Rain! Wind and Lightening...

Thursday, July 05, 2012

It has been raining about an hour now. I'm really glad we needed it. The temp has dropped to 68* outside (what a relief). The Wind however has blown down 2 trees on our street. The power company is out in force, and a lightening strike has started a fire on the hill across the street. Still the rain has picked up again so I'm hopeful it won't spread and will go out soon. I'm thinking I'll do stairs today for cardio and thank heaven for my blessings.

I am waiting for a little rain here in Minnesota and a relief from this heat. We have been in or near the 100's for well over a week. Bring on all that heat plus humidity and you have one sweaty mess.

Glad to hear that everyone is safe!

All ended well no one was hurt and only a few trees were damaged, as far as I could tell no personal property in my area was damaged.

My 4th was a Bust?

Thursday, July 05, 2012

I don't know what the temps were today but I decided not to go on my evening walk. In fact I was low on calories but high on fat, and not active hardly at all. I did get to see a lot of my neighbors putting on a fireworks shows. I half didn't expect anyone to do them this year cause of how dry and hot everything is, but at least 5 different neighbors lit up the sky last night. It's still hot, I told my friend Jamie though that today I'm gonna do my cardio for her!

On July 4, the temps here in Wind Lake, WI, were 108 in the shade according to our outside temperature gauge. It really takes a toll on my MS so no outside activity except to take our dog, Sophie, outside. I'm surprised she had the energy to fetch and return her ball for a little while.
Ken made salmon for supper and we had instant potatoes with it. I chowed down on the salmon. He makes the best salmon fresh caught out of Lake Michigan. Just so hot here. Today the temperature is even hotter. The cold fruit is delicious and really helps. We had a ban on any fireworks in our township due to the dryness, but some people put off fireworks anyway.
Hopefully, we'll get some relief and rain soon. I've been praying for it. Hold on and do the best you can even if it's sitting exercises in an air conditioned room.

The heat makes eating a pretty gross prospect. But really cold fruits hit the spot!! Don't worry about yesterday, today is a new day, so bust a move and get that cardio in.

So you feel yesterday was a bust! Then start today to make wiser choices, stay active and do not let 1 day determine your week. We all have bad days it is our ability to rise up the next day and be determined not to make it a trend.
You can do it so do not give up on yourself or your goals

Garden Stuff

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

I was surprised by my neighbor yesterday evening. My neighbor brought me 3 wal mart bags of produce from their garden, they were afraid the heat was going to destroy it and thought I might be able to use it. YES!! Oh I love fresh garden stuff there were cucumbers, bell peppers, onion (lots of onions) both white and yellow, and 2 small cabbage heads. I'm gonna have to make something special. On the flip side the wild blackberries should be ready to pick and my brother has tons of them on his property so I think I'll just share back with my neighbor.
I really need to have my own garden, so looking forward to trying one next year (hopefully).

On a cultural note... When I first moved here I was told by a local that there aren't rednecks in my county rather there are briar hoppers (due to all of the wild blackberries) I thought that was pretty cool.

Hi Dolphinnut! The people here have nick named themselves briar hoppers instead of red necks on account of there being so many wild black berries here. That used to be one of the main industries here, picking wild black berries.

Back Boobs

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

I hate my back boobs I'm sure I'm not alone in this so I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I pinched the fat back there and wow it's noticeably smaller. It may have gone down as much as a cup size if I measured it that way before. My spare tire(just below my waist) and inner tube (just above my waist) both have pleasant slow leaks and are deflating. Even my daughter poked my back and said yep it's getting smaller. I know I probably shouldn't label parts of my body like that but I do. And it's really nice to still be noticing the changes. Can't wait til I have a flat spare! My weigh in is tomorrow and I'll let you know how I did on my ticker!

I don't have back boobs...not bragging though because the front ones are causing me no end of grief! I wish that the boobs was were the weight fell off of first...

I think it's great to name all our juggly bits... then when they change characteristics, we can change their names. I call my lower fat roll my "butt in the front"!!

Wait until your "back boobs" only go under your arms - it causes all sorts of issues.

Anyway, positivity is key, and you're looking at it the right way!!

Reading

Monday, July 02, 2012

One of the things that I love to do is to read. What makes that even better is when I can still read to my 13 & 15 olds. Right now we are reading a sci fi book by Patricia Briggs. Normally I would say that is an adult book but because I'm reading it I can substitute words or even skip paragraphs if it's not appropriate. She is actually not too bad as far as inappropriate content. And we all enjoy the coyote walker, werewolves, fae, and vampires. Family time, pretty cool stuff.
