Spent another long day in the car, but I hardly noticed it until we stopped. I knitted a little, then quit because if I knit for too long at a time, my 'tennis elbow' screams.
Then I broke out the paperback I bought (and started) the other day. Finished it tonight. Now that we've stopped for the evening, I realized I'm bushed. Since we stopped awhile before dinner time, I did get on the treadmill for about 40 minutes; then I ate too many calories at dinner. sigh. But most of them were healthy: some fish, a bit of meat, a full cup of cooked veggies, fruit, salad. Yes, I ate from a buffet.
We expect to be home tomorrow, and frankly, I'm looking forward to it. I generally eat better at home than when we're on the road. And, I more treadmill (or walk) more often. I'm finding that by treadmilling on a zero incline (as per dr's orders for now), and not going TOO fast, my hip isn't hurting as much. But when we spend all day in the car, I find I need pain medicine. Well, we'll be home again for awhile, so maybe continued following dr's orders will help heal the hip. I DO feel better than I did a few weeks ago.
God has been leading me to some excellent blogs by SP members, and to some special Bible passages. I realize that God is working in me, and as painful as it may be right now, if I remain faithful to Him, I will be blessed, and will be better formed/prepared for whatever God wants me to do. I try to remember how my kids hated to go to bed each night (not EVERY night), but I put them there because they needed the rest. I may 'hate' something I'm going thru, but it's for my good (and possibly to prepare me for service for the Lord). Besides, First Peter 1:3-9 NIV says it nicely, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope and through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Thought you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
And Hebrews 12:11, "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
And, Isaiah 43:1-3a, "But now this is what the Lord says - he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Isreal: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Isreal, your Savior..."

We stopped in Myrtle Beach, SC to visit with the m-i-l of our eldest. She's such fun and we always enjoy seeing her. We're trying to talk her into coming to visit - told her we always have a room for her, so she can see her son, d-i-l, and grandsons. : )
Heading towards home tomorrow. This trip hasn't been everything we hoped for, but I can't honestly say it's been bad, either. Got to see a part of Florida that we'd never seen before; and I now have another lighthouse climb under my belt. :- )
Y'all have a nice night and let's SPARK THE WEEKEND!

Hi from FL again. I did well at breakfast - fat-free yogurt, a clementine and oatmeal w/raisins. Lunch was a BIG meal, so dinner will be much smaller. The resort planned a big Island buffet for last night, but due to the rain it was postponed until this noon. (they also dropped the price )
I had coleslaw, a plantain, two small hush puppies, about 2 oz Jamaican jerk pork, and about 3 oz chicken w/pineapple, tossed salad w/balsamic vinaigrette, a small piece of roll, and grilled veggies (I recognized eggplant among them). I topped it off w/an indulgence of choc cake and fresh fruit. Ok, it was a lot of calories, but I stayed away from a few other selections of definitely fatter foods, so I'm feeling somewhat virtuous......at least until I track my nutrition.
Before lunch, we climbed the 105 steps to the top of a lighthouse (and I almost crawled down them again - I don't like heights, but love lighthouses.) This afternoon we visited the Henry Flagler Museum in Palm Beach. Wow! That man had money to burn, is all I can say. The museum used to be his summer house - all 60,000 sq ft of it. Fantastic place.
Haven't checked yet, but I'm hoping climbing the lighthouse steps can be counted as exercise; but even if not, I got the exercise.
Tomorrow is our last full day here, and after a boring presentation (where they will try to convince us to buy a unit - NOT going to happen), I want to visit the beach. Believe it or not, we've been here since Sunday afternoon, and haven't yet gotten to the beach. We just aren't interested in sunbathing, and I don't ocean-swim, but I do like to walk on the beach.
Today's rain hasn't arrived (yet), although it is promised as a sure bet. Maybe I can take a dip in the pool after dinner before the rain comes.
If you've read this far, you probably don't have enuf to do tonight! : )

Hi y'all. We're in southern FL, and had an 'interesting' day - went to a couple of places we wanted to see, but turns out that both are closed on Mondays. Soooo, we're going to try again tomorrow. We had a good lunch at a local seafood place. Loved it, but I sabotaged my nutrition for the day.
Took a wee nap this afternoon, then I used the treadmill awhile. Still can't go fast, but at least I used it! After the workout, my DH and I enjoyed the swimming pool. It was about 4 p.m. when the thunderstorm blew in. Was pretty fierce for awhile, but cleared off again around 6 p.m. so we went out to dinner w/out rain. I did somewhat better with food at dinner tonight, but still blew my nutrition for the day. (shrug)
This is as far south as I've ever been in FL, and I'm glad we came.
Darby (our dog) is at the pet resort again. Glad she likes it. We are planning to rent a RV in July for a few days to try taking her w/us somewhere. If that all works out (if we have a good camping experience and Darby does too) then we'll be looking to buy one. We really hope everything goes well, because we want to take Darby w/us when we travel - at least most of the time.
My dau who had to put her cat to sleep several months ago has apparently adopted a mini-pincher. Or maybe they just have him 'on loan' for now, I'm not sure. The cat they do have is as big, and heavier than Buster. LOL

We're on the road for a few days' vacation. Hmmm, do retired people get 'vacation'?
I'm working on my nutrition, but not doing as well as I'd like to. Tomorrow is another day.
I was BEAT last evening because I hadn't slept well Thursday night; but after getting a good night's sleep last night, I'm getting ready to get on the treadmill for a walk. I forgot my Aleve Thursday night, and awoke Fri in pain - which, of course, only got worse for riding in the car all day. Today was better, so I'm being diligent about keeping pain medicine in my system!
Thursday (at home) the high temp was around the upper 50's. Yesterday, we experienced 94 degrees. Hahaha! Yes, we're down south.
Y'all have a great Spark weekend.
