Having one of those productive/motivated days :)

Tuesday, September 06, 2011

For some reason I'm having one of those super productive/motivated days. Now, only if I wasn't stuck in lab critiquing abstracts for a scientific writing class I'm taking this semester. I also have plans with friends that will take up most of the evening, but maybe I can do a bit of planning for food for the coming week (going to the grocery store to pick up food to cook with friends tonight anyways). I'm also having fun working with/leading the Gold team. :) Where has all the energy come from suddenly.... and I even have not had caffeine in the last couple hours.

Don't you just love those days? You are at the beginning of a great journey with this team and that is always great and puts everyone on a natural high. I can't wait to start working with you on this team. You sound the right person to motivate everyone to challenge themselves into better people.

No excuse not to track anymore :)

Thursday, August 11, 2011

For my bday, I bought myself a new droid, and discovered the droid SP apps (which i totally love!!) However, this removes the excuse of well... i'm not by my laptop so i'll log it later problem. The issue is, that I would then never end up logging it. Now, it is convienent as i usually have my phone with me all the time. :) It doesn't hurt that it has a cute pink case too ;)

Growing a "Garden of Success"

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

The initial idea of growing a garden of success started after I lost my first initial 10 pounds after joining SP. I love plants, and decided to buy a small ones as a little rewards. The first one I bought was a little small african violet with large white flowers on it. I brought it home and set it on top of the PS2 next to my tv, so that when I look at my tv I have a reminder of the progress I've made so far. After thinking about it, I decided that since I love flowers/plants, why not use them as small rewards for every 10 pounds I lose.

Monday, when I weighed myself, I discovered I was down another 10 pounds (and under 200 :D). I looked forward to picking up a new little plant. When I was at the grocery store last night, I found a small little gorgeous african violet with deep dark burgendy flowers with ruffled petal edges. This little gem now resides on my desk.

I have a small little indoor garden of success started, but looking back and reflecting.... It is more than just the physical plants themselves. They are a symbol of so much more than just the weight lost. It is about clothes being too big and going down a size, about starting to find my waist, and actually seeing positive changes in my arms, legs, and butt :D, about the increase in energy, about being able to do 40-60 min of kickboxing when I used to have to fight tooth and nail to finish 20 minutes of it when starting SP.

As I watch the flowers continue grow and bloom, so has my success and momentum. As new flowers poke their heads up and uncurl their leaves and as new little leaves poke up and grow into larger leaves, it reminds me that SP is about so much more than just watching the numbers on the scale go down. That it is about the journey along the way, about seeing and feeling one's self grow.

Under 200 lbs :)

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

After a little over two months on SP, i've lost just over 20 pounds and am now under 200 :D Getting under 200 was one of my medium-term goals. I now find myself asking what next? how big of medium term goal to set? I know I still have a ways to go, but it is nice to build momentum and see progress forward. :)

When running low on clean clothes is a good thing!!

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Due to not getting around to doing laundry last night (as I got home late), I had few clean jeans this morning. This sent me digging in my closet, where i found a stack of pants that I hadn't been able to wear for about a year due to being too small. I thought well... might as well try them on and see if they will fit (even though i didn't want to, as I didn't want to face it if they didn't fit yet). Much to my surprise, the pair i tried on fit perfect. When I started on here just over two months ago, the 18s I was wearing were a bit too snug on me.... however the 16s I tried on this morning (and am now wearing today) fit perfect! :D So, not getting around to doing laundry last night was a good thing, as I discovered I am now dropping clothing sizes. :)

I did this same thing about a week ago! It's like having new clothes again! I have some more clothes that still don't quite fit comfortably... but I scheduled another day about 10 weeks from now to try them on again. :)
