bedroom, continued

Thursday, October 07, 2010

Yes, we should have painted it before getting new carpet (which looks nice, by the way), but we didn't think of it. We are planning to buy paint shortly and get started on the walls and trim. The carpet does look nice, but is more mustard-colored than either of us thought it would be. Oh well, we think it'll 'grow' on us.

I had to watch out for 10 kittens this morning as I cleaned their room at the shelter. They are darling, and growing fast. I sure hope they all find homes soon, for their sakes, and because that would enable us to take more from the SPCA, etc. I hate to think that so many adorable cats have to be put down because there's no one to take them home.

Construction has started on the shelter's new dog house. We'll be able to take in twice as many dogs, and have two 'show' rooms, and just plain more space when it's all completed. It's going to take months, tho'.

Have a marvelous 'sparking' day, y'all.

Painting is a big chore but it will look great when you are done. I would help but I am messy!

Move-Everything-Out-of-The-Bedroom day

Tuesday, October 05, 2010

We're to get new bedroom carpeting tomorrow, so today was move-everything-out-of-the-bedroom day. It took 2-1/2 hrs and I'm bushed! To give you some idea, we have a headboard w/an attached light bridge, all attached to two tall (heavy!) 'piers' (or towers) of drawers. Then there is my tall chest of drawers, and my husbands HUGE chest of drawers. We also have a bookcase jam-packed with books. First we took everything out of the bookcase, the chests and piers, disassemble the pier-lightbridge-headboard then moved everything to other rooms.

I'm not doing ANY other strength or cardio exercise today. emoticon

Although it isn't raining at our house, it's dreary outside today. Think I'll curl up with a book and take a nap this afternoon.

Have a great day y'all

You can track moving heavy boxes etc. on cardio. I think you earned it!

I need to do what you just did--not cause we are getting carpet but just so I LOOK at everything in there and get rid of stuff we don't need! Congrats to you for finishing! And yes--that was cardio and strength work enough for one day!

e(xtraordinary) Women's Conference

Monday, October 04, 2010

I just spent a WONDERFUL weekend in Roanoke, VA at the annual conference. Friday evening we were splitting our sides laughing at Chondra Pierce, then thoroughly enjoyed a mini-concert by Mercy Me. Saturday, we had several inspirational speakers and another mini-concert: this time by New Song.

Although the conference was over Saturday evening, my friend and I stayed another night and attended a church where we were blessed by the Lord. It was great!

I had taken my small dumbbells and used them Fri and Sat nights, but gave myself the night off last night after we got home. I was bushed! So, I missed exercise one day.....I'd been consistent in exercising at least 10 minutes each day for the past few weeks.....one of my goals. I hardly regret no exercising yesterday at all......it was JUST ONE DAY!

This morning I treadmilled for almost an hour.....it's raining, today into Wednesday, so there won't be any outside stuff for me. Then this afternoon I donated a pint of blood.

I know many people aren't eligible, but I am, and having been a recipient many years ago, I know how important it is to do what I can.

I hear my housework calling, so will have to wait until later to spend more time on SP.

Way to go - one day away from exercise is well deserved. Besides, you did an extra long treadmill this morning.
Thank you for being one of those wonderful people who donate blood. My husband has only recently stopped doing it and I think you people are unsung heroes.

A happy report

I stayed ahead of whatever pain there was, and am not even on aspirin or Tylenol today. Thank you, God. I am MOST grateful. My mouth is still somewhat sore - not painful - but it will get better each day. Enuf dental talk!

Friday noon, a sister in Christ and I are driving down to Roanoke, VA for an eWomen's conference. I'm getting really excited. We went a year ago (10 of us from our church last yr), and had a fun, spiritually-uplifting time. I expect the same this year. In addition to New Song, we'll get a concert by Mercy Me. Chondra Pearce will entertain us, too. And there's a goodly list of speakers I'm eager to hear. Please pray for safety for everyone traveling to/from the conference (there were about 10,000 of us last year), and for the Lord to bless all our hearts. I know He has words for each of us; I pray for ears to hear them.

It was overcast all day, and I'm not sure the temp got all the way to 70 degrees, but it was a nice day inspite of the weather. We're expecting rain any time now, and torrents of it tomorrow - maybe 4 inches. Obviously they've issued a flood watch. Normally that doesn't negatively affect us personally, but you KNOW there are people out there who live in perilous places.

Good night y'all.

God is SO good! I don't have a specific thing to tell, but just that I'm rejoicing that God IS SO GOOD!

Just got home from yet another dental appt. (I think I'm paying for his 5 new computers all by myself). He finished the prep work for a new crown, but had to use a laser because there was 'some tissue' in the way. (Read: gum). I took some medication after leaving his office, so am hoping to stay ahead of the pain. He also slightly burned the inside of my cheek w/the laser!! I'm such a mouth-pain sissy. The reason it took over 1-1/2 hrs to do, and why my soft tissue (cheek) hurts so much is because it was a waaaaay back molar and hard to get to. sigh. ok, complaining aside. I'm grateful that he's able to take care of me, and God has provided the $$ to pay for it.

It was still rain-y this morning, but the sun is out (for a day or so) and I'm concentrating on that instead of rain.

Isaiah 46:4 "Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." NIV

Yes, God is good and you can rely on that always.

I so hope that you are feeling much better today. Like you, I am also a mouth pain sissy but thankfully I have a wonderful dentist who is very good at what he does and most of the time I worry about nothing.
Take care, my friend.
