Guilty Conscience

Sunday, June 03, 2012

Ok, so I have a little bit of a guilty conscience today. :( I really love reading our fellow sparkers blogs, most give me inspiration and sometimes I try to give them inspiration too. However, I just can't seem to bring myself to comment on the blogs of users who state that they can do 200 pushups and 200 situps per day and such! I know . . . I should be proud and happy for them. I should give them goodies and accolades, but I just close the blog and move on to more needy or inspiring spark peeps. Most of us on here are here for the support we can get from other people like ourselves, but I can't help thinking that if I could do that many pushups and situps, why would I be in my predicament in the first place! And no, these are not people that have been on here forever and lost the weight. These are new peeps with much smaller goals than mine. Shouldn't make a difference, I know, but for some reason it does to me. Anyway, just wanted to share with those of you who read my blogs and see the needy individual I am! Forgive me my healthier spark peeps! :)

Not all of us have a lot of weight to lose, however, we may have other health struggles that sparkpeople is really helping us overcome. My biggest challenge is not weight, though I do want to lose a bit. My biggest challenge is fitness. I've never really focused on it and because of that have developed osteopenia (the early stage of osteoporosis). My doc says that walking 30 minutes a day and lifting weights will build back my bone density...

Just saying, you can't always *see* with your eyes the reasons that a person is on this site and needing your encouragement.

That said, my prior statement that seeing someone brag about 200 pushups does not impress me stands! :D

i feel so much the same way some days. i see others with pics of perfect bodies and running marathons and doing all these great exercises and really being successful with that side of it, and i feel almost defeated.
but i do feel happy for them and wish them well and continued success, then i feel angry with myself for being on sp for 2 to 3 years or more and havent really gotten very far....of my own doing of course....
and then i say why do i have to go for surgery when others can just count calories and work out ????
i guess its the same with many areas of our lives.....
but then i remind myself that while i see someone saying they want to lose 15 lbs and go from a size 13 to a size 10 and i think....well, i wont say what i think here, haha, but i tell myself that is their struggle, that is their goal and i shouldnt judge, and so i move on like you to someone who really needs encouragement or advice.

I'm the same way. The only people that I will friend is people in a similar situation as mine. If you're a whole 25 lbs overweight and you just don't know what you're going to do to fit into that size 6 dress for a wedding next month, don't look to me for comfort. I've got none to give you. (and yes, I know I'm a bitch. Even on my good days...)

Oh my goodness, don't feel at all guilty about that! Comment on the blogs that touch you or motivate you. Reading that someone can do 200 pushups would never motivate me. I'd rather read that someone learned there are four servings in a pint of ice cream (not one), and made the choice to eat just one serving (grin).

And by the way, I cannot do a proper push-up either. Not enough core strength for the lower part. I can however, proudly do a 20-second plank!

Very well said Linda! :) That is kind of my point though, I feel like I am able to understand and share things with those a little closer to my own plight. Thanks for your nice comments! I hope you are having a great weekend! :)

I love the picture of the puppy. So cute! So sheepishly perfect!

I know I get intimidated, too. And the truth is I will probably never want (or need) to do 200 push ups. At this point, I can't do one, but I know that I will be able to do them, eventually. I tell myself that even if the details are different, we share some the same goals. I want to be healthier. I want to be active. I've decided to look at it this way: It's not the differences that matter as much as the things we can share. And I remind myself (constantly) that each of us has our own journey.

Lazy Sunday

Sunday, June 03, 2012

Hello my sparky friends! I hope you are up and about (and more awake than I am right now). Stayed up till midnight watching TV with Pooh. (He is still sleeping!) That's about two hours past my bedtime! I am working on my second cup of Joe and planning a very relaxed day today. All the house work and yard work is done (for the week anyway) and I think that my body needs a break. Besides the grocery store, cooking dinner, preparing lunch and snacks for tomorrow and maybe straightening up the computer room, I have nothing else planned. Although, Leslie is calling my name . . . I think that I have become addicted (once again) to her workout DVDs. Who knows . . . I might do a 30 minute mile. I hope that everybody has a great Sunday! :)

I like her dvd's too.... have not tried them recently... but love being able to do a 15 minute mile when I walk outside.... and it is due to using her dvd's in the past. I have a couple of new ones I want to try.
I am so happy for you that you get a "lazy Sunday" it is nice to take a breather and spend time doing what you want instead of what you need to do...... Whew! Enjoy!

I guess you are. Is the mop traumatized? LOL

If you cover the head of the dog in that pic it would almost look like a turkey. LMBO

Avoiding another sleepy Saturday :)

Saturday, June 02, 2012

Yay! The scale likes me ALOT this week! Down 3lbs. ~pausing to pat self on back~ I love a good weigh in, helps to make for a productive week ahead. It's kind of like when you're tired of rowing and then you see the shore ahead. What do you do? Row faster of course! :) Losing the weight encourages me to keep at it! Planning some house cleaning and a good bit of yard work today! I will also make time for my girl Leslie Sansone and our 2 mile walk. :) I hope that all my spark friends are also planning an activity filled day today! Happy Saturday ya'll! :)

WTG on the 3 lb weight loss!

Remember the scale is not the only indicator of weight loss. You can measure or even the fit of your clothes and moving down in size.

The scale can be your best friend or your enemy. It can add stress if the numbers are not moving.

Keep up the great workouts and eat healthy and you will drop in size. emoticon

Good for you, 3 more pounds! I like your example of rowing to shore - you're absolutely right. Success breeds success! emoticon

And thanks for reminding me - I have the Leslie Sansone WATP video (somewhere). It's great for those days when it's raining or too hot and humid to go walking outdoors.

Happy Saturday to you. Keep up the great work!

I know I am as Leslie is in my daily rotation, trying not to forget fitness while still celebrating, I slacked on my b-day but on the plus side I didn't exceed my daily calorie intake. So today I will be having my butt kicked once more by Jillian Michaels...she does the body good even when its torture...lol! Wishing you more weight loss sucess this week! emoticon

Fabulous Friday at last!

Friday, June 01, 2012

So the gym was awesome! (yes, this is my favorite word) and I even managed to squeeze in 5 minutes in the tanning booth (don't judge me ~ these legs are so white it's scary ~ you'd never know that I live in Florida!) The gym workout really kicked my day off! Planning another 30 minute walk at lunch today! It's my half day, so the work day will be over before it begins. Wishing every spark friend a happy and healthy Friday! :)

Haha, you crack me up! Last weekend we were hanging out in this tiny blow up pool we have, I lifted my tankini top so I could expose my WHITE belly to the sun, my sons were blinded and stared at it in disbelief! LOL

Glad you had an emoticon time at the gym and enjoyed your tanning.

Have sparked filled day! You are doing emoticon! Keep it up!
