Well, I fell down. . .no, really. Then I got up.

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Took a flop at the park walking the dog. Rolled my ankle on a root sticking out of the ground and down I went.

All I could think was . . .Crap on a Cracker, that didn't feel good.

I'm ok though. You just gotta walk it off. It is kind of like all the other things life throws at you. You just have to get up and walk it off.

Praise God I have the legs to do it! Walk it off that is.

Hope you are all better! I fell when running in April--skinned both knees really good and then did have to walk home. That wasn't pleasant! Glad you didn't skin anything! (I'm getting too old for that!)

Good for you getting up and walking it off. Glad you were able to! Hope it feels better and maybe you do need to see about finding some support for your ankles. Keep on walking!

Oh no! I hope you had the small victory of nobody seeing you fall. That's the worst! Hope you're feeling better.

Glad you COULD just walk it off. My fear used to be falling and breaking a hip. But now, even though I have less padding, for some reason I don't have that fear so much. Funny how weight loss affects your confidence and outlook.....I'm liking it!

Ouch - that really hurts. But I've never heard of the saying "crap on a cracker". I love it!

Story of my life. emoticon

Well, after a rather long hiatus. . .I am Back. Just a false start I guess. Practice, I call it. Practice for the time when I hit it big! I have back slid a bit. But, whatever. That was then, this is now.

Today's little list of good things
1. I got up and walked the dog.
2. My hubby came with me.
3. My shoes did not get wet, cuz I stayed out of the grass!
4. the sunrise at 6:35 or so, was lovely.
5. Breakfast with my best friend Yvonne.

Today's Little list

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

1. The company picnic is today and the weather is great!
2. I saw a little bunny eating grass on the side of the road on the way to work, and he didn't run out in front of my car.
3. I got thru the performance reviews with my team and nobody got hurt!
4. got to wear jeans to work!
I'll pick this up a little later. . .
BTW - I'm pretty sure I should change my ticker icon from a lightning bolt - which implies lightning speed to a turtle!

Nothing wrong with a turtle...remember Aesop's fable? It's about reaching the finish line not the speed in which we do it.

I got it. . A new idea. . .

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

I'm focusing on the positive! Ok. . .So not such a new idea. but every day I am gong to list the good things that happened. At least for a while. I'll start now, and edit throughout the day when I track food and edit again in the evening to review the positive. If I do this for a few days or weeks, I will see how much good there really is hidden in among the thorns of everyday life. It will be like finding flowers in the weeds.

Today so far:
1. Walked the dog;
2. Beautiful weather;
3. A good night's sleep - a full 8 hours
4 lunch with yvonne.
there - it is not even 8:30 in the morning and I have 4. How many more will there be?
5. Mike brought Breakfast burritos to work for everyone (I didn't eat mine but it is the thought that counts!)
6. My arbitration panel adopted my schedule instead of my opponent's!
7. Lunch was delicious!
8. I didn't even feel like eating dessert!
9. We walked to and from the resturant - about 10 min each way- in the sunshine
And the list keeps growing. . .
10. I wrote my team's performance reviews in the sunshine on my back porch while sipping a little iced coffee
11. i watched some birds flying about my pine tree eating bugs.
12. I saw a beautiful orange bird today - not sure if it was a tanager or an oriole
13. I got chicken tender salad for dinner - yum
14. I think I did a good job on the performance reviews
15. the kids are all getting along
One of my friends at work asked me how it was going. I said it was going good because I decided it was going to be good. He said how did you do that? I said I was going to focus on the good stuff and not on the sucky stuff. TODAY -IT WORKED!!!!!

Great idea!! It's amazing how much we have to be thankful for that we don't notice among the stressors. Good for you!

Monday - Ugh! And yet. . .

Monday, August 20, 2012

I worked an 11 hour day today! Ugh! Good thing I started out at 4:30 in the AM walking the dog! 35 minutes! Yay me! and I ate pretty well today and had enough calories left over for a glass of champagne! YUM! We threw away the chocolate cake . .Thank God we had the power to do that!

Also, I found enough time at lunch to sign up for SparkCoach. I haven't tried that so we'll see how that works. 10 Min a day of accountability and motivation. I think this site could take over my life. . .And maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing (within moderation!). Better to be hanging out here then eating in the kitchen!

Overall - a tough day but productive. Can't wait for tomorrow - Oh Joy. . .Oh Rapture!

I would love to hear what you think of Spark Coach. I am close to joining. I think it is even free for a trial period. And you are right -- if something keeps a person from mindlessly eating, it is worth it. So...what am I waiting for?

It's hard to fit it all in but I'm sure we all can save ten min a day in other areas that we can spend on ourselves...personally, I waste a lot of time watching tv in the evenings and often I don't even like what I'm watching.
