the day. Took some cheese snacks, nutty granola bars, beef jerky, turkey and cheese sandwiches for lunch, and a few other snacks. After a good breakfast those snacks got me there, JUST BARELY!! I wanted to pack protein based snacks for the most part anyways to give us the sustained going power needed for a busy day. For the kids I had a few sugary treats thrown in so that they would stay happy and give them something to be happy about while standing in lines, which we didn't do as much of as we thought we would. I give each kid their own backpack with their own snacks so that they carry their own stuff and I tell them to eat what they want when they want it, but if they run out of food that is something they have to live with (I always have extra in my bag since they are kids, but it keeps them accountable since the caloric content of their bags really is sufficient for the day).

I think my exercise for the day was covered by all the walking. Overall it was a very good day!!

I was supposed to get up and go running this morning and here is an excuse that didn't get busted, but I think I am justified...I was too tired. I could not even open my eyes this morning. I did not even HEAR the alarm go off this morning. My feet and calves hurt and I have a couple of blisters from those shoes I wore. I'll do SOMETHING today, even if it is just a fit ball workout since that was my other birthday present-my kids popped my old one and hubs replaced it this birthday. I didn't specify a size of ball for him to buy and hubs got the 55cm one-for 5'3" and under. I am 5'3" and a HALF (yes, whenever possible I include the half and usually round up if I can't) so I have always bought the 65cm ball, but I had noticed that some things seemed a little harder than they should and my feet and legs didn't always form a right angle when I was sitting on it. The 55cm seems small to me, but it will be interesting to see if it actually works better for my size. I think it is adorable and the smaller size actually fits better in our house!

My son was "kidnapped" this morning by his cousins to go swimming so it is kind of a quiet day. Relaxing, getting things done and just enjoying myself. Hope everyone else is having a terrific day too!!

Happy Belated Birthday! I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your blogs. My birthday was the 26th, and I'm still celebrating! I LOVE Disneyland, but haven't been since 1987 for the opening of Captain Eo!!! I noticed that you live in Hemet- I live in northern California now, but spent most of my life in Riverside county- still think of it as home! Anyway, I hope you had a great birthday and congratulations on the great work! emoticon emoticon

That sounds like an exhausting day especially with the cold you had over the weekend.

I loved the Swiss Family Robinson tree house - it just isn't the same with the Tarzan theme. (Just like my beloved submarines.)

So glad you got to experience Soarin'. I always have to take "new" people on that ride when I go. I never get tired of that one.

Have a great rest of your Birthday!
