This evening, I used my old vacuum and did the other half of the basement where the wood stove is. I moved some things around and made a "U shaped" sitting area across from the entertainment center where the TV is, with the glider rocker, antique sofa, swivel rocker and foot rest. My husband helped me to move the heavy stuff and the next areas will be the hearth and the workshop.
I really like to use cleaning as my exercise. I feel like I am getting rid of the dirt on the surfaces and trimming down my body as I work. Also having some goals helps me to get started on them instead of thinking, "I am hungry, what's there to eat?"
We called an appliance repairman tonight. He has been here once before. The door seal needs replaced on my upright freezer, the insulation on the oven door is hanging down and the cover over the oven window doesn't work when I put it on self-clean. The cup for the detergent dispenser isn't working on the dishwasher and last night it sounded like sand pebbles were in there rattling around when I ran the dishwasher. I also want him to tell me if I need to buy new appliances since we bought the house with these appliances in it. The upright freezer was ours from the old house.
The clothes washer was wired to the light switch at the top of the basement stairs. Imagine this: When I put a load of laundry in the washer and came up out of the basement and shut off the lights, I turned off my washer. If I went to the basement 3 hours later and turned on the lights, the washer was running and I thought it had been running for 3 hours, but never completed the cycle. If I went to the basement without turning on the lights, water could be in the tub depending on where it was in the cycle when I went upstairs and shut off the lights.
So I really don't trust that the former owners took care of their appliances. Maybe they bought some old ones and put them in and took theirs, who knows! But after living here for three years, I am finding all the quirks in things.
I did some laundry today and put that away and washed dishes by hand. We called the repairman after hours, so I could write everything down that needed to be repaired and discuss it with my husband to see if he wanted to get it all done at the same time. He called the repairman himself.
The old energy that I had when I was down 40 pounds in 2010, is starting to come back and I love it. The challenge I am in that started January 1st is working some areas that I have pain in like my shoulder and muscles that I don't use much. I am working at the exercises. I use the pause button a lot and try to preview the video so I know what I should be doing. I don't have a laptop computer and I don't have good vision at a distance, I am short sighted. I wear glasses, but I can't watch and do some of the exercises and the coach even says to keep your head down for some of them. A preview of the video before starting to do the exercise helps.
I hope all of my Spark friends are starting the new year with perseverance toward good health.

My prayer for you for 2012
May your heart trust in the Shepherd to guide you through each day,
may His peace be your assurance, as you follow in His way.
May your heart trust in the Saviour to keep you in His love,
may He fill your life with good things and blessings from above.
We went to church this morning and a lady brought some kindling for us and some newspapers to use to light the stove with. She is the one that had a chimney fire, but the repairs aren't finished on her house yet. They can't burn wood until everything is taken care of.
I tried my Dyson tonight. It was windy and had rained earlier. I wanted to go for a walk but decided to do cleaning since hubby has plans for tomorrow. The house needed a good vacuuming. I did all of the main level and the landing to the basement, under the cushions on the couch and loveseat, my husband's recliner and all of the cushions and throw pillows on the couch and love seat. I also did in the vegetable bin and got up the onion skins and dirt that came off of potatoes my brother-in-law gave to us and cleaned inside of the basket for Princess' toys.
I sent my husband to the basement to watch TV while I moved the furniture in the living room and vacuumed under it. He gives the dog large dog biscuits while we eat and she takes them into the living room to eat them. When you walk in your bare feet, you can feel the pieces that she leaves embedded in the carpeting.
I have early Salvation Army and Goodwill decor. Our furniture has always been given to us. I do have lamps that we bought and my husband bought a new bedroom suit for us once we moved to this house. There is nothing wrong with what I have, but I do like to have things neat and clean, yet, I rarely achieve that.
Hubby is talking about splitting more wood tomorrow and we are supposed to have a wind chill factor in the teens soon . I will have to listen to the weather online to see what the forecast is.
I hope everyone had a happy New Year's Day. We had chili and hot dogs for lunch. Nobody wanted to eat it again for supper, so I had a salad for my supper. Hubby cooked for us today and I napped.

My husband didn't clean out the wood stove this morning, maybe because we don't have any trash bags. I couldn't get the house above 64 degrees. I slept in the basement again, not in the bed.
I cleaned the broom and long-handled dust pan today, swept the cellar steps (outside entrance) and carried in wood. We are supposed to have a temperature drop after the new year. It was 27 degrees here this morning.
I think I am coming down with something. My throat feels scratchy and I have a headache. A lady at church was sick last night and was using hand sanitizer after using a tissue. I could tell she had throat problems because she kept trying to clear her throat.
Many I know have had sickness recently. Some had bronchitis and some were hospitalized with pneumonia. Others had stomach problems with vomiting and diarrhea. Whatever it is, it is hard-hitting and people were sick for several days even after being given antibiotics. I don't want to catch it. I take a multi-vitamin daily and find that it helps. I also wash my hands after covering a cough or sneeze or using a tissue.
I don't have much to write about. I pray none of my friends get sick this winter.
Hubby is home from work and said there were logs in the stove and he had no place to put them while he tried to get at the ashes. I understand that, but as the temperatures drop, we are going to have to figure out a way to get them out so we can get a good fire going. The ashes seem to cause the wood to burn very slowly and not put out the heat we need to heat the house. The basement stays toasty, but you need to dress warmly to be upstairs.
