Another Notch on the Belt

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Went to get dressed for work today and low and behold......had to take up another notch on the belt. I am feeling better almost everyday and when something like that happens it reminds me that it is all worth it.

Good work!

I remember the 1st time I didn't have to struggle to get my belt on the 1st notch and then the day I found out I could get the second notch!

Small steps, but they sure feel great!

Dont Quit

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

I came across this little inspirational poem today. I dont know who wrote it but it rings so true.

Don't Quit

When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your points a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the struggler's, when loosing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over...they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,
If you bite it, you write it....But don't you quit!

No More Medication

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I am so excited right now I am about to wet myself. I went in to the doctor because I had gotten the stomach bug and was feeling pretty bad and getting dizzy and light headed. Because I had colon cancer three years ago he went ahead and pulled some blood to run the series of tests just to make sure. He called me yesterday and asked me if I was still taking my diabetes medicine or my blood pressure medication. I told him that I checked my blood sugar and blood pressure several times a day but had not been taking any of the medication for about a month since both have been well under what they had been running. He told me to keep on doing what I have been doing and to stop taking the medication. Now, I dont think I have shed a tear over anything in over 10 years but I came as close to crying as you can when he told me that. Praise the lord for giving me the strength to continue to improve myself

Workout Buddy

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I am looking for a workout buddy that lives close. This person would need to be a shift worker preferably my shift (DuPont Schedule) or a millionaire that can take off work whenever they feel like it and live in the Baytown, Tx area. I will be joining 24 hour fitness in the next day or so.

Good luck! Maybe you will find someone at the 24 hour fitness and bring your new buddy to SparkPeople!

You are doing very well, but I am neither a millionaire nor do I live in Texas.
