Here's our latest trip to Beaver's Bend State Park, Oklahoma

And we just got back from Cleburne State Park, Texas

We were very blessed to get waterfront sites both times. However, the bad weather seems to follow us. Oklahoma was extremely cold and rained the whole time we were there. Texas was too windy to keep our awning open and a little too cool. We did enjoy the sunshine though.

Thank you! Loved seeing your pictures. I like where you were camped better than where we were in the desert! My nephew used to go to Bever's Bend when he lived in Ok.

My "Total Body Sculpting" DVD Review

Friday, February 08, 2013

I was fortunate to be a part of an exclusive list of SparkPeople members chosen to receive and review a free copy of Coach Nicole's new TOTAL BODY SCULPTING" DVD.

I felt the exercises were simple enough to follow but were very effective and challenging.

Nicole's instructions are easy to follow and I like the fact that she has two other trainers working at different levels. You are able to choose to follow the trainer with the level that best suits your ability and comfort.

You also have the option to complete the full 69 minute workout from warm-up to cool-down or pick and choose an individual workout that is best for you that day.

I would recommend Nicole's new Total Body Sculpting DVD to anyone looking for a basic, easy to follow workout plan that is sure to bring results in only a short period of time.

* NOTE: I received this DVD for free from SparkPeople and did not receive any form of payment for my review.

This DVD is now available at Amazon.com and at Target. SparkPeople members will receive 250 SparkPoints for buying the DVD at Target.

I was fortunate to be a part of an exclusive list of SparkPeople members chosen to receive and review a free copy of Coach Nicole's new 28-DAY BOOT CAMP DVD*.

I did enjoy the workouts. I found them to be extremely easy to follow and felt they were very effective and challenging.

The music was simple and rhythmic for the exercises. The set was very basic and the background trainers were great and seemed very experienced.

There was a variety of workouts to choose from and the modifications gave me the option to increase my workout or stick to the basic routine, based on my ability.

I have not, as of yet, tried the full 28-day workout plan but I did experience each of the individual sessions and was quite pleased to have the option to pick and choose which exercises I wanted to do.

I truly believe that following the 28-DAY BOOT CAMP DVD will provide great results as I am already seeing some changes in my body, just from the trial.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone looking for a basic, easy to follow workout plan that is sure to bring results in only a short period of time.

* NOTE: I received this DVD for free from SparkPeople and did not receive any form of payment for my review.

aaahhhh, yes...those lovely headaches when attempting sugar detox!

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

I had forgotten about those headaches that accompany the sugar detox. My body is NOT happy with me right now. It is so use to having it's way with the sweets but I stood up, as of August 1st, and said, "NO MORE"! WHO'S IN CHARGE HERE, ANYWAY???

I'm on my final stretch to achieve my last weight goal for 2011. With 5 months left in the year, I'm going full force to make it happen!

I am using what worked for me before. I am doing my "IN vs. OUT" plan which consists of burning more calories than I stuff in my mouth....1,000 calories more to be exact, each and every day. I was successful before, losing 1-2 pounds a week with this plan, and lost 32 pounds the first 4-5 months of this year.

I'm keeping my calorie intake each day to around 1200 calories and burning (thru exercise and normal calorie burn) 1000+ calories thru exercise and normal daily living. My meals are healthy and balanced. Water is also a big factor and with this heat, that is no problem. I'm not so much trying to get in a ton of water but the amount my body asks for. I will stay hydrated!

Also, I track EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth and I WEIGH and measure everything first! It is very, very important to do this, because it makes you stop and think before putting that extra "something" on your plate because you think no one will know but you.

I also make my menu out in advance so that I can print out my grocery list for the whole week and, thanks to SparkPeople, we are able to do this from our Food Tracker page. Yes, it is time consuming, but if you want to be successful, then this is very helpful. Would you rather think to yourself, EVERY morning, "what am I going to eat today?", or would you rather get up and see it already printed out for you and all you have to do is follow it?

One last thing, I also type up a sheet of paper, for each day, the time of day I eat or what exercise I am doing when. Then I check each one off as I do it throughout the day.

This blog is intended to pass along some helpful tips but it is also posted to help keep me accountable! I made the pledge to get to my final weight goal this year, and, after getting nearly half way there already, I need to complete this goal.

Thank you for reading my blog!

I get headaches whenever my calories are too low (not much of a sugar person).
Also- not enough calories-in causes plateaus.
I read one should never have more than a 500 calorie deficit.

What a great plan to tackle those last pounds! I especially like the idea of planning your meals. Sounds like that might also help talk me out of those "in between" my meals...meals. emoticon mary

I'm eating around 1200 calories total each day but I am also burning 1000+ over that. In other words, if my food intake equals 1200 calories for the day, then my total calories BURNED for the day should be at least 2200. That is 1000 calories more than I took in from eating. Of course, I do have to wear a Heart Rate Monitor in order to know how much I've burned each day.

This sounds like a logical and excellent plan, but if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious....(I'm a WW Points person) so I'm clueless at understanding calories in and calories out.

From what you describe, you only have an NET calorie intake of 200 each day, correct? Doesn't your body require at least 1200 intake without the exercise factored in? I'm sorry if this seems dumb, but from what I've read - I have been eating my Daily Calorie intake of 1290 and about half of the additional calories I burn each day - usually anywhere from 500 - 1200.

Am I doing it all wrong? I'm not losing much. (-.6 in one month). Thanks for your feedback. Maybe you can enlighten me.
