Eliptical can be diverse

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I did an eliptical work out this morning and discovered it's diversity by varying my posture and intensity. Push versus pull, no arms, squat, stabilize. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Half-hearted workout trumps no-hearted effort

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

I was just so tired today. didn't feel like working out. didn't want to run. didn't want to do crunches/stretch.

Didn't want to give in, either.

Made it to the gym- did a run/walk hard hill climb on the treadmill for 30 minutes. 275 calories burned. Crunches. Stretch. Off to work.

Great victory in my book.

Itchy and Twitchy

Monday, January 18, 2010

Am I imagining it, or is my body actually craving exercise? I want to move around- I feel itchy and twitchy when I am still too long. I WANT to do butt lifts in front of the TV. I want to stretch because it feels soooo gooood!

What the heck is going on!!!! emoticon

The body does start to crave exercise or activity after a time. What did they say in physics? A body in motion wants to stay in motion, a body at rest wants to stay at rest.

I've become enthralled with earning as many spark points as possible lately. I realized my points earned are largely devoid of wellness and other non workout/nutrition-based points, so I added some other 'Other' goals to my list in areas that I know I need work in....

... house work... yuck.

So, in order to earn points today I added Doing Laundry, Cleaning, Sweeping, Dusting, and other chores to my list.

I know that an orderly home adds serenity to one's mental well being, and I'm confident that earning points for doing the work will help me continue to improve in that area.

Today, to earn my Spark Points, I added 'Fold Laundry' to my appointment calendar, and then added 'Clean Something'. I cleaned my bedroom, folded laundry, started a new load, picked up, and made the bed for my Spark point today.

This is a particularly celebrated accomplishment, because today I was dangerously close from being overcome with "Do-Nothing Syndrome." I did manage to get my morning work out in, but it was down hill from there. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than a warm shower, warm blanket, and slightly rainy day, not to mention the urge to bake a cheese cake that has 2.5 cups of sugar in it. (Can you BELIEVE that the sweet taste of Gatorade satisfied my sugar craving instead!!!)

See?... Spark People truly saved the day!

Two work outs yesterday

Saturday, January 16, 2010

Had two smaller work outs yesterday and feel great about it. Weights in the morning, cardio in the evening. I also blew my calories up a little too much, but I've decided to let it go and focus on today.
