I took a break from Sparkpeople for a while. I got stuck on a plateau and nothing would budge, so I got lazy.
Now about 20 pounds gained later, I'm trying to get started again, and I'm really struggling. I'm struggling with writing down what I eat, especially in the evenings, and I'm struggling with eating right.
Why is this so much harder this time?

I visited briefly with a friend of mine yesterday who I rarely get to see. She lost a lot of weight about seven years ago. I asked her if it gets any easier to keep it off, and she said no. Kind of disappointing. But then she went on to say this.
It's hard to be fat.
It's hard to lose weight.
It's hard to maintain your weight.
You just pick your hard.
I loved that!

So I went back to my doctor on Thursday, and she got after me for not taking the pain medication. Apparently, it was also an anti-inflammatory drug. Oops! I feel almost 100% now that I've taken them for a few days. I even tatted for a while today!
When I went back to work on Friday, I used the mouse left-handed. Boy, was that different, but I improved as the day went by. I'll have to make a habit of trading hands like that more often so I don't hurt myself again.
I'll be glad when I can get back to weight training again!
I'll be running/walking the local turkey trot on Thursday. Can't wait! Right now I'm back to running three 5-minute intervals each time I run. I'm so tempted to try to run the whole thing, but I suspect my knees won't agree with me on that one. I'm listening to them this time, so maybe in the spring I'll be able to run a whole 5K.

I shouldn't be sitting at the computer for long.
Monday in yoga, I lifted my arm over my head and something popped! By the time I finished my day at my desk job, I hurt. By the end of the next day, I hurt a lot, so DH took me to the doctor.
It seems I've sprained a ligament and/or have a mild rotator cuff tear. So now I'm home on muscle relaxants. I have pain medicine, but I don't want to take it. Call me ornery.
She also prescribed epsom salt baths, which have been wonderful.
My only guess as to why this happened is that it built up over time. I'm thinking it's all that overtime I put in, using the mouse ALL the day long, then coming home and mousing more with my online business.
Using the mouse and typing (along with quilting and tatting, alas!) aggravate the injury.
I'm doing a whole lot better, but I'm not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I get to figure out how to do my drafting with my left hand. It ought to be interesting. And my lead engineer called me today saying he was hoping I could work 10-hour days for a while. I don't think he was pleased with my answer.
At least I can still run.
Life is always interesting, isn't it?
