I had a feeling it was going to happen and it did but it still sucks!
I was 159lbs before Christmas and am now 163.6lbs.
In stead of grumbling in private I had to this publicly in order to kick my butt back in gear. Worked too damn hard to lose 50lbs to let it sneak up on me.
So I'm altering my goals, I'd love to get down to 150lbs and I need to tone this year. Get rid of the flabby arms. I'm about to slap people in the face with them when I'm in zumba class lol.
Today, I'll be taking all the chocolate and candy that's sitting around in bowls in the kitchen (DAMN YOU CHRISTMAS GOODNESS!) and put it all out of sight. Wish I could throw it away or even better hand it out to the neighbors kids or something but my husband and son would throw a fit if I did that. They like their sweets.
But to remind myself of my original quote when I started Sparkpeople
"I can do this, I have to do this... "
LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!
Happy New Year and may 2013 be the year we reach more goals!!!!!
EDIT: I removed my 50lbs lost sparkpeople picture, because I only lost 47lbs right now. It hurt removing it and seeing 47lbs on my ticker. Let's earn it back!
As of today I have officially made it to my 50lbs goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so happy!!!!
And as I head towards year 3 of me working out (and healthy lifestyle), the third year will be dedicated to TONING!
*happy dance* So happy right now!!!
the first year: Was dedicated to finding my workout routine. things I like and worked for me. Mainly Zumba! My food wasn't really on track yet so I flunked losing weight that year BUT my stamina went way up
the second year: Will go down in history as the weight loss year. I kept up my zumba and added weight training. I also discovered Sparkpeople the tool I so needed to track my food and figure it all out.
the third year: Toning! I can't wait to see what I will look like 1 year from now!
I want to add pictures but our hard drive died a few months ago and until we get the money to fix it I'm not able to retrieve any pictures from it :(. Anybody got a $1.000 anywhere?!
But here's a fairly recent picture of myself and my son (October)
I want my progress pictures back! poo
In the last 2 years:
*I have run a 5k,
*Lost the weight I desperately needed gone,
*I have become a fitness instructor (my love for zumba is now my job!)
*Am more confident than ever
*Gone from obese BMI to healthy BMI!
*Made new friends at the gym
*... there are so many things, little things but they all mean so much to me
I am hoping to try going off my anti depressant medication in the near future.
(wish me luck on the one )
Thank you for reading! Wishing you all Happy Holidays and an amazing and healthy 2013!!!!!!!!!!!
10 mins ago, getting close to my 50lbs goal I decided to calculate my BMI again.
In all honesty I need to lose a bit more than 50lbs but it was a surreal number to begin with. I was shocked when I read the following
"Your BMI is: 24.5
You are in the NORMAL weight range."
My heart skipped 3 beats and typing this now I can feel tears wanting to flow.
I made it to NORMAL!
Immediately I had to share it with a few people who have been inspiring in my journey. Lastly I emailed 3 of my favorite ZUMBA instructors. They fueled my love for this class in a way I am now a ZUMBA instructor myself
This is what I emailed them:
I wanted to share this with you ladies because you're such a big part of my inspiration in my fitness life.
Heather THANK YOU, for telling me about Sparkpeople. Those trackers were EXACTLY what I needed to figure out my path.
"Your BMI is: 24.5. You are in the NORMAL weight range."
YES! YES! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My BMI was 31 when I started my journey, now 49lbs down I made it to NORMAL!
So close to my 50lbs goal. I am so happy!!!!!
You girls are the best, thanks for making me sweat. I hated jumping jacks Stacey but now they're a breeze. When I started out I thought I was gonna keel over doing all the jumping you all make us do. Never thought they'd become easy. I've come such a long way and sharing all my little victories with all of you has kept me accountable and on track. I didn't wanna come in and tell ya I gained weight, so it for sure kept me where I needed to be
YES!!! I could cry right now.
Life has changed and will NEVER be the same as it was in the past. I've lost weight before but not like this. I'm dedicated to working out, I'm a fitness instructor for Pete's sake! ME!!!! And my journey is going well. I teach 2 classes per week and just yesterday I had a job interview to go teach in another place as well. And guess what! They approached me!
Life is beautiful and I'm going to live it to it's fullest!
My last blog entry was about my job application to become a zumba instructor.
UPDATE! I got hired!!!
And today I DID IT!!! I got to teach a song for the very first time. =D I'm going through a training period where I team teach for a certain amount of time. Start out small with one song, see how that goes and build from there.
I was so scared, the class was PACKED, wall to wall. I told the class I was scared lol, that got some of the anxiety out of the way. And it went well, i didn't forget my routine and everybody behind me was doing what i was doing =D
They applauded after i was done ^_^ got lots of pats on the back too.
Somewhere toward the end of October I should be good to go to teach class by myself.
I'M A FITNESS INSTRUCTOR!!! CAN YA BELIEVE IT?!
Life is NOTHING like it used to be. I was always the big girl, I was shy and insecure and hated my body. Hated working out (partly because I was so self conscious). Now I'm in shape (not quite where I want to be yet though), growing stronger and leaner every day.
I LOVE working out and am at the gym twice a day most days.
To top it off I am now hired as a fitness instructor. . I can't even really believe it. I could cry I'm so happy
Exciting news, I'n getting certified to teach zumba on October 13th. Still a little ways a way. I've been training and working on routines for the last month and a half. (the norm is you start working on routines AFTER you get certified, I'm too impatient to wait )
Our gym has quite a bit of zumba instructors already so I wasn't getting my hopes up on getting hired there. Plus an instructor told me that most people seem to get certified and automatically assume they'll get to teach a class at our YMCA. Wrong!
Last week I asked the lady who is in charge of all the classes if I could sign up for a CPR certification class (you need it to teach). She said they were for employees only =\...
Shen she asked me if I had already filed an application or not. :-O !!
She then insisted I'd get started on that and gave me paperwork. This upcoming week I should get a call from her to go in for interview. This is NO guarantee I'll get a class but it felt amazing that she wanted to snatch me up 2 months before I even get certified! The studio I train and practice is right next to her office. I go in every chance when there is no class going on in there.
