Fun day today

I can tell the antibiotics are beginning to work - but I always take a long time to get fully over a sinus infection. emoticon But it's PROGRESS! I try to celebrate progress, no matter what it's in.

Today our grandson (almost 11) started in the baseball tournament. The first game was called after 2+ hr play so someone else could get a game in. They played to a 3-3 tie; but our boys were robbed. The ump called one of them out at the plate, when everyone (including the other team) could plainly see that he was safe. Oh well, that's what he's paid to do.

After other teams had played, Josh's team played someone else, and that time they won 4-2. Now, in this 'league', they divided the boys into "A" teams and "B" teams - the "A" teams were a yr or so older, and supposedly better. Josh played on a "B" team that clearly should have been an "A" team - they handily won ALL their games, massacuring the other teams for the most part. (It's not just grandma pride speaking). Anyway, today they played 2 "A" teams and held their own. I don't know yet how the tie will be handled, but think it'll depend on how tomorrow games go. Josh doesn't play until 3 p.m., so no body had to miss church. They play another "A" team, which lost today 2-0, so I'm excited to see how things go tomorrow.

Sorry - I ramble on and on, in case you never noticed. emoticon

We watched both boys tonight so their parents could go out to dinner, and we took the boys out, too. Learned that the (fairly) new restaurant won't see us again.....the food was mediocure at best. Oh well, you can't hit a bulls-eye every time.

I'm knitting/crocheting scarves for Special Olympics again this year. And am also knitting a scarf to go w/a hat and gloves that someone else made. Those will go to one of the local elementary schools. And I've promised myself that I WILL start my first ever pair of socks/sox by 1 November. I so enjoy knitting/crocheting each week w/a bunch of other interested ladies.

G'night, y'all.

I finally faced up to it and went to the dr this morning - yes, I do have another sinus infection. Nuts! I'm even running a slight fever - an oddity for me. The good news is that I'm now on an antibiotic; the not-so-great news is that it's one of the few I can take, and a side effect is possible tendon injury. So, I'm going to have to be careful for the next couple of weeks when I exercise; I mean more careful than usual.

On a brighter note, we returned to school for the 1st time this school year. We helped out in our grandson's 5th gr class yesterday, this time by listening as individual students read to us. Some of them read so poorly that they need the practice. It was a real thrill when we walked into the classroom and the whole class cheered our return. I didn't think they cared THAT much whether we were there or not. But it was a pleasant hr for us, as we renewed acquaintances w/the 5th graders. As usual, our grandson didn't even acknowlege us. He's at that age that family grown ups are just plain embarrassing! emoticon emoticon emoticon I still laugh when I think of the 1st time our oldest gave us the cold shoulder in public - we were at the mall, and she insisted on walking about 10 feet in front of us, praying that nobody would realize we were with her. Hahaha! Some of you know exactly when I mean.

Take care of yourselves - get flu shots, drink lots emoticon Have a great evening.

Sun, 10/17

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Well, we worked really, really hard this week - the bedroom took two coats of paint, then we moved everything back into the room on Friday. I'm so glad to be back in my own bed (the guest room where we slept for over a week is only a double bed - ours is a queen).

I burned so many calories, I felt I should have lost 5 pounds, but only lost 1/2 pound. Still a victory. But the biggest surprise for me (and a really pleasant one) was that I lost 1/4 - 1/2 inch in each of several measurements. Heeding what I've read on SP more than once or twice, I increased my calorie intake last week somewhat, to compensate for the abundance of calories burned.....I mean, I painted hours and hours and hours. Go look up that activity on your cardio fitness and see how many calories YOU'd burn.

Attended our grandson's baseball game this afternoon- they won again, of course. They haven't lost at all this fall, and next week will start the play-offs. They are a very talented group of boys.

G'night, y'all.

I'm looking 'up' even though 'things' are not

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

I mentioned yesterday that I'm struggling with some issues. Well, none of the situations have changed, but my attitude is a little better. (Thank you to those of you who prayed) . I thank God that He has kept me from gorging on bad-for-me food.....I'm an emotional eater. God has promised to supply all my needs, and I'm claiming that promise.

Since I've been burning so MANY calories with the painting job, I have allowed myself to intake a few extra calories, but it's not emotional eating (what a change from my 'usual'). Breakfast this morning was lo-fat yogurt with granola on top, a clemintine, V8 lo-sodium juice, and coffee (black, no sweetener) - not a bad start to the day. I know, the granola wasn't exactly lo-fat, but I wanted some crunch.

My DH has gone to his monthly breakfast-with-the-boys he used to work with (they're all retired now), and I'm taking part of the morning off from painting. Good for my soul. emoticon I'll get back to it later, and hope we can finish today so we can move furniture back in our bedroom tomorrow. Right now, I have clothes in 2 or 3 other rooms! Besides, our guest room bed is only a double, and we're used to sleeping on a queen....what a difference! LOL

Have a great 'Sparking' day, y'all.

I am glad that your attitude has improved even if the issues have not. God does meet all our needs before we even ask, so I know He has given you the strength to not eat because of emotions. I will continue to pray for you.
Enjoy the time off, I know you will be thrilled with the results of the bedroom makeover.

Monday's moan

Monday, October 11, 2010

I've taken a shower just now, so I may begin to feel human again soon. Before my shower, I painted for six hours....just took a 15 minute break for lunch. We're not finished yet, but at least we've made good headway today. That, and the fact that I burned a kazillion calories today are the only 2 things I feel good about at the moment. sigh.

Forgive me, I'm struggling w/something, and don't yet see my way out of it.

I do hope you all are having a great day, and I promise to continue eating as 'right' as I can.
