Day Four

Good morning ladies! Went to the gym solo today (baby girl was being a sleepyhead). Had a great workout! Chowing down on oatmeal, banana and toast right now! Another 700+ calorie breakfast. It is getting hard to consume so much food in one meal!! Me thinks that (as the old saying goes) my stomach has shrunk from being trained to eat smaller meals and is now rebelling against trying to take in so much food! :) I do not seem to be able to finish any of the big breakfasts. I will say that I do stay full through the work day. Hunger only returns when it is close to dinner time! Yesterday it returned around five (while still at work) so I had a peach and a yogurt to hold me over. ;) The diet does not say anything about snacks, but I figure that it is better to have a healthy snack (or two) than to go home and eat dinner like it was my last meal! :)

I hope you all have a wonderful hump day! I know I plan to! :)

    I've never subscribed to the three meals, two snacks philosophy. I think it is great that you are eating when hungry be it at 5pm - that imho is what is is all about, body awareness. Enjoy :D

Day Three

Hello my friends! Yesterday was better! Stayed full all day and did not search around for any snacks! :) Lunch was light, but dinner was normal (pre big breakfast normal). Just couldn't do a salad again for dinner! Stayed right around my maximum calories for the day though!

Shilo ~ You are absolutely correct, we are all different! Different in weight gain, different in exercise results, etc. The breakfast yesterday did not make me hungry at all throughout the day! It wasn't until about 4:30 - 5:00 when it was close to dinner time that I got hungry. Maybe I should have had that yogurt I brought to work for emergencies! ;)

Puddles ~ Why on earth would I be angry? I put this stuff out there to get your feedback (good and bad) and I appreciate you taking the time to read the blogs and provide input! As to the calories/fat/carbs, etc. Mine are not listed per meal. Spark gives me daily suggested ranges and I am within those ranges (mostly). Except when behaving like a rabid squirrel! Thanks again for your comments my friend! Never worry about what you post! I am not thin-skinned! :)

Jackie and TCH ~ Thanks for your support! I am going to stick with it for the two weeks that I had originally planned (unless I gain ten pounds this week!!) lol. :)

FYI ~ I stepped on the scale this morning and I am down .8 ~ so what do you think about that! :)

I don't have a digital scale, so unless I have lost (or gained) a whole pound, I can't tell, with my scale needle. It is too hard to see. The closer I try to bend down to look, the more that needle vibrates and the harder it is to see where it is. One of these days, I will invest in a digital scale.
Thank you for your support & comment on my blog, from yesterday. Yes, I only wrote about 1 day but if you remember, I also commented over the weekend that I celebrated my anniversary with too many margaritas on Friday (about 5, I think), so we'll see. At least I'm back on track.

    Can't wait to see how this works for you. Woo hoo on the .8 lbs down! My feelings are, no matter WHEN you eat the calories they are still calories in, and no matter WHEN you burn those calories they are still calories gone. As long as I have a negative number at the end of the day, and string those days together, I am a success! emoticon I've read many studies suggesting eating early and exercising early is better, but that just isn't how my body is wired. I'm a night owl and have to do what's best for me!

Day Two

So, here's the update on the big breakfast diet. Yesterday was not very successful! I was full longer, but eventually that wore off and I was once again eating like a rabid squirrel! Lunch was light and dinner was light, but I had a huge plate of nachos in between! Strike one for the big breakfast diet!

This morning was not as hard as I believed it would be to consume a huge breakfast! Especially, since I ate it after the gym workout. I ate a total of 746 calories without blinking an eye! The book says to eat your big breakfast within an hour of waking, but I have found varying information about this online. They all pretty much say you must eat before 9am. So I am sticking with that except on the weekends when I tend to rise later. On those days, I will stay within the one hour time frame!

I will let ya'll know later how the munchies go at work! I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday! :)

    I too have my doubts about this Big Breakfast diet. But I'm interested in seeing the results after a week or so.

If it's not successful, I just hope it doesn't set you back too much. emoticon

    Now, I am going to be very "sparky" here, and I haven't done any research into this "big breakfast" thing, but it kinda sounds bad to me. I think the calorie/protein/fat/carb guidelines that are recommended by your sparkpeople nutrition tracker (per meal) is the better way to go. No matter what you eat, your stomach will be empty in 2 hours (that is why when you are to take medications on an "empty stomach" that means one hour before or two hours after). And with this "big breakfast" thing, you have used up a great deal of your daily calories in one meal. This does not make sense to me and sounds a bit like a "fad diet" that we are warned about. I am sorry to be so negative, but it is just because I want you to be successful and I know the spark guidelines have worked for me and many others. Be patient. What you were doing before was working. Slow and steady. Don't be mad. It is just my opinion.

    I think we are all different. I actually find for me personally eating breakfast makes me very hungry later on and the bigger the breakfast the more hungry. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat either and I cannot figure out why.

Day one

Well, today is the day! Day one of the big breakfast diet! I am excited and nervous at the same time! I have never eaten the large amounts of food that this breakfast diet allows. I will definitely have to push myself through the week to consume a big breakfast before work. I did make some substitutions already today! I made homemade syrup and chose a banana over the brownie. Still a total of 759 calories!!

I hope all my spark ladies have a great Sunday! I am heading out to go visit Babygirl #1 soon! :)

Note: I ate it all, except about 6 bites that I absolutely could not finish! The book says eat until full but not over-full. :)

    For me, breakfast is by far the most important meal that I have in the day. I went to a very high priced nutritionist who told me that and I have follow it every since. I eat within 1 hour of getting up..never more. That being said, if I ate what you are having, I would be falling asleep at my desk and would wake up hungrier and more miserable that ever....obsessing on my next carb to keep me up for the day.
My breakfast always includes a protein and a healthy carb. Lately I have a muffin that can easily be made in the oven. It contains and egg , ground flaxseed, coconut milk and stevia for a sweetener and a little cornstarch. I totally avoid sugar. This breakfast holds me until lunch...(with a snack of 24 almonds in between. If i stick to this regimen I am most like to get through the rest of the day without a "digression" You may want read my blog on sugar and the nutritionist. I could be enlightening. So ..it may not be the breakfast that you are eating, but what is in the breakfast. Good luck!

    Looks great.... what exactly is the "big breakfast diet"? I am not really a morning or breakfast person... but it seems if most of the calories were eaten in the morning you would have longer to burn them? Tell me more *LOL*

Hope you have a great visit with BG1 and that Hunter comes soon.... I know mom to be is miserable in this heat... I know I was and my oldest birthday is July 29th... we lived in Northern California at the time with NO ac.......

Well, I lost three of the 4lbs from vacation. I am now back to 236. Probably would have been down 2lbs and showing a loss for this week had I not ate like a rabid squirrel! lol. So glad that I did not gain! It could have been worse and I could have just added on to last week's 239 weigh-in! :)

Here is today's breakfast!

A whopping 800 calories including the orange juice not shown!! Getting ready for the upcoming two weeks of big breakfasts. And let me tell you, I am full to the brim! :)

    Mrs. HoneyB...that breakfast looks positively and sinfully delicious and what I used to eat on the regular before trying to become slimmer. You must let me know how this works for you so I will be watching intensly for updates. I spie grits on that plate....love them smothered with cheese or butter, or cheese & butter or gravy or shrimp or steak...I can go on...thanks for this picture. I know what I will dream about during my nap! emoticon emoticon
