WW meetings re-joined

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Hi everyone,
I am back at the meetings and think that I am more determined since I am paying more attention as to how I can get to goal. Tracking is a must for me and it does help me lose.
I do not try to track on both Spark and E-tools, because it just takes too much time.
I do try to keep my fitness tracked on Spark and lately have had to be less active. Had two cataract surgeries and was told by my dr. I had to wait two weeks after each surgery to go back to my Aerobic classes. So meanwhile have been walking each day if possible so that I can keep up my momentum. emoticon Can anyone relate to this? I just think doing the best I can when there is a health issue is all I can expect of myself and remaining positive no matter what. Thanks for reading my blog and let me know how you are doing too. Spark friends are wonderful and we are all going through many of the same issues. We CAN DO IT!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
Oh, meant to say, sorry if I have not been in touch as much, but do think of you on your journey. Keep in touch with me, if you can fit it in. Any advice is appreciated. We are in this together for better health habits that become Routine.

    Hi Friend!
Good for you on your WW rejoin. I know tracking, of any kind, helps...on Spark, WW or a food diary...whatever works! This is a lifestyle and we need to make it work so we will do it! I agree that when there are health issues you work with them doing the best you can...adjusting when necessary! Congrats on your successful eye surgery...and follow the can get back in a routine when healed!
Take care!

You are doing the best you can for now. I love walking and when I hurt my back in 2010, I thought I'd never be able to take my long walks again, but I did. I started with a cane, until I was able to walk on my own again. That is all that we can do, be patient with ourselves, do the best we can with what we've got! emoticon My best wishes for you on Weight Watchers! You are giving yourself a great gift! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

An evidence-based approach - from Authority Nutrition

Sunday, August 04, 2013

Today I received a long article from a very health conscious friend. I took lots of notes for myself, but it was a very long and informative article and worth reading and sharing. There were two web sites mentioned, one was www.Authority Nutrition and the second was If you are interested check them out.
One long article was called:
"9 reasons to avoid sugar as if your life depended on it." emoticon
Very informative and had lots of comments too. Being that Sugar is a "TRIGGER" food
for me, I was happy to find out so much about this. Another article talks about how- Grains are slowly killing us........Take it for what it is worth to you..... The second web site gave lots of articles on nutrition and what is healthy, meal plans, recipes and lots more. So, even though this is not my words, I thought some people may be interested in reading some new thoughts and ideas on Wellness. Let me know if any of this is helpful to you. I am a long way to getting to goal, but do enjoy new articles to help me lose weight. It is a daily chore, but so necessary to become healthier and feel and look better. I need to do this and will not quit. No one ever said it was going to be easy
to plan healthier habits and get in a trim looking shape. Many of you have motivated me to keep trying and keep pushing We are worth it!! emoticon emoticon Thanks for reading and hope we can help each other and Spark our motivation up!! hugs to all, Irish Ei emoticon

Five short chapters

Monday, June 17, 2013

Several years ago someone gave me this cute story and I came across it today when I
was looking for something else. I thought I would like to share this with you dear Spark friends. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Cute and oh so true with so many things in life. Being Spark healthy people who keep at it daily, I think you will enjoy this little story. emoticon Life is full of choices we get to make and sometimes it takes awhile before we figure it out and "JUST do the next right thing." emoticon

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost...I am helpless
...It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I cannot believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it there.
I still fall in...It's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

I walk down another street. Portia Nelson {autobiography in five short chapters)

Thanks for visiting me and my blog today. Have a wonderful day and keep watching
where you walk. Remember there is another path if we are on the wrong one. God bless. We are all winners since we do show up each day on this Fantastic website.
Thank you SPARK for all you do for us.
Lots of hugs, Irish Ei emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you for the reminder that it is possible to find our way even though it isn't evident at the time. It is true that we often continue to do the same things over and over with the same results. However, as we learn how to do things differently unexpected things will happen. I have learned many things from my Spark friends which has made a big difference in my life. emoticon

Mourning of a Spark friend

Saturday, June 15, 2013

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Hello dear Spark friends, good morning to you. Twice now this has happened to me and two friends from Spark-- are now gone. it is so hard to explain the feeling I have. Special friends on Spark are the ones you talk to daily and when they are no longer here, it is so sad and hard to accept. The most recent friend, who has passed, had been ill and she did share some of her illness with me. I think what makes it hard to accept is, there is no closure when someone is far away and you cannot go to the wake or funeral. So now, all I can do is cherish the precious memories and fun talks we had. Her family has to be devastated. I am hoping she is no longer in pain and is in a better place now. God bless her and let her know I enjoyed our three years of friendship and sharing.
Everyday is precious and not to be taken for granted. Enjoy your family, friends and loved ones and spend time together. Thanks for letting me share these sad feelings with all of you. I feel like she was a gift to me and really felt lucky to have known her. I celebrate her life now and will keep all her family in my prayers. They will really miss her so much.
Hope all the Father's out here in Spark have a Happy Father's day tomorrow. Thanks for reading and being such a special website for me and all the joys and motivating times we have gone through together. We are really in cyberspace when you think of it. Do take care. I love you all! hugs, Irish Ei

Random acts of Kindness

Thursday, April 25, 2013

"Today is the first day of the rest of your life." Make it a good day and reach for the stars!! Track your food, burn some calories, smile and make a plan. It is all up to us.
We can do it. Sharing with others and being positive really is a way to keep motivated. Random acts of kindness are wonderful to receive and give. Do something nice for someone and don't tell anyone. In other words, give for the sake of giving and not expecting anything in return. It is amazing the joy you will feel inside afterward. As in all things ask for God's blessings each day to do the next right thing. The journey to better health can be long, but can be rewarding!! If we plan our day with goals in mind, smiles and gratitude for all we are lucky enough to have it will be so much easier. We can do it!! Keep Sparkin and Don't sweat the small stuff, do one thing at at time, quiet your mind and you will develop your passion.

Many of these thoughts I learned through trial and error and also a great read,
by Richard Carlson, "Don't sweat the small stuff.....and it's all small stuff."
Thanks for reading my blog. Let's help each other plan for success. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
hugs and best wishes dear friends, Irish Ei

    Love your blog !!!

Just want to share that my daily 6 hour job requires me to smile and be welcoming and I do it because I love it !!!! I get all the acknowledgement and compliments from those that I greet everyday and it feels good to be good to others. If we all were just nice to others with a positive attitude there just may be peace in this world.......

I can only imagine !!!!

This is a story that was originally in the AA Big Book written by Bill Wilson & Dr. Bob. They used it to describe an addictive personality

However, it sure does explain a strong-willed personality. Thank you for the reminder.

emoticon blog Ei. Lots of true words written in your blog.

I am not religious, but am always so very thankful to have been born in such a wonderful place. We live so 'richly' compared to 80% of the world. It's frightening!!

Even with ordinary 'room' is quite astounding when you think of places the same size as Tasmania. Example is Sri Lanka, same size and they squash in 80 million people. Whew! How do they live like that?? We have just under 1/2 million here and that's enough.

Plenty of food, plenty of good weather, plenty of $$, plenty of all mod cons, even one of the fastest internet setups in the world. We make the best wine, the best cheese, we have the best fruit and veggies and breed the best meat on the hoof.

Like I said, I am not religious, but must've done something right in a past life, eh.

I just wish everyone was as 'blessed' as I am. emoticon
