I've become enthralled with earning as many spark points as possible lately. I realized my points earned are largely devoid of wellness and other non workout/nutrition-based points, so I added some other 'Other' goals to my list in areas that I know I need work in....

... house work... yuck.

So, in order to earn points today I added Doing Laundry, Cleaning, Sweeping, Dusting, and other chores to my list.

I know that an orderly home adds serenity to one's mental well being, and I'm confident that earning points for doing the work will help me continue to improve in that area.

Today, to earn my Spark Points, I added 'Fold Laundry' to my appointment calendar, and then added 'Clean Something'. I cleaned my bedroom, folded laundry, started a new load, picked up, and made the bed for my Spark point today.

This is a particularly celebrated accomplishment, because today I was dangerously close from being overcome with "Do-Nothing Syndrome." I did manage to get my morning work out in, but it was down hill from there. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than a warm shower, warm blanket, and slightly rainy day, not to mention the urge to bake a cheese cake that has 2.5 cups of sugar in it. (Can you BELIEVE that the sweet taste of Gatorade satisfied my sugar craving instead!!!)

See?... Spark People truly saved the day!

Two work outs yesterday

Saturday, January 16, 2010

Had two smaller work outs yesterday and feel great about it. Weights in the morning, cardio in the evening. I also blew my calories up a little too much, but I've decided to let it go and focus on today.

Portion Distortion + Calorie Control

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I decided to eat lunch at my desk, and so while sitting here, I figured I would enter my meal in to the Nutrition Tracker before I dug in. Wow.... My best friend the Calorie Counter states that a Gyro is 630 calories! I hadn't even entered the fries or Iced Tea yet.

So, instead of eating those fries, I gave them away to the IT guys who are ALWAYS hungry. I cut off half of the Pita bread and threw it away. I scraped off half of the sauce. I figure that counts as 2/3rds of a Gyro.... 430 calories is more reasonable.

I am SO glad I did this. I ate a decent meal, but didn't go over my calories. I still have lots of room for a sensible dinner.

Now that I've been sitting here for 20 minutes I feel satisfied. I can't imagine how bad I'd have felt if I ate the whole thing and the fries AND the iced tea.
