As of tomorrow, I will be 22 weeks into my pregnancy. I've been working at watching my food intake and trying to eat healthier. I've increased my dairy and reduced the snacks. My meals haven't changed all that much, but I am definitely eating a little bit less of them. At first, the morning sickness (all day) worked to keep me "off" my food, but that went away around week 13. Now my stomach is feeling the effects of being smaller and kind of squished up in there! It's like natural lap band! It has prompted me to eat more small meals instead of a few bigger ones (I tend to feel very uncomfortable if I overeat at one sitting). This seems to be working very well because my net weight gain over the first five months has only been FOUR pounds! I think I am probably losing the "unwanted" weight and balancing it out with baby's natural growth gains. That's fine with me!
I do have a new goal to get working harder on my fitness. I have a prenatal yoga DVD that I haven't even opened yet. I also haven't been walking as much as I should (although I do get in some every day, but probably only 5-10 minutes). I know that strengthening muscles will help me with labor and delivery, so it's definitely something that I want to take advantage of. My motivation is to be healthy for my new little son and to bounce back as best I can after he's born. Some things going well, some things to work on, as always! But I know I can do it...for him AND for me!

I have had a really tough week in terms of my fitness goals...scheduling snafus and travel helped to kick me off the wagon for a few days. However, I did get myself up and around early this morning to get in my Wii workout (and, yes, it was a workout...I did sweat!). I feel more energized today and am enjoying my Friday more than I think I would have otherwise.
My husband and I went for a walk last night (had planned a workout, but cooking and prep for dinner filled up all my time, a bit unexpectedly). Unfortunately, we were only out for 10 minutes before the rain started to fall, so we came back home (I HATE getting rained on...long story!). I still got in a little though, so not a total loss!
I need to start to include the strength training sessions picked for me by SP. I can get in my cardio through various methods, but it's not really any strength training.
So, new goals for me:
-Keep on with the early morning cardio as many days a week as possible, but at least 6
-Include the strength training 4 days a week as well.
-Keep up with my nutrition efforts
Bonus for me...it was my weigh-in goal day I set on my Wii...and I MADE my goal!!! Little flowers popped up when this was acknowledged!! Yay! Even though I was unable to get in the fitness minutes I wanted, I kept up with my nutritional goals and managed to get off the extra 2 pounds this week. Just imagine what I can do if I combine the two of them!
And my extra motivation coming from a fellow sparker (and sorority sister!) this morning. Even having someone check in with you is a great boost, and I definitely have always had trouble with motivation, so it helps a LOT.

I had set fitness goals for myself a long time ago here on SP. Well, as of this month, I've been exceeding them to the point that the site suggested I change them up! So, I added on more cardio and revised my strength training (which I definitely need to do more of).
I'm am pretty pleased with my progress so far. A DZ sister challenged me to get my lazy self out of bed in the mornings -- EVERY MORNING -- and work out. While that hasn't been possible 100% of the time (due to travel and other activities that take up unexpected time) I have been pretty good for these first 22 days. I have certainly not kept up with any fitness regimen for so long in my whole life, so that says something right there!
I now want to make sure that I exercise at least 6 days a week with cardio and get in 4 days with strength training. Most of the strength routines don't require much equipment, so I can do them in my office once everyone else has left (ha!). I do have a resistance band here, so that will work great.
Feeling better, stronger, and more energetic. I went up the stairs at my parking garage yesterday and was not nearly as out of breath as I used to be (3rd floor, steep steps). I recovered much quicker and my knees didn't hurt so much. I want to be able to go up the stairs at work (LOTS of them) by the fall without feeling like I want to pass out...new goal!

Well, I've made it my first two weeks of challenging myself with new fitness goals. With only a few exceptions (holiday travelling), I have successfully gotten in my daily morning workouts of at least 30 minutes. It hasn't been easy some days...getting out of bed at 5 am can be the last thing you want to do when you're tired, but I've found that doing this exercise helps me get my day going and has given me new bursts of energy. Some of my regular aches and pains have also started to subside, which is wonderful!
Most of the time I'm looking forward to the workout...I know it will make me feel good and I will also get a sense of accomplishment. Logging in my fitness minutes later in the day can be very satisfying as well!
Now, if only I could get my husband to join in...!

I haven't been on this site in quite awhile. Got married last year and have been super busy with life. Well, I realize that I need to work on some personal goals to make my life better. One of those is to get off this extra weight. I want to have children, and this is getting in my way (I'm 40, so I don't have a lot of time to mess around!).
I've been working out at least 30 minutes a day on my Wii Fit, which has really helped. I'm getting up extra early to get in the workout before taking a shower and getting ready for work, and it's helped with the aches and pains a little bit. I've been doing this since July 1, and it's not easy for someone who really hates getting up early, but I've tried to stick to it. Only a few days had no success in doing this, but mostly because I was travelling or already somewhere other than home.
The progress has been small, but it has been there. I know that I need to also alter the way I eat, and I've been making little changes. Trying not to snack when I get home (I really LOVE the flavored pretzel pieces, but I've tried not to buy them so there's not a temptation. Too bad...they're awfully tasty!) Getting home at night and putting dinner on the table as quickly as possible has helped, although it's still late, so I need to incorporate some healthy snacks to ward off the genuine hunger that happens (because of husband's work schedule, it is nearly impossible to eat before 8:30 or 9 pm, unfortunately).
Taking those small steps, but trying really hard not to fall off the path this time. Back to sparkpeople to inspire and educate me!
