Sunday's update

Sunday, October 11, 2009

I'm off Vicodin and just using Ibrprophen today. Hurray!

It's a beautiful early fall day, sun shining, breezy, temps not too high. I love fall. I love the leaves changing color, and then falling off, leaving interesting-shaped branches to be seen. I love the briskness of the temps.

Y'all have a great week!

Chillin'

Saturday, October 10, 2009

I'm on as normal a diet as I want to be, according to the oral surgeon. But that doesn't include chips and such. That's ok with me. I'm watching my intake today, but otherwise pretty much just chillin' because I'm on Vicodin for the mouth pain. It's all getting better, but I'm not up for (nor is it a good idea for me to) treadmill today. The Vicodin 'caution' is to not operate heavy machinery - I'm translating that to mean the treadmill. Hahaha!

At least I'm watching my food intake, and trying to make that good today. Looking forward to being fully recovered soon. Planning on taking my usual walk with my buddy on Monday.

9 Oct, evening

Friday, October 09, 2009

As expected, the anticipation of oral surgery was worse than the actual event.

My eating today is limited by order of the doctor, and of course, no exercise today; but I'm doinig 'ok'. I do have 'discomfort' - thanks to Vicodin to keeping the pain level down to that.

I took a look at the implant this evening (I'm curious, just call me 'kitty') and there's weird looking thing stitched into my jaw. Ok, curiousity satisfied.

Sorry to bore you with going on and on about this surgery, but it's been a big deal for me.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks to all who prayed for me

Thursday, October 08, 2009

I'm calm about tomorrow's procedure. And I dare say that the anticipation has been much worse than the actual fact will be. I have a VERY active imagination. : )

I've been busy today: cleaned the kitten room at a no-kill shelter (takes about 1-1/2 hrs to do it right), then went grocery shopping this afternoon. This evening my knitting group meets and I'm looking forward to the new grandbaby pictures one of the girls plans to bring.

I expect I'll sleep a lot tomorrow, since I'll be put 'out' for the oral surgery, and that usually leaves me somewhat groggy the rest of the day. Oh well, there's zero chance of going over my calorie goal for tomorrow! emoticon

When I had my teeth cleaned earlier this year, my dentist informed me that my body was reabsorbing one tooth. He sent me to an oral surgeon who removed that tooth (a molar) and implanted some cadaver bone to build up my jaw. Now it's time to have him implant the screw in my jaw in prep for my dentist to attach a new tooth (early next year). I HATE, HATE, HATE mouth pain, and not being able to eat right. BUT, I'm making plans for nourishment. I have a box of Instant Breakfasts, will be able to eat some soup, jello, and other non-chewed food the first few days. For pain? Well, the last time, the surgeon gave me Vicodin. :D That's the only bright spot.
UPDATED:
THANK YOU! all who wrote to me. Thank you for the encouragement and especially thank you for the prayer. I know prayer changes people and things.

:( I'm sorry. I hope you feel better. I've had to watch my little sister go through similar events. Hopefully it will all work out better than anticipated.

Ouch...i feel for you. I had a dental implant done about 4yrs ago, the procedure sounds similar to what you are having done. I can honestly say the pain after wasn't that bad. Just make sure you are going to someone who knows what they are doing and that they don't rush it...that can lead to more bleeding and trauma.
Best of luck to you!!
