Go Me!

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I am still under 160 even with the stress of the end of school events. It feels so great to begin to get things done at home. I worked on the garage today after church rather than going to work at the school as I usually do. I will be done at school by the end of the week. I will miss the kids but am looking forward to time to get things done at home. Reorganizing materials for next school year is a priority, as is finding as much for our church yard sale as possible. It will serve two purposes - getting my house de-cluttered and helping the mission fund for the church.

Great decluttering strategy! The last couple times I moved I did great, re, decluttering. This time I am being ruthless - have I used this item since the last move?, etc. I'm really using the opportunity and urgency of moving. I have given alot away to charity and am going to have Salvation Army pick up more.

You are doig great on your weight!!!!!!! Guess you will have a party when school is out.

Finally - The scale moved in the right direction!

Saturday, August 28, 2010

I keep telling other people to keep on even if the scale wasn't saying that they were losing, but I was becoming a little discouraged, even though my clothes were fitting more loosely. Now I have finally gone under 160 for 3 days in a row. Go me! If it stays that way for 3 more days I will move my tracker to show my progress.

Congrats on your release of that weight! I had a very long term plateau and finally gave in to it and am having trouble getting back in control and with all the trips to the city and season coming up, I am going to have to really work hard.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving and thanks for your comments on my blog. Watch out for those deer!!

Good for you!! I just got out of the 160s today, so it's a big deal!

I have a happy, kid-free nest as well, with a big dog, cat and husband for company :)

My son is 20, lives out of state (yippee!) and I am really thankful to have a kid-free life.

Living Consciously

Sunday, April 18, 2010

It seems that in all areas of my life that I have been working on, the key is to be aware and make each decision consciously - staying aware of where money is being spent, staying aware of what needs to be done in my home environment and being aware of what I am putting in my mouth. Planning ahead makes that much more easily attained - having a budget, having daily routines and having menus. I guess there is a part of me that resists that kind of structure but I am finding that the structure actually allows more freedom -"freedom within the framework" as a friend was trying to explain to me (not sure which book she was reading at the time). It seems that the more I put this kind of structure into my life, the more success and less stress I have. Hmmm.... I will continue to work on that and post any more related light bulb moments.

Lists are good for this! I am working on the same sort of thing...organizing...thanks for your comment on my blog yesterday and idea about taking stuff to a consignment shop. I definitely plan to do that for dresses worn at weddings, dances, etc. Might be good for dress clothes too.

I have never been a planner and always have stress in my life. My DH is always planning and never stressed. Maybe your friend is right.

I love my routines. I can eat the same thing every day and not get bored. It helps for me to keep things simple too. Simple food, simple projects, simple life and I'm happy.

I totally agree with you about living consciously.
I notice when I pay attention to even the simple things in my life I feel like I am truly living.
I'm glad I came across your blog for the reminder :)

I'm a big planner too. When I spend some time on the weekend prepping food for the week the mornings are much less hectic!

I love spring!

Saturday, March 27, 2010

It was a beautiful day today - a great day to get out and walk, and a great day to open up the garage door and clean out the garage. It is so nice to pull the car into it now. My crocuses and jonquils are up and the tulips look like they might bloom before next Sunday. The fields are being prepared for planting and there are birds singing everywhere.
Anything seems possible right now. Time to go and prepare for the week ahead - doing some cooking and cleaning out my closet and putting winter clothes away.

Another gift of time

Tuesday, January 05, 2010

Well, I guess I only post a blog when we have a snow day - LOL
I would prefer to be at school as I was supposed to have a new student starting today but I will make good use of the time. I plan to exercise for 1-2 hours and do some baking and quilting today! Snow days are such a gift of time - and I really prefer watching the snow out of the window of my house rather than the window of my car!

I too have been given a gift of a snow day today! Another gift was that James had school! Home with DH! Not doing much of anything.
I too was anxious to get back today. Miss my students!

It is also a gift for many kids that are over scheduled and need down time. Enjoy.
