So yesterday I had lunch with my best friend who I hadn't seen in a while. I decided to celebrate and eat pasta in a "pink sauce" (an amazing creation of alfredo and marinara sauces mixed, for those who don't know. While it tasted wonderful and I so thoroughly enjoyed it, I did NOT enjoy the destruction it wrecked on my digestive tract, no the foul mood it put me in. So here is what I discovered yesterday: Even after just a few days of clean eating and calorie restriction, eating white flour based products is not worth it. The pain in my stomach and the feeling of hopelessness and disgust with myself for failing to do what I needed to do is not even worth the one meal. I know I am going to fall off occasionally, but I am thinking this experiment really will help keep me focused. I also learned that one slip early in the day is like a land slide - I then found myself craving sugary products and eating them. Oh yeah, I think i am much less likely to slip.
So I am thankful for yesterday. This morning it made me get up, make my smoothie with a smile on my face and pack my healthy lunch and snacks with joy.

So last Friday I blogged about how my husband and I are making changed. And I am happy to report: I am doing great. I don't have a scale at my house, so I can't tell you if I have lost weight, but here is what i DO know: i have been doing really good on my calories: most days I am below my limit, only one day was I over, and that was by about 100 (the day before I was under by 600, so I still feel ok with that).
Here are a few things that help me to stay on track:
1) Yeah, its expensive, but I buy prepacked fruit to take to the office. I go to the grocery store and pick up a tub of strawberries, blueberries, melon, ect. Its already cleaned and sliced. You just open and enjoy.
2) I found that my local Albertson's has a good salad bar where you pay for salad by the pound. I go there and make an amazing salad for around $7.00 - lean chicken breast included. If I am low on my caloires that day, I add a sprinkling (and I do mean sprinkling; about 40 calories worth each) of bacon and cheese for flavor and the added fat to keep the full feeling last longer. But I skip on high fat dressing. Most of my salads range in calories from around 300 to a top of 400 - including bacon, cheese and low cal dressing. This even included a side of the fruit I was talking about earlier.
I am trying to figure out which is the best iPhone calorie app - I have Sparkpeople which i like, Loseit! which i love the barscan feature, and tap and track. They each have different calorie levels, which drives me nuts!

WOW its been a really long time since I have been on here. I can't believe the changes the past few months have brought me. First of all, last year when I was doing really well, I had lost almost 70 lbs, with about 100 left to go. I hit a plateau that I never broke. Then I started a new job - a real, honest to goodness adult, 5 days a week, 45 hrs a week job. In an office - with nothing but women. Do you know what happens when you go from working out 2-3 hours a day, watching what you eat, to sitting at a desk, and eating chocolate your coworkers bring to work? Oh, you guessed it! As of today, I have put 60 lbs back on. Ugh. But me and my wonderful husband had a chat the other day and we are about to make some major changes in our lives: 1) of course we are rearranging our lives to include cooking healthy food and at least getting more active again. 2) we are actually looking at moving to a new state that promotes a healthier life style (moving from Texas where everything is fried, bbq, or laiden with cheese) to Florida where the beach and fresh fish will really help us; 3) we are raising our income so we can afford personal trainers again.
I have spend several weeks getting used to cooking more and making better choices. Yesterday was my first real day to completely stick with it and stay on track. I woke up with morning with acid reflux and a migraine. Detox rocks! But I took some asprine, made my smoothie and im off to the races.
Anyone have any healthy tips for office life?
Have a fabulous weekend!

So last Monday I posted that I had visited my doc and he had put me on metformin and was giving me lipo (or slim) shots. Well, this week I've lost 5 lbs of body fat. I don't think its the metformin, but it definately could be the shots. They make me feel great. Anyway, I haven't even really been counting calories this week (that started yesteday) but still, 5 lbs! I have been on a plateau for almost 3 months. I am super excited. And feeling very motivated. Yay!

I went to a new doctor this morning. I have been dieting and exercising for about 8 months now, and have lost a little over 50lbs. He was super excited. But my last blood tests were pretty bad, so he is changing my protocol. Instead of going strictly natural, he is adding in a few things to help witht he PCOS:
Metforming 500mg a day to help with the insulin resistance
I hate a Lipo/Slim Shot once a week (a cocktail of amino acids to help flush fat out of my body and liver)
and next week i start on an appitite suppressant so that way the 1200 calories a day I am allowed won't leave me hungry.
I am excited and hope this breaks this horrible plateau i've been experiencing.
Onward and forward. I am ready to get rid of the next fifty pounds.
