Knees

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

One of the things I've really been enjoying as I continue on this journey is watching the visible changes that have been occurring in my body. One of those places of change has been in my knees. I tend to carry a lot of my weight in my thighs and you could really see it around my knees, I wish I'd taken measurements of my knees before because they've slimmed down. I'm really looking forward to being more comfortable in my own skin.

You know it's funny, I used to avoid looking in the mirror and at myself, and now I look at myself trying to see the changes!

You can always start measuring those places now and keep up with it from here on out. That is great. The fact that you SEE it says a lot! Great work! emoticon

Day Dreaming

Monday, August 06, 2012

One of the things I like to do is to day dream often this will include looking at possible vacation spots and activities that would take me away from my life of toil. I was looking on Walt Disney's Nose to Tail Horse rides at the Ft Wilderness campground and I realized that I am under the weight limit of 250 to go horse back riding. I could do that activity! (Though it would actually be more fun here in KY and probably less $$ Too) It makes my day dreams taste a little sweeter knowing that I could physically do that activity. Okay back to my regularly scheduled daily toils.

Ha! I had that same experience at the amusement park the other day with my kids! A couple months ago I wouldn't have been able to go on some of the rides with them! I think u should go riding, if not @ Disney then in KY :)

Daydreams are great! When I'm walking, I am always a million miles away in my head..and I'm damn sexy too! Lol

I don't think id ever ride a horse though - I get anxious when my two feet are not on the ground or close to it. But I imagine if I weren't the anxious sort that it would feel great ;o)

I loved it when I realized I could do the burros at Grand Canyon. Not that I was going to mind you, it was just a formerly closed option that open for me.

So Much to do

Saturday, August 04, 2012

Have you ever had so much to do that you hardly no where to begin, then you don't even want to deal with it anymore. I'm like that with my house right now. I know that I am supposed to be doing baby steps with it but uhg. All of the prep work then the actual work then the clean up then organizing.... It goes on and on... It's embarrassing too to have the house in this current state. Well there is really only one way to fix it and that is to just do it, keep going, get as much done as I can. Eventually it will be better, but only if I do something.

I know exactly where you're at. My house right now is so disorganized I can't stand it. My great excuse is I have to do this today to escape from it. I know I have to start somewhere, but looking at it is overwhelming and wears me out. I get anxious because I don't even know where to start. I'll try the advice from others; one room at a time.

As I am writing this, I know I am going to need to take every bit of advice and encouragement that I am giving you. Keep pushing...for the greater good of you, your state of mind, your sense of accomplishment, the warrior in you, the strong, independent woman, the aspirations in you, and ultimately your quest for a happy, content you.
I know how much of a struggle house projects are, from experience. It has been 10 years for us and we are still "completing" projects. But, we haven't given up and that is what keeps us motivated.
You are strong and you can do this! Focus...the end-product will be because of your strength! Just imagine that feeling!

I loathe that place. Although I find that making a list of what needs to be done, then focusing on only one thing at a time can break me out of that mental space. Good Luck!

Yes, I have been in a state of total chaos for about six months. I have promised myself I am going to just do it for months now but I just do one project at a time and then I don't get enough done. Yesterday a friend said, you're house looks OK, and I was shocked because I thought my house looked so disordered.

So, sometimes it is also our expectations.

Re Charging the batteries, how do you do it?

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

One of my SP friends mentioned that they needed to re-charge their batteries. It got me thinking, what do I do to re-charge my batteries. Then I realized that I didn't really like any of my answers, So this blog is more like a survey, I would love to see what works for you guys. Tell me how you re-charge your batteries?

Nothing re-charges mine like a good girl's night out! I prefer one-on-one dinners and drinks where we can just gab all night!

I write stories... and get a day away from home each weekend at the in-laws where we generally sit outside most of the day too. I'd say getting fresh air even if it's just a little sit on the porch... and honestly, this might just be me, but cleaning stuff up makes me happy. lol Strange, but true, and probably doesn't count for most people as 'recharging' but it makes me feel good anyhow. Give/get a foot massage. Listen to music. And sprinkling it all in as often as possible. At least one of them every day, usually two or more. Even if it's for ten minutes at a time. A lot like sneaking in exercise actually.

I read a fluffy romance that I KNOW will have a happy ending (hate books that don't end happily...especially if they're fiction...pet peeve of mine).

I also get caught up on my favorite shows that I've missed during the week

OR I'll watch a movie

OR I'll just spend a day with my hubs and the boy. Mini Golf usually does the trick or even the batting cages but my arms are so sore from the batting cages the next day I have to take it easy anyway lol

I have lots of ways! ANNINDY hit on two of them - sleeping and watching a fav show or two. I generally do that during the week by taking a vacation day from work. That way I'm home alone, not feeling guilty about staying home, and just veg out. Other ways I recharge:
- go swimming
- put on the headphones and dance
- put on the headphones and run (well...jog/walk)
- clean off a big surface area in my house, like the coffee table; makes me feel accomplished
- do yoga
- take 30 minutes to do something creative, like play piano
- sing my favorite song at the top of my lungs (when I'm alone, of course!)

Hope these help!

Genealogy- okay warning I get nerdy in this post

Monday, July 30, 2012

One of my favorite hobbies is genealogy. I love finding out about my family. I also enjoy watching "who do you think you are" on NBC. I had stopped doing it this last year because I was so busy and genealogy research can take a lot of time. But one of the really cool things about where I live is that I am with in driving distance to some of the counties and states where my ancestors lived. In fact I just need to go to a neighboring county and I can go through their archives and try to find my ancestor. (I'm at a point in most of my research- that a lot of what I want isn't online yet). I've been out of the loop though for the last year so I was surprised by the various site updates, and page layouts that are better and different. Seeing the 1930 and 1940 Census' online was cool but that is too recent for most of my research. I need older documents. I did find some new names today on my ex's family (for my daughters trees).
So long story short it's time to get back to my hobby!

I LOVE genealogy! I used to be a member on Ancestry.com but with school and moving and such things have gotten pushed to the side. Plus I was only able to do my mom's side for me and mostly my hubby's dad's side (his mom was the product of an affair with a married man, so she doesn't have any information on him...her mom was tight-lipped about it). Although, now that I know who my biological father is I think I might pick it back up again......after I finish school anyway.

Very interesting! I would really like to delve into this as well. I think I will add this to my "to do" list after the kids start school. I work Mon. - Wed. and I am the volunteer librarian at my kids' school and I coach my daughter's 8th grade volleyball team (ugh, a story for another time) but, you know, there's always room for one more thing!! A big plus is that my paternal grandmother (86) is still with us. So, if I ran into any bumps along the way maybe she could help. Thanks for the idea and inspiration! We'll have to share stories as we uncover our lineage. Oh, I may need a little help getting started but I'll bug you later.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

Wish I could get into the hobby. Sadly, my grandmother's records are in ashes in a country that doesn't exist any longer and was ravaged in WWII (East Prussua), and my grandfather was adopted. At least I have the oral history of my grandmother, though.
