Slightly Frustrated - Please share your tips

I have been feeling slightly frustrated lately. Even though I am single and have no kids. It seems I have no time for myself. I put work (I work two jobs) and helping everyone else ahead of me.

I recently had a bought of stressed induced shingles. That was minimum because I try not to get stressed. The doctor said it was my body telling me I needed to start paying attention to it, and may not have been stress from work (I've been putting in really long hours, working through lunch, etc). I have not been diligent about eating healthy or tracking my nutrition. It's been grab n go since November.

Now I am in a foot / ankle cast so working out has put a little bit of a wrench into a fitness routine.

I'm curious as to what other members do to change the process from putting themselves last, to making them a priority. I'm also looking for help in what type of exercising can be done while wearing a foot / ankle casts that will still help me to build up a sweat or else create more tone definition since I'm not sure I am allowed in my gym while having the cast. (I did send them an e-mail to see if I can at least do upper body work, I'm waiting to hear back). P.S. The cast will be on for a few months, which is why I am getting frustrated and it's been less than a week.

    Buy a page a day diary and begin planning. Doesn't really matter what you plan initially - I started planning nice things - simple things and I reflect on what I want.

Learnt the reflective diary type stuff when I went back to Uni in my 30's and it has changed my life unbelievably... +Mark

New Year, New Me

I realize I didn't become this heavy overnight so I shouldn't expect the weight to come off that quickly either. I started this year 13 pounds lighter than last year. When the New year began I was surprised to find out from the scale, I didn't gain ANY weight during the holidays. Yes I ate the cookies, the pie, but I also ate more vegetables and proteins.

When I stepped on the scale today, I was surpsied to see I lost a little over a pound. If I do this every week, at the end of the year I will have lost over 52 pounds which would be AWESOME!

I am going to the gym after work to keep the momentum going in my favor. If I can do it, you can too! Good Luck!

Thoughts on exercise

I have a pretty hectic schedule. The joke is no time to relax or take a vacation so how in the world would I fit in exercise? I am determined to be successful with this program. I bought a few "Biggest Loser" dvd's to take with me when I am on the road for work. Then last week I ordered "The Wave". I like to do balance exercises with weights so I thought I would try it. From what I read on line it's suppossed to be better than a Bosu ball which I just love to use. If anyone else has used this piece of equipment, I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say about this.

I also have my pass to use the gym tomorrow so I am on the right track.

Yesterday I weighed in for the Biggest Loser challenge at work. To my surprise I lost 6 pounds. I'm still staying away from the caffeine Diet Soda and I do not drink nearly as much as I used to, so I am thinking that is helping. Tomorrow I am starting a daily exercise program. I've been walking alot, but I need to add more movement. So far so good.

Kicking the Habit

This is hard for me to admit, but I have had a 2 liter or more a day Diet Soda habit for it seems like forever. Last Thursday, I weighted in for this challenge at work and decided that was my last day for caffeinated diet soda.

The weekend was really rough. By the end of work on Friday I had an excruciating headache and went home to just tough it out. Saturday was bad also. I stayed in all day and only drank a few caffeine free Diet Pepsi's. I currently have only one 20 oz. bottle of regular Diet Coke in my fridge. I tried to tell myself drinking it wouldn't hurt since I was able to go without it for more than 24 hours. In the end I told myself NO, and walked away from it. It is still in my refridgerator. The goal is to kick the caffeine habit first, and then kick the diet soda habit.

So far it's been a struggle and I never would have thought caffeine was an addition, but I will admit I was wrong. So far so good, I am not drinking nearly as much Diet Soda (caffeine free) as I used to.

  I kicked the cigarette habit back in Nov. That first week was the worst but at least in didn't give me headaches. good luck on your goals, you can do it. emoticon
