Answers to Prayer

Thursday, September 13, 2012

God has been showing me He loves me in such tangible ways lately. We prayed for food in August to help supplement our budget and the food keeps pouring in & from some interesting sources.

A couple days ago I mentioned I needed new t-shirts because many of mine had stains and today some guy that I didn't even know talked to me about a program he needs help with and gave me a new shirt. Seriously.

I have been praying that my husband would find some people to hire that are good workers, have the skills he needs, be team players and have high intergity and just today he told me he found two that sound like they are exactly what he needs. Really.

And I have been praying for the Holy Spirit to guide my daughter at school and help her to be a witness to the unsaved people that God brings into her life and she told me this week that one of her unsaved friends is asking questions about Jesus and wants to hear her testimony.

I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit who protects and directs my family!

Come, Holy Spirit. Fill me and lead me this day. Help me to do your will. I seek for you to plan my day. Protect me from those who would seek to do harm to me. Help me to be sensitive to those who need to be ministered to. I want you to live through me. Touch others through me. I want to be a willing vessel & to be the hands and feet of Christ...

Obedience comes first

Thursday, September 06, 2012

I am helping a friend homeschool her two sweet kids. I truly have a heart for them. They are creative, energetic, and excited about learning. I have helped one day and the only real problem is they do not want to obey me! This is a big problem. Their mom, my friend loves them for the same reasons I do (and more) but loves that they want to lead during the day. However, I know that whether curriculum is loose or structured, attempts to educate will fail if a child is not attentive to the authorities placed in his/her life.

God's word say that "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right." (Eph. 6:1) A life of obedience to God begins as learning submission to the authorities God places in our lives (mainly parents). Following God means to adhere to His word in submission and obedience. In Proverbs it says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. That means truly acknowledging that God is sovereign and in control and not myself.

God, please give me wisdom as I talk to my friend and help me as I seek to honor you by helping to instruct these precious children!

I am so thankful for:
1. A day off today to pray, read God's word and plan for teaching and talking to my friend.

2. I fixed a quick, good meal with food gifts from friends and homemade refried beans (Idaho haystacks & steamed broccoli)!

3. My evening walk with my husband -- we share and are active all in one.

Have a happy day!

Come as a Child...

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

Matthew 18:3 And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

A lady in my bible study last night told us that each day she starts out the day with a walk and an earnest prayer for the Holy Spirit to fill her and lead her each moment of that day. She knows that she cannot live without God's presence and guidance. She said, "Without God in each moment of my day I am merely existing and not living."

What a beautiful Godly example of living for Christ each day! I am not completely there yet in my walk with God but I do know how humbled I am at the magnitude of Christ's sacrifice for me on the cross at Calvary-- more than I ever was in my youth. More than ever before I know my great need for salvation because of the great sinner that I am. I am moving towards that point of total impairment without Gods' Holy Spirit guiding me each moment, as my Godly sister.

The epiphany I had is how this humility and complete dependence in Christ is very much like Christ describes "becoming like little children." A child is completely dependant on the one who takes care of him. He cannot live without someone who takes care of his every need. And that is how we need to realize WE are without our savior, Jesus Christ.

I express my thanks for today:

1. I am thankful for Jesus Christ who will never leave me nor forsake me!

2. I am thankful I got my boys haircuts. Noah, 14, shook the barber's hand and thanked him for the haircut and for meeting him. The little gentleman!

3. I had 2 long walks today and did my bootcamp! I didn't think I could because it was an unbelievably busy day!

Have a happy day!

Amen! This was a wonderful post. When I read that verse, I think about putting your full faith and trust in the Lord in all things, just as a child does in their own parents. Having my son brought me to the Lord because I finally understood things that about my relationship with God that had never made sense before. He gave me new eyes to see! God bless your day! =D

The First Day of School

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Today I have no time to spare. It is the first day of school and I am running on empty. We have been sleeping in all summer and enjoying our unstructured days, for the most part. Now we are back to waking up early and a day full of structure. I have a plan and I am sticking to it but I feel rushed and tired.

3 things I am thankful for:

1. God is with me even when I am not thinking about Him. He is guiding me with his spirit and protecting my children when I am not with them.

2. I am thankful that I woke up today and the kids did too. I prayed during my morning walk, which may be my last regular one for awhile.

3. I ate a healthy breakfast and drank 8 cups of water.

Have a happy day!
