A nice Sunday

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Hello friendly Sparkpeople.

Today was a nice day for me.
And I hope you had a nice one, too.

I did a lot of yard work today.
In the middle of it, my brother stopped by to help.
The conversation made it go a lot quicker.

Went on a bike ride with my gf in the afternoon.
We tried to do some Geocaching.
She had never done it before.
We searched for two, didn't find either one.
But it was still fun.

Had a nice nap and warmed up.
It was only 65 degrees or so today.

Went to the grocery store for fresh produce.
Ate cherries and blueberries.

Bought some tickets for a band I like tonight.
It's not till November.
I've never seen Built To Spill before.

The end.

I would love to be young enough to grab an adventure like the geothing...I've seen it but not time or energy to get involved. I can't find my shoes in the morning...much less a secret stash!! But have fun and keep Sparkin'!!

Three cheers for a cycling partner!
While birding, we have discovered three caches! It seems like so much fun!
What do you mean 65 degrees????? Is that even possible?
Cherries and blueberries . . . drooling.

Rode bike, me did.

Thursday, July 25, 2013

After what seems like close to two years of no biking, I broke it out tonight.
Filled the tires.
Headed to the library.
Got in about 5 miles.
5 rather huffing and puffing out of shape miles.
But, it was fun and it did feel really good to do it.

Things I smelled on the ride:
Fresh cut grass
Sitting water
Arabic food
and lots and lots of hamburgers on the barbeque.
Lots! It smelled pretty good too.

But I came home and drank water and said hello to my SP friends.

Down 30 lbs today, feeling good!

Monday, July 22, 2013

Hey all!

Today, I hit my -30 mark. I'm happy to be here.

I have mostly been juicing. It really takes a commitment, but I haven't cheated. There have been a couple of times that I've been out and didn't have juice with me, so I substituted melon or a banana. But that works for me.

I definitely consume wildly more fruits and vegetables while juicing. It makes me feel refreshed and healthy, honestly.

Things I've noticed:

* Tying my shoes doesn't make me huff and puff like it sometimes did.
* I don't pop Tums all of the time.
* I'm not constantly yawning and wanting coffee. I did give up coffee while I'm juicing, too, but that's been less of a challenge than I thought.
* I'm pretty awake as soon as I wake up. I don't grog around half the morning. I feel alert.

Grandma says I'm losing too much weight too fast. You know when I started? July 1. Seriously. I see her point, but I feel great, and never lightheaded or dizzy or anything. I needed something to get me going. I wasn't feeling like doing anything. At least now I like to go out for a walk.

Happy Monday everybody.

Everyone does what works for them and this is obviously working for you. At some point do you plan to slowly reintroduce healthy foods besides just the juicing? I did a diet awhile back where I ate this soup and certain foods each day. It was amazing and I lost a ton of weight, but when I started eating normal again I gained back more than I lost. I don't want to see you get discouraged from backsliding later. What is your long-term plan?

Heck yes! And as long as this is sustainable for you (and it seems like you like the benefits too much to stop, so it is) then you'll keep it off. Good for you. :)

Post a picture? Puh-lease.

Thursday, July 18, 2013

When I was re-starting on SP, I took down most of my pics so that I could start fresh.

But then I looked at my current pics, and said to myself, "Oh, dear." I didn't really want to post any of them. I looked almost unrecognizable to myself. And unhealthy. I was so embarassed. I didn't even want my SP friends to see.

But. I figured I should post a couple, and push myself out of my comfort zone, and have something to compare to. So here are a couple.

This is the one that scared me. I had no idea I looked like this to other people. So round. Such posture.

Here's a pic that I took with a nice co-worker who was leaving the company. When I saw it, I looked so monstrous next to this petite little woman. I couldn't believe it.

Is that tea, Al? Or perhaps another hefty Coca-cola? Put it down please.

I know! I'll take a picture of me EATING! lol.

Well, anyway. Here's my BEFORE pics.
Already, I've lost 20+ pounds and I feel great, and I look a little different from these pics, too. My belt went in a notch further, and that's a great feeling.

I'll post more soon.
Later, SPeeps.

I bought a new juicer.

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Hey, this is Albert.

I've been so unmotivated, for so long.
I was really ENJOYING over eating, whatever I wanted.
I knew it was terrible, but I love to eat.

Then James Gandolfini died.

I'm a big man, like he was. I'm probably 5 or 6 years younger. So it hit home a little.

I started raw juicing last week, just to try it. I kinda wanted to do something to kickstart me into action. Something that would make me feel different.

Juicing sure makes me feel different. I feel GOOD when I drink a big ole green juice. Like when you have a delicious salad and you know you chalked up a great meal.

Anyway, I feel good.

I was shooting for a week, which technically, I just hit tonight. I had some snacks on the rough days, but all fruit or romaine leaves or something. The third day was the toughest. It was the holiday weekend, and I wanted some hot dogs. Lots of hot dogs. I had some cantaloupe instead.

The juicer I had was a total beater that a coworker bought me at the resale shop for $10. A Kenwood. Kenwood makes juicers?! This one is so old I can't even find a picture of it online. It fits about 1 carrot at a time.

I looked at some new ones over the weekend. Dang! You could fit your ARM down these new juicers. So I got one that will arrive tomorrow. Toot!

I'm so glad to see you on here. Good luck with your juicing! I've been doing a green smoothie every day for a week so far: spinach, protein powder, some frozen fruit, some fresh fruit, liquid (mostly just water). And I feel great just knowing I'm getting those fresh foods without eating yet another dreaded salad.

Yay! So glad you are back at it Al. You have to take care of yourself. So many people care about you and love you and need you around for a long time.
Mmmmm, now I want a green juice!
