Humph! What's with the SP points counter that doesn't give points for all 10 food items? Three times this week, I've only gotten 3 points when I've entered breakfast and lunch - today's totalled 8, but I only got 3 points. Oh well, I'm really NOT in it for the points, but it does make me wonder.

It's a pretty day out, if you don't mind very warm temps and increasing humidity. We took our local grandsons with us to the shelter today. I was delighted that we got 7 (9 week-old) kitties in from their foster homes. We're supposed to get as many as 7 more tomorrow. Whew! At least the newbies were all in crates/cages due to the fact that we still have some larger kittens in the room. I think at least another couple of them are to go to other rooms.

My younger grandson loves cats, and he was with me awhile, helping as I moved kitties from from one cage to another so I could clean the cages. Tyler knows how to properly hold kittens, and he was oh, so gentle.

Yes, we're minding both boys again today. When we got home from the shelter, I showered, then DH did. Meanwhile, I heated some hot dogs for lunch. Ok, not necessarily the most diet-friendly, but not too bad for once-in-a-while. I also ate a peach and some yogurt.

Tyler claimed he wasn't hungry, but I cajoled him into eating 1/2 a hot dog. He doesn't eat much these days, and I don't know what he may have had for breakfast.....they ate at home b4 DD brought them here.

DH took the boys to their house this afternoon so they can play w/friends, so I have a 'free' afternoon. Am debating whether or not to go to the craft store. Probably won't, even tho' I do want more yarn for projects I'm working on. I guess it can wait for another day.

Y'all have a great Sparking afternoon and evening!

You are teaching Tyler respect for animals and for that you should be proud. Thank you for caring and for giving your time to help. -- Lou

That is so wonderful that you are taking the boys to the shelter & they are learning to love God's creatures. Don't fuss when it comes to them not eating. They some times go through this phase & I know I don't have to tell you....

God bless & enjoy everyday!

7/4/11 evening

Monday, July 04, 2011

I hope you've all had a great Fourth of July. emoticon emoticon

We had the PA kids (sans one s-i-l) over for a cookout. Had a really nice evening with them. While we were eating, neighbors set off a few fireworks and our dog (who was outside with us) barked and ran around looking for the cause of the threat. Darby's not afraid of fireworks (thank goodness) but she's very protective at home. Fortunately, the neighbors stopped after a firing a few, and Miss Darby's back hair laid down again. Today was plenty warm, but not too hot. And there was a mild breeze, which helped.

Last night DH, two dau, 1 s-i-l and 2 grandsons sat on the Susquehanna River front, watching fireworks. What a great show, and the finale (where they shot off a BUNCH at once) was fantastic. Even the potty-mouth woman near us couldn't entirely ruin the evening. She was drinking, and even when her friend loudly told her several times to BE QUIET! motor-mouth kept up a running commentary on everything that crossed her mind. sigh. Oh well, even tho' she talked non-stop, at least her potty mouth cleaned up after a few minutes. I was about to lean over and ask her to clean it up......whereupon my DH would have disowned me.

Time to sign off and spend the rest of the evening with Darby and DH.

Happy July everyone.

In a few weeks I'll be walking (mostly) on the run/walk to benefit our church building program. (We're building a Family Life Center).

It's a 5K (3.1 miles) course, and I normally don't do outdoors, but I'm game to try this, my first such event. What's the worse that I can do? Since the event starts at 7:00 a.m., I figure I can get my effort in before the day turns too hot. (Cross your fingers).

I did all 5K on my treadmill the other day, and it 'only' took me 57 minutes. LOL Like I said, I'll be mostly walking. I did 25 minutes this morning (had other things to do), and another 35 minutes this afternoon, and I'm building the speed I can go, so yipee for me. LOL

DH and I went to our (11 yr old) grandson's baseball game early this afternoon - he plays in leagues from early Spring thru the Fall. Since they lost their game last Wednesday, I wasn't sure what to expect today. You should have seen it. I really felt sorry for the other team. Our guys were the home team, and while the other team didn't score at all in the first inning, I wasn't too surprised. Some games go like that. When our guys came to bat, they ran thru the lineup more than twice....scoring something like 14 runs. The game was called at the end of the top of the 4th inning (they usually play 6) because our guys had them beat something like 23 - 3. After our guys scored 20 points, they cleared the scoreboard, which is typical.

There's another game tomorrow, around 4. We plan to go to that one, too.

We're having most of the PA. family here Monday eve for a cookout. (We have a dau and family down South). Unfortunately, one s-i-l has to work, as he so often does on holidays. But, somebody has to be an EMT even on holidays.

Y'all have a safe, fun, safe, happy, safe July 4th.

Whatta day!

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

emoticon I stayed within my calorie range today! I spent 57 minutes on the treadmill, going the 5K I need to be able to walk (walk-run, mostly walk) on July 16th. I watched my grandson play baseball again tonight.

Whatta day!

No, I'm not always 'up' but today is was all 'up' and I gotta praise the Lord for it.

Lou (IUHRYTR) told me how to get credit for (real) bowling on my fitness page. I'd browsed it, but all it showed was Wii bowling. Lou told me to browse 'Sports' and lo and behold, it was there. : ) Thanks again, Lou.

I read a quote from Albert Einstein this morning: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." Makes me stop and think how much our actions affect those around us. My decisions can have long-lasting ripples in the lake of life.

Glad you found the emoticon. It's not possible for us to be "up" every minute of every day. So let's celebrate and enjoy those days when we are up and try to enjoy those days to the utmost. But let's don't get down on ourselves on other days. That is life. -- Lou

"The best laid plans of mice and men.....(something) go astray"

Tyler's babysitter (for most of the week) is/was hospitalized for kidney stones, and DD asked us to watch him again today. She got off early to take his brother to the orthodontist, so it wasn't all day. (Josh has other arrangements for child care).

As soon as DD dropped off Tyler at 7 this morning, he headed to the couch and zonked out.....until I finally saw his eyes squinting open at 10:00. Wow! What a nap. I cleaned all the hard floors this morning, and really worked up a sweat. At least they're clean again and I gave myself the day off treadmilling.

The three of us took Darby to the dog park, but we arrived to an empty park! Oh well, Darby had fun running around on her own, and sniffing everything in sight. We'll have to plan to continue to take her for socialization.

I took a sandwich to T's house and ate my lunch while he played on the XBox awhile. He wasn't hungry. um-hm. I did get him to eat a few bites of something (he'd skipped breakfast, too) before his Mom got him.

Y'all take care of you.
