I'm back!!

Thursday, May 02, 2013

I have survived & passed the horrible Senior project!!!!! I have completely fallen off the wagon. On the up side, I GRADUATE NEXT FRIDAY!!!!!!!

That being said, I have a lot to accomplish in the next seven days. I am actually moving out of my apartment on graduation day, and I haven't even started packing. Oh my! So, my goal is to not binge eat until I get settled where ever I'm going. That's it, that's the only goal. I don't care about working out, or drinking my water, or eating healthy foods. I just don't want to binge eat. I have too many other things going on right now to focus on any other goals.

I will give you guys more updates in the near future I hope.

Congratulations on passing that senior project and on graduating!! HOORAY!

Once you get settled in to where you are moving then you can hop back on the wagon and start getting yourself pointed in the right direction again.

A very brief update.

Thursday, April 18, 2013

The project continues. It was due tonight, but they are considering extending the deadline.

The original comments said I needed to be more specific, this morning I received an email that said I "have too many details, and need to narrow them down." I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!! I am eating somewhat better, but my exercise & sleep patterns are way off. 22 Days until graduation...I hope.

Good luck! Do you have a faith or practice to help 'tune' you into things? I am a Buddhist and when things like this arise, I focus my prayer on drawing out my best (my buddha nature) and connecting with the best (buddha nature) in the other person (like the examiner, professor, adjudicator or whatever) - basically you need them to 'see' your project the way you intended it. Anyway(s) - wishing you all the best with it - and sending you positive vibes!
PS - just seen that you belong to a Christian team - so probably Christian (!) - never under-estimate the power of prayer - go for it!

There's not much worse than conflicting reviews. How does one be more specific while at the same time narrowing down the details??? Best of luck to you :)

We meet again Emotional Eating

Events of this past week are beating me down.

Wow, I def. feel for ya... I remember plenty of times like this in college and I wasn't eating healthy then so for me it was easier to grab anything, but look where I am now... it was easier then but I also kept gaining weight in college and now am at my heaviest ever! Hang in there!

I know I'm a little late here. Sorry that you have gone through so much with that project, I know how much it sucks when graders send a paper back with vague language telling you what needs revision, makes you want to slap them silly.

There's lots of good food suggestions here and I'm sure you've gotten a better handle on that by now. Have you tried Thomas' lite English muffins? Lower in calorie than regular ones and good with peanut butter on them (can add raisins, banana slices, etc).

I hope that you're feeling much better than you were on Sunday and that things are looking up for you. Keeping my fingers crossed!

fruit bowl, yogurt, nuts, and oatmeal...easy no-cooking
(okay except to put on water kettle to pour over oats if you want quickie hot bowl)

- I get the jaw dropping effect of a straight A student second guessing herself in the final hour- it's awful granted, but you are an A student and I believe you will pull it off.

That's a bummer. I am going to throw all sorts of things out at you...take what you need and ignore what does not work.

I am sorry you are so stressed but eating junk and sugar is just detrimental to the process...not only your weight loss but mental capacity. You need to feed yourself for optimum results. Tuna salad sandwich is quick and easy with a glass of milk and a piece of fruit. Sugar and fat bogs down your brain and screws with your emotions.

I suggest you stop...take a walk...take a shower...cry or all three and reset yourself. You need your wits about you now. Could anyone else read this paper and give you a different perspective? Better yet... you read it again and perhaps having stepped away from it will develop a critical eye and you will flesh out something that perhaps is not complete. Asking for specifics usually means fleshing out an idea, providing examples and applications...expound on what you have....that's probably all they need.

Stop dwelling on the what you can't change the demise of your A. I am not sure what field you are in but the grade stops being important in school unless you are going on and need the grade point average. A "B" will suffice because it means you graduated and after all is said and done that is what is important.

Wow... I really feel for you my friend. You "CAN" do this! You can get through this, but................. you have to start eating right! A little coffee is OK to get your mojo going but then change to water the rest of the day.
Snack on fruits, vegs, protein throughout the day. Take a little 15 min. break 5-6 times a day to eat and relax.... then hit it hard again with a "clear" mind!

You've done 4 years of this and you "WILL CONQUER" this challenge. It's a big challenge, but doable!!

Hang in there and please keep us posted when completed! SPARK emoticon

I think you need to give yourself permission to NOT be perfect just like the rest of your fellow humans. It is a great achievement to get all A's in school but now you are beating yourself up because you may bet a B or C and you are eating junk food over it. Once you get out of College and start working in your profession, no one will care that you got straight A's but will only be looking at the work you are doing. There will be good days and bad days at work and you can't turn to junk food because you are having a bad day and it is not going perfectly. That's my take on your situation.

When things are going bad that's when it's most important to eat healthy to relieve the stress. Even running in place is a great stress releaser if you have no time to take an hour out of your day for a very brisk walk which will relieve stress.

Start giving yourself positive self talk and telling yourself how much better you will feel if you eat healthy while you finish your project. You may get a B but you will also lose a few pounds and that will feel GREAT!

It sounds like you know what you should and should not being doing regarding eating. The root of your problem this week is this project. It is stressing you out, which in turn is making you eat things you should not be eating. You realize that eating this way is making you tired and depressed. This is not helpful.

So...what kind of project are you working on? What is the topic? Do you have a support group you can reach out to that will give you some type of critique on your paper? Someone that can see maybe what your professor is seeing and give you their suggestions?

Well done for sharing and congratulations on re-setting your goals.
Something I find satisfying is either a bagel, with Philadelphia Cream Cheese and loads of cut up veggies (bell pepppers are great - sweet, crisp, colourful, juicy), or a wheat tortilla with hummus and dark green salad - like arugula or romaine and a dash of hot-pepper sauce! for snacks - I make little baggies with about 7 brazilnuts and 4 dried apricots which are really filling, snacky, easy to carry and have great textures. Celery with peanut butter and a few raisins on top (I think you call them 'ants on a log'?) - again, you get the crisp, juicy, crunch, fatty, sweet, chewy texture all together. Textures count for a lot when you're an 'emotional eater', right?! I also eat raw fruit and nut bars (Naked Bars here in the UK - I think you have Lara Bars or something?). Fresh fruit :D apple, banana.
Wishing you all the luck in the world with your project.

Sorry to hear about all of this. You sound like you have conquered much over the past 4 years so finish up your project, try to eat as healthy as you can until it is done and then you will just start over and you can do it.
Good luck and keep your chin up.

You guys are awesome motivators!

Update on my journey. I am glad to be home! I just noticed in this vlog that my face is starting to look skinny. Also, please notice all my trophies in the background. That was unintentional, but since they are there I might as well point them out. The big blue one is my State Championship trophy!

Thanks to everyone for all the motivation and support you gave me this past week.

COngrats on the small loss, which I see as a big win due to the circumstances you were in!!! WOO HOO for you! I told you that you if you can just push yourself through the week, you will be rewarded, psychologically if in no other way, but you earned a small loss on top of that!

Way to go!

In need of motivation

Not sure how much motivation this will be, but, try to think about how good you will feel about yourself when this time has passed and you can look back and think on how you kept yourself going, despite poor food availability, lack of motivation, etc. If you can just muster enough motivation to keep plugging away each day, you will feel so rewarded down the road for having made it through this time without giving up or giving in!

Oh I'm sorry but that sad food tracker ... I just looked at your "today". I don't know about you because you didn't say if you were hungry or not all day but me... I ate like that before committing to eat healthier and I was constantly hungry which led to constant snacking and you didn't even snack... which means if I ate that same exact thing I might have a really bad headache and be like really moody if I was forced not to snack lol.. hope it wasn't that bad for you.

didn't get your video, but I know the feeling when motivation seems to be on vacation. vigorous walk in the fresh air, maybe? or a qigong session in the morning? something missing in your diet? try reviving your dreams?

well, good luck anyway.
