Trying to get back into the swing of things......

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I am so disappointed in myself right now. It has now officially been 2.5 months that I have done ANY "real" working out. I just can't believe that I did all that work just to quit on myself. I know I can do this but something keeps stoppin me. I say to myself, "I am gonna workout today" and it just never happens. I need to be kicked!! emoticon

HI nice to see you around again, don't be too hard on yourself, just get your mindset back where you want it. Do start with baby steps, take a small walk, and just go a few steps farther each time-thats what I did when I started. pretty soon you will be back at it. Playing with the kids is listed as a cardio exercise on the fittness logger. Walk the dog. whatever you need to do.

You can do it, start with something small, rolling around with the dog and kids and move it up the next day. I have faith in you, let's get it going!! emoticon

Baby steps. I know how hard it is to get back into the swing of things after time off. Try to start super small, with activities you enjoy. Now that Spring is coming, go for walks... I find that if I just get started (telling myself that I'll only go for 10-15 min) I'll keep going a little longer. If I'm tired, I'll call it quits early, and try again later. Good luck! emoticon

Don't be so hard on yourself. Ok so it's been 2.5 months but you didn't give up on yourself...you're here aren't you? That's a step in the right direction. Hang in there and good luck!

I have lost my spark.....

Monday, December 22, 2008

Seriously tho.....this weather here in Washington is just killing me. Over a foot of snow where I live and I have been home bound. Can we say "irritating"?? I am going to make it through this holiday and get back on track. I feel horrible cause I know I should be doing something but it's like I am paralyzed. Not sure why but I just feel like not doing anything.

It's not even snowing here but I have had the blahs too. I think part of it is it is tough to keep up the high level of enthusiasm day-in and day-out. But just keep bouncing back!!! I'm doing housework for cardio and lifting weights here and there, once in a while I get a big burst and go for it. Just tread water till the wave comes over you and never give up!! You are almost to the 20# lost line and I am almost to the 30# lost line. We are both within 2-3 pounds of our next great thing. LET'S DO THIS!!!

I was right there with you, I am so glad the snow is gone, let me tell you! I was ready to cry being cooped up in this apartment with hubby and the kids, lol! If it was just the kids it would have be fine but when hubby can't go to work, ugh!!! He drives me crazy! :) Hope you had a great Navidad - whatcha up to for New Year's?

Maybe you should try bundling up and going sledding. I sledded with the kids the other day and it was great exercise. That cold air will wake you up for sure!

I can relate, I am not a cold and snow lover. I want to hibernate in the winter so I have to force myself to move it. So far I am doing a fair job. Hang in there

I know how you feel about the snow. We have about 18-24 inches here. It's beautiful, but can make you feel like doing nothing. Remember, it is easier to keep going with your program then it is to stop and start again. Good Luck!

The best thing you can do is just not give up. When the going gets rough, don't expect as much from yourself as when you are feeling great! Pick two or even one small goal to accomplish each day.... that will help you to feel like you are doing something even if you don't feel up to doing everything! Hope this helps! And remember you are worth it!!!

I feel so much more active...

Wednesday, December 03, 2008

than I have my whole life. Now don't get me wrong, I still love to sit down and be lazy. But my mind is constantly winning the battle on whether to sit or get off my fat butt and get busy. On Sunday I took my lab for a walk and was only going to walk about 2 miles but decided to keep up going and made it almost 5 miles by the time I got home. Then today I walked 3 miles on the treadmill. Now the whole treadmill thing is rather boring and I have a real hard time getting in my minutes. I like change and the treadmill just doesn't do it for me!! The darn thing is in the garage and I don't have a TV out there (I think that it would make it easier). So even though the scale has not been agreeing with me I am NOT giving in on this weight loss war!!!!!

Boredom can be a real problem... UGH! I love the suggestions Debbie gave you and I hope you can find a solution. I walk indoors as an absolute last resort, but with our wet winters it is more often than I would like. CONGRATS on making a change!

Keep up the good work! I know boredom can be a problem..I have that..lol. I switch out my dvds all the time to try to keep the boredom down. Do you have a little radio you can take with you? I do that when I go to our gym at the complex where I live. I like to go in on Saturdays and walk on the treadmill and listen to NPR. They have some funny shows on in the morning on the weekends. I also have a portable DVD player that I could bring with me if I wanted to watch a movie while I walk. That might be a good idea for ya. I think we got our portable dvd player for pretty inexpensive but its been a few years...lol.
