My first TOPS Weigh-inWednesday, September 09, 2009I had my first weigh-in with TOPS yesterday and I lost 1.75 pounds! I'm happy that I was able to do that because I wasn't exactly an angel when it came to my eating since it was that time of the month not to mention it was a holiday weekend. But I was able to make it through without gaining. Yay me! I had my first workout with my trainer at 6am on Monday. I fell off the treadmill and scraped some skin off my hand but it wasn't anything major. It was kind of funny though. Long story short, he basically told me to stop running and he didnt slow it down or press stop and I went flying! The first workout wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'm a little sore but not as much as I expected to be. I will let you know how workout #2 goes. ![]()

Last night around 3 am I had an acid reflux attack or indigestion of some sorts. I was awakened by a burning sensation in my throat and it was just too uncomfortable for me to lie down. I needed something to make be belch and couldn’t find any soda so I took a couple sips of beer, belched, and went to sleep for a few more hours. I think it was the cookies that I ate before I went to bed and the crumbs I ate this morning. Yes I ate cookie crumbs for breakfast, sad I know. My cycle causes me to crave sweets but I am going to have to find a new way to satisfy that craving if what happened last night is the result of it. I was doing some research online and the very foods that I love especially during that time of the month should be avoided. I also found out that I should avoid acidic foods and beverages. Duh! I thought I was helping the situation by drinking beer but I guess I made it worse. I stopped in Walgreens for Rolaids and a cherry coke (and drank most of it before I was able to research foods to avoid) So I am DONE! I can’t continue to fill by body with garbage. It's not worth it. What I felt last night was one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world. On a positive note, I had my first official TOPS meeting as a member and it was great! They gave rewards for weight loss and inspiration. My goal is to lose 2-3 pounds so that I can ring that bell next week! (we ring the bell when we weigh in if we lose) May God be with me.

Congrats on making the decision to cut out certain bad foods. Why does bad food taste so good?1?!?! Good luck with TOPS!

Congrats! I really like my TOPS group. Everyone is really nice and my chapter focuses on commmunity service alot so I'm excited!

I joined TOPS today too. I have a friend who avoids that reflux very well by avoiding certain foods, so I hope you can too.

Good for you for making the RIGHT decision to stop putting garbage in your body. I've found that the hurt that you get from these foods is worse than the good taste of the food. I've had to stop eating lots of foods that I like and as you get older, that list gets longer. ...so nip it in the bud as soon as you can. Good luck with TOPS; keep us posted on your progress.
