Every little pound counts

This week I lost 1 lb. I have to be happy about that though because last week I lost 0, and If I want to be completely honest with myself I probably put on 1 maybe 2. I have taken on 2 challenges. 1 is to work out for 10 min a day. I have been doing really well with that. If I don't get to go to Zumba I am on my wii fit after my little one goes to bed do at least 30 min of exercise. I am starting to feel the increase of energy from it and that is really rewarding. the 2nd is to lose 5 lbs by the end of march. I think I will succeed with that as well.

My husband has been gone for the past week and he will not be back home till his friday. He has been at Fort Lewis for training. It has been keeping hit totally busy but I know that he likes it. He is in the National Guard and sometimes I think he is only 100% comfortable when he is consumed in the military life style. He used to be active in the army after high school but got out after his 3 years were us. Over the years he has gone back to the reserves and now that national guard. He would go back active but they wont let him because he has to many dependents/baby mama's as he put it. 3 with an ex wife, 1 with a one night stand that he barely ever gets to see (thats a long story) and now me.

I am a little nervous of when he gets home. I always get in to a routine when he is gone. then when he comes back he always messes that routine up. Like right now I am staying up late doing wii fit before bed. Well when he is home he stays up late playing call of duty, both machines are hooked up to the same TV. I would be happy to set the wii us else where but he lost the cable we need to hook it up to any otheR TV, I am sure I can get another one but we have been talking about getting a new cable for over a year now and it still has not happened. I am a little more fired up about it now, so if i decide to get it done it will probably happen.

Anyway, I am really excited for my DH to come home, I am just a little anxious about it too. we will see what friday brings. He is probably going to be tired the first few days back so hopefully he will go to bed early, and I will be able to go to Zumba more when he is home to watch the baby, I forgot about that.

So for now I am going to focus on my exercise and my food and deal with the future when it gets here.

    emoticon on the loss!! You are right, every pound counts. You are now 1 pound closer to your goal. It does get tough when you have a schedule and it gets changed. My hubby is a big XBox player, but we have a time set. If I am up he doesn't get it until 11:30, if I go to bed or don't want the tv then he can have it. Maybe you and your hubby can work out some kind of schedule so you can get in your workouts. emoticon

Plateau I hate you!

I have hit my first Plateau. Plateau's are always so frustrating, they just kill my momentum. In the past they are what have been my demise. But this time I am handling it differently. I have started 2 challenges. I think that this will really help me stay on track. I need something to be excited about and if it is not lbs lost it has to be something else. i am very competitive so I think these small sort term goals, will really help stoke that fire.

I have had to evaluate what has caused the plateau as well. I kind of felt this coming. The first few weeks the weight was coming off so easily, I have been taking alli and not having much side effects, while I am happy about this, it is also the reason I started taking alli, I thought that if I was afraid of the side effects it would stop me from giving in to the cravings. While it does do this still to a point, I am not as afraid of the side effects any more since I have not suffered from them. Also there are things you can indulge in that are full of calories but have 0 fat. So I am getting back into tracking my food. This time around I was logging, but not on Spark, today I started to go back to that. Every time I have logged my food religiously I have been successful. I just have to find the time to do it. I realized today that it really doesn't take to long. Spark has so many foods already logged in that it makes it really easy. So that is a mini goal for me for the next week, log every bite!

    Ahh, the plateau was my middle name. I was a yo-yoer and I used to get discouraged easily. Not any more. I find it a tool to change up my routine. I wish you much luck- you can beat the plateau!

ZUMBA ROCKS!

So I went to my first Zumba class monday night and it was awesome. It is so much fun and such a good work out. I highly recomend it. I am going again tonight and I am planning on going twice a week. I am looking into some other classes that are closer to work and earlier in the day so I can get home early. Right now the class I take is near my house but it starts at 630 and lasts for an hour so I don't get home till almost 8pm. Monday was a holiday so i did not have to work so It wasn't an issue, so we will see how it goes today be gone all day at work, then go to Zumba then home. I hope my little one will still be up when I get home so we can have some play time before bed.

One Month down and 12 lbs!

So I have come to the end of my 4th week. This first month has really gone fast and I am very happy with my results thus far. Starting Alli has been one of the best decisions I have made in a while.

for my first month i was focused on my eating habbits. I havn't yet really picked up on the weekly activity level. I have been taking the stairs more at work, I also will park farther out in the parking lot to pick up extra steps, but I have not started an exercise routine. for my second month that is going to be my goal. Tomorrow I am going to zumba with a friend. She has been going twice a week for about a month and a half now and she loves it! I really hope i enjoy it to because my husband si being supportive of me going and it is not often that he is supportive of me being out of the house in the evening.

So my goal for the next month is to go to zumba twice a week. My only fear is that I will come up with excuses not to go. i have been trying to go for the past couple weeks but each time something has come up and I have not gone. I am hoping I will really like it so I will want to go. We will see how it goes.

    Exercising is so much more fun when you have a set purpose beyond just the workout. Meeting a friend there or a class time that's set is a huge motivator! Enjoy the time out for those workouts!

    Amanda, that's an incredible amount of weight loss for just a month! Congrats. Think of how well you would do if you added a little Zumba too!!! You should take advantage of hubby giving you the go ahead and get out of the house. I think you will be amazed at how good that in and of itself feels. Completing a Zumba class will just be icing on the cake! emoticon
