My update

Monday, October 01, 2012

I thought I'd give you guys an update of all the stuff that's going on. First of all I a have to say I've been keeping busy work wise. Last week in particular I worked every day as a sub. Those kindergarteners are so fun, but I was so tired by the end of the day. I was actually getting to bed by 9:30pm. I've also finished painting the office, and I've installed 2 bookshelves- but they aren't enough. I will have to put up a couple more. The good thing about finishing the office means that I can unpack some of my boxes, FINALLY! (A year later) I've also been preparing some stuff for the Quarterly challenge. Yes my plates been full. Tomorrow I have an appointment so I have to gather a few documents before I hit the sack but I am looking forward to visiting more with my friends I've been missing you!

I like the way you set up this challenge :) 9:30 is late, lol I been heading to bed at 8:30 myself so that I can get up and exercise although I may have to change it up as even with my gloves and warm hoodie on I am freezing in the morning :/

Hey Angie!, because I had some time to prepare for this challenge, I actually have it mapped out pretty well. I don't think it will be overwhelming cause a lot of the work is done already- just waiting to be posted. I hear you on the night time exercise, and I'll add a WOO HOO to your 8 hour sleeping record! Talk to you soon.

    Hi Kelly,
I love the bonuses you set up for the challenge! Hope you are not overwhelmed with subbing so much, remodeling and doing the challenge!! I read your previous blog and I am not able to wait until evening to exercise. I exercise in the morning or not at all! I know that is not good, but if I don't get to the gym early....I just won't go. And I wake up after exercise, so not good for me to exercise at night. I did really good with my sleep last week. I got 8 hours every night! WOO HOO!! That must be a record for me!

Love reading your blog!! Glad you are a co-leader with me. I was getting a little lonely!

Take care and have a great week!!

SO, I've started the school year again with substitute teaching. I am loving that btw! However I am dead tired by the time I get home. How do you guys get past that so that you still do your workouts and such. I've not been doing my best.

Thanks guys the biggest struggle about mornings for me is how cold everything will be in just a week or two here, I'm already starting to unpack the heavy blankets, and soon mornings will be freezing winter is coming early this year here in KY I can feel it at the door. I will try an evening snack.

I make sure to have a healthy snack about an hour to 90 minutes before I'm scheduled to work out. Perks me right up! (And even if it doesn't, just start moving and you'll see that your energy picks up in a few minutes.)

Oh, yeah - and make sure you're getting enough sleep!!

I like to get up early and do my workout first thing in the morning. It was hard at first getting up an hour earlier but now my body seems to have adjusted, I wake up without the alarm clock now. Sometimes I will go after dinner for a short walk around the block and sometimes even if I am tired, once I get started, I seem to get a second wind.

I've decided I'm a little crazy

Saturday, September 08, 2012

I am super excited to be working with Angie and Marie on the 100 lbs in 1 year team. I'll be helping with the Quarterly Challenges on that team. I am so excited, I've already been planning for the next Challenge which starts on October 1st. I'm hoping to make it exciting and engaging, a place where people really want to participate and to stick with it. Because as everyone knows it's hard to keep the momentum up.

I know that to do this right it's gonna require a bit of time from me, hence the reason I might be a little crazy. I know that, and am really gonna give it a go. I hope everyone will want to participate in the upcoming challenge with me. Well that's my latest news! Woo Hoo!

Maybe you are a little crazy...but as long as it works hey, who are we to judge? hahaha

I'd join the team, it sounds good, but I can't commit to more than I already have on my plate. :)

You can do it!

Hanging Curtains AKA Curtain Gymnastics

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

On Monday I decided it was time to hang the new curtain in my daughters room. Being a typical teenager her room is a disaster. Well, I'm not sure if that is really typical or not but in my house it is typical for her room to be a disaster 364 days a year. It really only gets clean on Christmas Eve. I thought okay I'll use her desk chair as a ladder and then I'll be able to screw in the curtain rod supports. Well, the chair was too low. So I thought about getting the really big heavy ladder and looked at the floor and realized there wasn't really a good spot to put it.
Now her window is set back into a cubby like area. I determined that I could stand in the window sill, and use my other leg on the wall across from me for support and leverage. SO that is what I did. Good thing her room is on the back of the house! I could only imagine what I looked like standing in the window. This was hard work!
Once I was in place I had to be careful not to drop the screws (or they might have been lost in the abyss of her room! Not to mention that it would require getting down, and back up. Which I did have to do. Thankfully the Abyss doesn't run too deep!
In the end, my daughter has her new curtain up, and her mother (me) has a renewed desire for her to clean her room! I was so sore yesterday, I could hardly move! Today is a bit better, but I'm still sore! Anyway I thought maybe you guys would get a kick out of my curtain hanging gymnastics.

The Reunion

Monday, August 13, 2012

The Reunion... The Carr Reunion is the longest continuously running reunion in the state of KY. They've been holding it for 115 years straight now. The people there were my extended family from my Mom's side. I thought it was sad though that there aren't many actual Carr's left. Rather daughters have married and like me their children no longer bare the Carr surname. It was great to hear a couple of stories about my Great Grandpa & Great Grandma as well as my grandma. I had a good time and look forward to seeing them all again next year!

I think it's wonderful that you get together with your extended family and for so many years. I don't have that in my life and I can envision how great it would be to get together.

Where in Kentucky? I lived in Louisville a long time ago and remember meeting a Carr through a girl friend of mine-but, he passed on from what I hear years ago.
