Yesterday in weight training I let the mirror's reflection throw me off. Wow, was my form way off during various weights exercises! It was obvious that I had no muscle memory from a few months ago, when I was going regularly.
It took a concerted effort to focus the eye inward (I now know what the Yogis mean when the refer to the inner eye) and concentrate on the individual muscle groups that I was 'discovering' with my measly 7.5 lb weight- (I found you, Mr. BackFat. You can't hide from me anymore....). Once I was redirected my focus on how I felt (the burning, aching muscles screaming for mercy) and not how I looked, I was re-energized and re-encouraged.
Wow... all that mental struggle in the course of an hour...
I did well with my nutrition tracker yesterday- I needed help with dinner and luckily the SparkRecipe page saved the day!

I'm a Subway junkie- I can admit it. I could eat there every day- in fact, I used to when I worked there as a teenager. Right now, I'm DOWN to twice a week. The local Sandwich Artists even know when my office has casual day... what does THAT tell you about my frequency....
So there I am deciding what to order, with thoughts of my SP Nutrition Tracker in the back of my mind. I've decided.... I'm going to break tradition and order something exotic... "A 6 inch Ham and Turkey 6 on white, please..."
Then, the preparer asks a question that set off a heated argument... with MYSELF...
Voice # 1- "Hell YES I want cheese!"
Voice # 2- "Uh, absolutely not"
Voice # 1- "But I WANT it!" (and yes, it did sound like a whiny child)
Voice # 2- "Shut-up,! You're just a taste bud..."
Voice # 1- "It's only 90 calories..."
Voice # 2- "That's 90 calories farther from your goal, now Shut Up I say!"
..."No cheese, Rodolfo, and hold the mayo and oil too while you're at it..".
Victory is MINE.

Wow, I actually did it. I met all of today's goals, even with some schedule re-arranging. Feeling good!

Today's one-day challenge will be to stick to the meal plan I have laid out for myself. Let's see how it goes! If I do this, I will meet three daily goals:
1. Eat at least 2 pieces of fruit
2. Drink 8 oz of water
3. Stay within my calorie budget
4. Meet nutritional goals
5. Earn a bunch of Spark Points
Okay, so that's 5 goals... Now I have even MORE incentive.
Yesterday's nutrition was a complete bust, and was also a day of physical recovery (see previous post). On my past page, I have found that the Nutrition Charts were the biggest challenge for me (I started a new SP page to give myself clean slate). I always went over by one to three hundred calories.... it was always that one extra snack.
My plan for staying within my target ranges consistently is to educate myself on what's in what I eat, thereby expanding the range of food items that I eat... as it turns out, there's a whole section of vegetables that I don't know a thing about. Hence, the blueberries for today...

08/08/09- Made a conscious effort to dance, spin, swim and stretch today. Today was all about the body. Even made sure to take a mid-day nap, stretch, and hit the jacuzzi to relax the verrrry sore leg muscles.
I am in the honeymoon phase- optomistic, anticipatory, positive.
