Well it's an exciting day for me today! I'm leaving for Austin Texas in about an hour!! I'm so pumped to be going back for a few days. My bestest friend is having a baby shower and I'm doing the cooking for it. I can't wait to see her and hug her and hug the babies and just chill out! We are leaving in about an hour, gonna stop in Lake Charles at Cajun Tales for Crawfish Pie (this stuff is so unhealthy but it SO ROCKS!), then on into Texas. We'll get there around midnight I hope. We'll stay the weekend and head about Sunday.

I'm still doing good on my water intake! Right now I'm all bloated and PMSing though. I wish there was a way to feel ok when you feel fat as a hog during this time... any suggestions?

Well, I'm gonna go now and get ready to hit the road Jack! Wooo Hoooo!

Miss me! hehehe

Well Ike only hit us a little bit. Heavy winds and a little rain but nothing too major! Thank Goodness!! I took a drive down to New Orleans this weekend. Well... to Metairie, and was blown away! I've never seen so much water that wasn't called the Ocean! Geezz. In some areas all you could see were the tippy tops of the trees. And the smell was horrid! Crystal said it was swamp gas, whatever that is. It was nasty! She said it doesn't always smell like that, only when it's flooded. Yeah...we'll see! LOL

Well first good stuff. I'm learning my way around this po-dunk little town a little bit. I can find my way to the post office, Wal-mart, Game Stop and the Farmers Market. I can also fine my way to my friend Sarya's house and to a couple family member's homes. But that's about it. I'm also hoping to start Southeastern Louisiana University next semester. I'm trying to get everything taken care of so that can happen! LSU doesn't have a Psychology program or I'd go there. Oh well, their loss! Ummm... let's see. OH oh oh and I'm now honored to be a Leader type person on one of my Spark Teams, Psychic Sparkers!! I'm being a Co-Leader on the Paranormal and Spirituality board and I'm the Leader on the Signs=Omens=Mythology board! I'm very excited about this!! Can ya tell? hehehehe. I think that's about it for right now.

And now the other stuff, I'm having some trouble getting my water in every day. I think this is because I'm over sleeping. Which I can't really figure out either. I have little to no energy. So I'm not exercising like I should. I have a headache I can't shake that is causing me to get dizzy (almost euphoric feeling) at random times. It's all very weird. But I'll figure it out I hope.

Well that's all from my end! I hope everyone is going positively wonderful!

TTFN (ta-ta for now)

So we made it through Gustov. Not what I call a good time. We lost all our food. Our animals have no food. Our payday doesn't come till the 15th. We are struggling. BUT I have to be positive about this because at least we didn't lose our car or our home. We have family that had a tree land on their chimney. Luckily it didn't break it too bad. Crystal's dad had so many downed trees and power lines around him that we couldn't get to home for a couple days and even then we had to carefully crawl over the downed trees. She has a cousin who is still without power too and according to the power company she won't get it back until September 21st. It's been an experience for sure. And now here comes Ike. Not sure what to do about this one. I'm seriously considering going back home for this one if I could figure out a way to do it. I'd go to my Pom-Pom's (that's my Grandfather) if I could. Hmmm.... think I'll give him a call and see what we can do about this.

We also have a new addition to our family. We took in a little refugee from Gustov. She looks to be about 3 months old or so. Her name is Autumn and she's the cutest little round faced kitty ever. I'll post a picture of her when I can.

I was hoping to see my friend Julia while she was here but I didn't get to. Haven't heard from her either. I've been worried about her. I met another friend during all this. She lives here in Denham. And another one who lives in Metarie (I think that's how you spell it?). He is still without power and no signs of getting it back anytime soon.

The people down here are really different. Some are just yucky and others are just angels! And it's a pretty stark line between them too. Doesn't seem to be any in between.

I haven't been able to eat very healthy lately. I'm not happy about that. It's nigh on impossible to find healthy meats. We went all over the place trying to find meat that wasn't injected with hormones and trying to find low sodium ham. I was told by one of the butchers that "that's not a big concern for us anyway" when I asked what he meant by that he said "We're just gonna fry it anyway so no one really cares about that stuff." I was appalled and he was laughing at me. Very upsetting. They do have a little fresh produce market but the prices are pretty out there!

Trying to adjust down here is a challenge. But I'm trying. First the move and now hurricanes. I'm wondering if my life will ever be calm again.

Oh on a good note, I have been in contact with a couple of the gyms down here and they look kind of promising. So maybe I'll at least be able to do that and enjoy it. I'm just trying to decide if I should go with one that has a pool or one that have better staff but no pool. Tough choice.

Talk to y'all later! Hope all is well!!!

More challenges? Just what you needed, right? Remember you are in the part of the world that gave us deep fried Snickers. There have to be places for healthier choices just keep looking.

Glad you’re back!

So.. Howdy

Thursday, August 21, 2008

So we are now in Denham Springs. Been here a couple weeks. Not sure if it's just the aftermath from the chaos that has been my life, or what, but I haven't been feeling up to par. I'm sure it'll pass though.

I am starting to get used to the area a little bit. Julia (waves at Julia! HI) has been a huge help and source of comfort for me through this move. It was so nice to get here and have someone from SP here to show me that I'm not friendless. The first morning we were here we met for breakfast at Waffle House and then she came and helped us unload our u-haul. It was really nice because it was a lot of work. Julia I can't thank you enough!

We ventured into Baton Rouge over the last weekend and I was able to locate the Barnes and Nobel...This is a very big deal for me since it's like my favorite place ever! LOL. Crystal also took me to a museum and we walked around the Capital and Arsenal Park. It was so great! The history of this area is so rich and still very much alive. It's like those who are from here never forget where it all started. That's such a nice switch from Texas. In Texas people talk a big game but I bet most have no idea the history of the land they live on. Not so here, people know and it's alive! So neat!

I'm going to try to find someone to work out with. I think my body isn't feeling good because I'm not getting active like I should be. So I'm going to start trying to find someone to walk with or maybe someone to go to the gym with.. or something.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well!! I miss y'all!
