Hanging on by the hair of my chiny chin chin

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I have not been to a TOPS meeting in 2 weeks because I know that I have gained. My boyfriend and I eat out quite a bit and I havenít been watching what I have been eating lately. I am still going to go to the meeting tonight just for support and encouragement because I need it. I have to keep on this journey because my life depends on it. I donít have any health problems that require medication due to my weight and I would like to prevent that from happening. I have to do better with my eating because that is 80% of losing weight. We have decided that we are going to work out together 3 times a week and Sunday morning was our first day. I tried to get out of going so early in the morning but I was talked into and I was glad I did. It was a pretty good workout and I look forward to the one tomorrow. I will let you know how much I gained the next time I blog.

I actually lost! 1.8 pounds to be exact! I just have to keep up with exercise and don't eat everything that is offered to me. I'm so glad I didn't skip the meeting.

I haven't blogged in a few weeks due to a bad sinus infection amongst other things. At my last TOPS weigh in I gained 1.4 pounds and I know it was because of all the sweets I consumed during my time of the month. All I can do is push forward. I will not lose this battle. My sessions with my trainer are complete and after we had a discussion about everything that happened I actually considered buying some more sessions but since he's not in the budget right now, I guess I will be doing solo workouts. My friends and I played tennis doubles this past Saturday and it was soooo much fun! I think I have found a new recreational sport. I also just found out that the YMCA near my house has racquetball courts so I will probably look into that for the winter months because it is starting to get cold here.

I met a new guy about a month ago and so far so good! He's so sweet and treats me better than anyone I have ever been with. I don't know how long the honeymoon will last but I am going to enjoy it while its here! We are going to start working out together because he wants to lose some weight too. Having a partner on this journey sounds like a plan to me!

I'm doing a presentation at my TOPS meeting tomorrow. I've been retaining water and had a bad food week, so I gained two weeks in a row. Have fun with your new friend.

The dish about my trainer

Friday, September 18, 2009

Working out with a trainer is a great thing if you can afford it because you get personalized attention and he/she can move at your pace. I love it. Itís the best thing that I have ever done for myself. However, I think I made a mistake when I tried to mix a personal relationship with a business relationship. He has gotten way too comfortable and has changed times on me more than once and it's only been 2 weeks. He hasnít weighed or measured me nor does he record anything that I do during our workouts so I donít know how he is going to measure my progress. I weigh myself because I got to TOPS but he hasnít done anything of the sorts. Not to mention the treadmill incident and the fact that he came to my house prior to one of our sessions and helped himself to a sandwich in my kitchen without even asking! He and I donít have that kind of relationship where he can come into my home and help himself to what he wants so that was totally out of line(I was in the bathroom when he made it). I had to tell him about himself and that was the point when I realized that once the sessions that I have paid for are done, so is he. I am joining the YMCA and working with a certified trainer that will be professional and will give me what I pay for. Well at least I gave him a try and it just wasnít a good fit for us. emoticon

Good idea to go to the Y. And you gave a friend a try. He dropped the ball, was unprofessional and doesn't have much integrity.
So far, I'm loving TOPS. I think it is much more personal than WW meetings, each member has a chance to get involved, not just sit and listen to the leader.

Wow! First of all you should inform him take you paid for a service. It is his responsible to do his job. If your not pleased with what he is lacking request another trainer. Like you said this is a expensive service and this is your time invested. I would discontinue all other contact with him otherwise. This sounds like he has done this before and he is just working the club.

My first TOPS Weigh-in

Wednesday, September 09, 2009

I had my first weigh-in with TOPS yesterday and I lost 1.75 pounds! I'm happy that I was able to do that because I wasn't exactly an angel when it came to my eating since it was that time of the month not to mention it was a holiday weekend. But I was able to make it through without gaining. Yay me! I had my first workout with my trainer at 6am on Monday. I fell off the treadmill and scraped some skin off my hand but it wasn't anything major. It was kind of funny though. Long story short, he basically told me to stop running and he didnt slow it down or press stop and I went flying! The first workout wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'm a little sore but not as much as I expected to be. I will let you know how workout #2 goes.

Acid Reflux Attacks!

Wednesday, September 02, 2009

Last night around 3 am I had an acid reflux attack or indigestion of some sorts. I was awakened by a burning sensation in my throat and it was just too uncomfortable for me to lie down. I needed something to make be belch and couldnít find any soda so I took a couple sips of beer, belched, and went to sleep for a few more hours. I think it was the cookies that I ate before I went to bed and the crumbs I ate this morning. Yes I ate cookie crumbs for breakfast, sad I know. My cycle causes me to crave sweets but I am going to have to find a new way to satisfy that craving if what happened last night is the result of it. I was doing some research online and the very foods that I love especially during that time of the month should be avoided. I also found out that I should avoid acidic foods and beverages. Duh! I thought I was helping the situation by drinking beer but I guess I made it worse. I stopped in Walgreens for Rolaids and a cherry coke (and drank most of it before I was able to research foods to avoid) So I am DONE! I canít continue to fill by body with garbage. It's not worth it. What I felt last night was one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world. On a positive note, I had my first official TOPS meeting as a member and it was great! They gave rewards for weight loss and inspiration. My goal is to lose 2-3 pounds so that I can ring that bell next week! (we ring the bell when we weigh in if we lose) May God be with me.

I joined TOPS today too. I have a friend who avoids that reflux very well by avoiding certain foods, so I hope you can too.

Good for you for making the RIGHT decision to stop putting garbage in your body. I've found that the hurt that you get from these foods is worse than the good taste of the food. I've had to stop eating lots of foods that I like and as you get older, that list gets longer. ...so nip it in the bud as soon as you can.

Good luck with TOPS; keep us posted on your progress.
