My Latest Kick in the Pants: DietBet

Monday, January 28, 2013

It is so easy to just get there "eventually".

I am really enjoying using dietbet to give me a kick in the pants to achieve goals in a timely manner. All I have to do is lose 4% of my starting body weight in four weeks.

I have won 2 contests so far and am entered in two more. I just need to be sure to not let too much time lapse between contests or I will feel entitled to splurge before the next one comes up.

I'm new to DietBet but I'm really excited. Money is a huge motivator for me. I have a game starting on March 2 (it's Too Sexy for This Fat if you haven't found one you want to try in March yet!). I'm excited but a little nervous. I'm glad to hear positive reviews of the site because I was a little skeptical at first. Good luck!!

I just discovered DietBet this week and am signed up for my first game/challenge starting Monday, 2/11! Yikes! I'm both excited and nervous! Are you still enjoying it?

Congratulations on your success so far!

SparkChoach: Sabateurs

Thursday, September 27, 2012

We center a lot of special things at work around food. I told the person who plans a lot of these that I am following a plan from my doctor. I told her that my cholesterol went down nearly 100 pts and that I have to stick with it.
I think she gets it, but if she brings bagels for everyone, I will ask that they go in the breakroom instead of right outside my office door.

SparkCoach: Reasons to Lose Weight

Monday, September 24, 2012

Today I've been asked to examine my real reasons for losing weight:

1. I want to be healthy so I don't end up sedentary with health problems like my parents.
2. It wouldn't hurt to look good.

Yeah it is shallow. Sue me.

My primary thing is I want to look good too. Secondarily I want to stave off obesity-related disease. Keep on sparking!

I had to be honest with myself a long time ago on that one...yes, I would like to get my sexy back! So, I'm not judging.

But I am glad you want to be healthy as well!

Goodbye, Morris

Thursday, September 20, 2012

It's been just over a year since my mother-in-law's cat, Morris, adopted a grey kitten (BB). It has been fun to see our neighborhood bully show his soft side as he trained his apprentice.

Last evening, Morris curled up on the dog's bed and died.

I'm not too sad--Morris was 3-5 years old when adopted back in 2000. He will be missed, though.

I'll have to be sure to keep an eye on BB. He has been Morris' shadow for the last year and I'm sure he'll be lonely.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had to put two of my 17 yr old cats to sleep 1 week apart. Remember all the good memories, it helps.

4HB: Measuring Success without the Scale

Friday, September 14, 2012

It's funny that the SparkCoach prompt for journaling is measuring success without the scale. I feel like I have been successful nearly everywhere but the scale (Down 30 and up 10).

I am following 4HB for my plan but using the SparkCoach to build consistency.

Positive feedback that shows my plan works:
1. My total cholesterol went down nearly 100 pts
2. My LDL went from high to normal.
3. I went from a snug 16P to a properly-fitted 12P in clothes.
4. I prefer complex flavors over sweetness.

Negative feedback (from when I was getting sloppy about my plan) that shows my plan works:
5. I went to a snug 12P in clothes.
6. I am less energetic/more caffeine dependent when I don't exercise.

Looking at what I had in the first list makes me glad I am getting back on track.
