Week 1 Day 2 C25K

Friday, November 20, 2009

I can't believe it.

First, I asked my littlest for her MP3 player again and she asked "can I run with you?" I told her, "yes, but if you get tired Mommy still has to do this. You just walk right back home." We live in a development and I keep my beginning runs simple. So, I wasn't worried. We begin the brisk walk. I keep one of my hearing aids in and the earplug in the other awaiting my "jog/walk" instructions. Trin keeps asking "when do we run?" and I tell her "5 minutes." when sure enough the voice comes on to begin my 60 sec of jogging. I jog and she says "Mom, I walk faster than that!"

Oh, to be 11 again and be able to there Ms. Soccer Queen! LOL When done doing 60 seconds and shins aching we slow down to a brisk walk...."what?! But I still want to run!!"

Good gravy! And here I thought I would have to send her home because she would be too tired. I explain to her the program and how at my weight it was a bit slower. She walks a bit, then "okay mom...let's go! You can do it! Move it Move It MOVE!!"

What?

Yep, my own personal 11 year old trainer. She could hear everytime my podcast said to run and she was going to get me trained to catch up with her.

We run again in two days and apparently I am not allowed the MP3 player without her running with me.

I wonder if this constitutes a reward system or do I ground her? I'll contiplate this as ice rests on my shins and she literally runs around the house singing: "Mommy's new trainer, mommy's new trainer!"

LOL!! Too funny! This sounds a lot like my daughter, who is 12, going on 30! I LOVE to take her with me to the gym, she's constantly cheering me on. Some times it gets to be a bit much, but I just smile and keep on moving :)

Go!

Surgeries on the eyes are done and I can see! That is a relief in itself, except what I saw in the mirror. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is. Per hubby's firm request, I have put P90X on hold. I have begun my first run session on C25 running program today. I hate it when my husband is right. Oh, the run was absolutely grueling! My calves burned and everytime Robert said on my podcast "are you ready" I would scream "no no NO!!" Where were those endorphans that were promised?? 200 pounds on my little ankles....my body is MAD at me!

But, I made it home in one piece AND although very sore (calves and shins) I wasn't out of breath too bad so I must have done it correctly. I may have to do this daily rather than 3x a week otherwise I will never surpass Week 1.

I promised my little one I would blog my progress and off to Wii fit with her for 30 minutes. Then my homework, housework, help kids homeworks and dinner, dishes, laundry....yadda yadda.

Gosh, I hope I look good for three weddings next year...I just keep envisioning the surprised looks....that will be my motivation :o)

Good luck!

Ready, Set, .......set....

Sunday, October 04, 2009

I just finished with my first set of college courses. I'm officially sure I am done with smoking as I haven't even thought about touching a smoke since July. Watching my weight go up and up and up tells me it's not only time to cut back on the food but to get moving.

So, my friend brought up P90X and is swearing by it. I ordered it today. I'm so excited to start it. I have been forwarned that it takes about one and a half hours of INTENSE worouts a day. My only fear is I tend to work out "in private". What to do when hubby and kids have days off. Then there is Thanksgiving with the folks..Go find a little room to work out in? Maybe I will do early mornings while everyone is asleep.

Not that they aren't supportive. They have been. The girls and I have been trying to walk at night with the dogs. Not very fast. Just a relaxing walk. I just get self conscience about working out in front of people.

I also want to begin the couch to 5K but can't seem to find that program. I found a sight called Active X or something. I just don't want to lose my money and no one on Spark People will tell me how to find it. Talk about frustration!

All in all...it sounds like a heavy load, but if I can quit smoking and go back to school. I can totally do this.

First step...get some beginner picsj
second step....stay blog happy
third step......GO!

Thank you guys. I had just found the link myself. I have terrible vision (surgery on the 23rd to hopefully fix) so it takes me a good 3x longer to find things! LOL So, sometimes I get frustrated. Thank you again and I will join the team. I really really want to get motivated and happy and fit at forty. This is going to be a birthday present to me!! emoticon

I just joined the team- C25K: Running for beginners! They have a link on their page that takes you to the C25K program. Here it is: www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/18
1.shtml. This seems like a great team to join, very motivational and arent all expert runners. Some are just starting out, like me. =] Goodluck!

My daughter is doing the Couch to 5 k program and she downloaded the instructions and music onto her MP3 player. It has really helped her to have the instructor counting down the minutes of walking/jogging. I'll copy one of her blog comments below:

I just caught your forum topic but I wanted to share what I've discovered about the couch to 5k program. First of all, it is AWESOME!!! I was very scared of jogging and in three weeks I am walk/jogging and feeling great about it. Also, I highly recommend using the podcasts that a very nice man recorded to time your intervals, which can be found if you follow this link: www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/pag
e6/page6.html

(This is the mp3 site, but there are also itunes versions available). They have hotlist music that is pretty great and it takes off all the pressure of timing the walk/runs.

I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to build up to a nice jog and who isn't bothered by taking their time at it. The intervals change a little each week but I am still walking more than jogging at week 2.

Oh, and one more thing.. there's a couch to 5k group on spark people and they are really friendly and supportive so check 'em out! I am so thankful that I discovered the program... a member reached out to me about it and I can already tell that it's changed my attitude about jogging. Yay!! emoticon

uh oh

I think a major do over is in order here. I started working out a bit more, but somehow the waistline and scale seem to disagree with the eating of breakfast and lunch. Thank Goodness I didn't go for snacks too or who knows where I would be.

Sigh, actually. I think it's the coffee, creamer, sodas, alcohol, beer and all the other juices and liquids that I try to ignore. Maybe I should just fast my calorie intake. hmmmm....

Here's my problem...they ae saying I don't eat enough? Well, phooey.... I like my low carb eating...
Oh...saw your veggie packs...lol... glad I didn't have any green bean caserole on Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful time...wish it could have been a lot longer.

I think my goal of one pound a week will have to work for me.

What the heck is Humus? Sounds really gross!

Your moma loves you! emoticon
