Lunches

Sunday, June 17, 2012

In another post I had expressed some concern I have concerning the school year and eating away from home. Thanks for the lunch advice BeingARollModel. I am a substitute teacher for the county here. I love the variety of students and lessons, that I don't have to really plan anything (except as a back up emergency) But last year I often didn't eat breakfast and would just get a lunch in the cafeteria with the kids. I think if I am diligent in packing a breakfast, snack, and lunch every night, (even if I am staying home the next day) it would be a great way for me to better control my eating. It would mean a little more planning than I currently do but I can do it with a little practice, maybe I should get myself a cute lunch box or cute storage containers that I would find fun filling them up.

TV

Sunday, June 17, 2012

I don't actually own a tv. This has been interesting for me. It means that IF there is something that sounds interesting to me I have to wait till it comes online or comes on DVD. Usually I like to solve logic problems online for fun or do a little sudoku but sometimes I like to watch an actual show. Today I watched Extreme Makeover: Weight loss edition on ABC. It is hard to believe the amazing transformations that they go through. I know my journey will be slower than theirs (They were losing 90lbs in the first 3 months) but the one thing I did take away was when it is hard and you only have you to push yourself... are you gonna fight for what you want or are you gonna walk away. I know what I want. Everyday I'm gonna do a little better then one day I will look back and say- yeah, it was worth it.

I hear you, because we are watching their whole year in one episode it feels even faster that it really is. You are right EJParadise I know I am making better choices today and tomorrow will be even better. By living healthier I will improve my life and lose weight in the process.

I'd love to just push enough to have just one huge weigh in like that but I'd be afraid of getting seriously injured. I am thankful for being able to do what I can now. No matter what the scale says, you know you have made positive changes in your life and nothing can take that away.

I'll see how much I've lost tomorrow, I'm a little nervous cuz last week I didn't lose anything. (though it was also that time of the month so I might have been retaining water?!?) I am looking forward to losing some back fat too. But I haven't noticed it yet. I heard somewhere that the areas you gained last are likely to be the areas you lose first. I don't really remember where I gained last though.

Hey I think this stuffs working!

Friday, June 15, 2012

So this morning started out just like any other until I realized that hey there is like 2 inches extra on the waist of these pants I'm wearing emoticon. Last week they were snug! So I know something is working. I had decided last night that I wanted to add more cardio days to my schedule.

And I'm definitely getting much better with my food, though I'm a little nervous about when the school year starts again. Making the transition from being home for all of my meals to not being home for all of them. Last year I just got the same meal as the kids got from the cafeteria. But is it healthy enough and if I'm asking that about myself then is it healthy for my kids? emoticon

Ah well there is the end of my musings for today. emoticon

Do you teach or are you going to school? When I taught I found that taking a salad with some fruit and some nuts was very filling. I would take the dressing in a little container on the side and I would pack it the night before so I wouldn't be pressed for time in the morning and just grab something quick and unhealthy. Congrats on the pants fitting better!!

Way to go, Kelly!! You're doing great!

I know what you mean about being gone for meals. I'm starting back to school this semester, and I worry about what I'll eat too. I also worry about keeping up with the other students in a fitness class that I have to take!

ACK! All the more reason for me to put more cardio into my life too.

Keep on going! emoticon

One of my most favorite things in life is watching the sunset and sunrise! To me they are a beautiful symbol of the end and beginning. Well yesterday is gone and today is here, I say bring it on! Today is going to be great!

First Weigh in

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

The good news is I haven't gained any weight and I think my pants are fitting better. I have to admit I was disappointed that I didn't see movement on the scale. I will be adding measurements to my reporting. I did take measurements last January so I can see if I've changed since then. I was going to take a photo but one of my munchkins dropped and broke it. So in general I'm just not having much of a good day. I know it will get better, and I can take a picture with my phone, I'm just disappointed with the whole morning.

When we start this "getting rid of weight" journey we can be extra sensitive, don't worry, everything will be ok...

Thanks for the support guys, I went on my evening walk and had a great time I saw 2 rabbits, and a nesting box turtle, and I even raced my dog Shadow up the hill- the dog won but I ran up a hill! So I'm pretty happy about that!

I hate when I have one of "those" days! Where you know you've worked hard, but the scale doesn't budge and you think "what's the freaking point?!" BUT! If you do notice that your close are fitting better then that is definitely something to celebrate! That means that it's WORKING! The scale just hasn't caught up yet. emoticon Just keep it up! :)

Keep your head up. Remember to live in the moment and not in the past. Dont let 5 minutes ago or 5 days ago or 5 weeks ago get you down. Put a smile on and make the decision to do whatever it takes to make right now your time to shine.

If your pants are fitting better, you are definitely making progress! I understand how infuriating it can be when the scale won't move, or even when it moves in the wrong direction! Sometimes, our bodies just take a little catching up. Sometimes you build more muscle than you lose fat. Sometimes you just ate a burger you shouldn't have. Please don't get discouraged whatever the reason. If you keep making good choices, the scale will catch up. emoticon

Sorry you are having one of "those" days! It's so hard to turn it around when it starts with a bang like that! I think taking measurements is a great idea. If your clothes are fitting better then you have to have lost inches. I hit a 5 day plateau when doing EVERYTHING right last week and on day 4, I finally took mine after almost a month and it was so exciting and kept me positive. Hang in there! It's a new week! And thanks for the sweet comment on my blog!! :)
