Not a happy water buffalo this morning!

Sunday, July 08, 2012

Good morning my spark friends! I am very happy to be home and slowly returning to my normal routine. Unfortunately, the scale was not kind to me. Apparently, after all that walking (sweating and more sweating) while on vacation, I still managed to gain back 4 pounds!! I am not exaggerating the sweating either, there were days when sweat was literally rolling down the back of my legs! And I really did not splurge and eat a bunch of bad things. Granted most of it was park food, processed and probably high in salt, and I had more bread than I normally consume in a week, but I did eat healthy snacks and did not consume more food than I would have at home. I must confess though, I did have three Mai Tai's at the poolside bar on day three. :) I just couldn't resist! But, I began experiencing some massive swelling of the feet and ankles the last two days we were there, which I just figured was from all the standing and being on my feet for long periods of time (baby girl #2 was also swelling). But I woke up this morning with my feet still puffed up like a water buffalo! Hopefully, the swelling will go down as I return to my regular diet today. :( It's weird, because my clothes felt looser and I do not feel 'fatter' (I am sure you all know what I mean by that), but the scale does not lie!

P.S.

I have lost 1" on my waist, 2" on my hips and 2" on my thighs! :)

Hey girlfriend - DON'T LET THE SCALE GET YOU DOWN!
Most probably the 4 pounds is because you're retaining water. emoticon
Get yourself hydrated and elevate your feet above your heart when this happens.
Also - citric fruits are good (grapefruit, lemons, oranges....) emoticon
I have this problem as well. It happens when the weather gets humid - my hands and ankles swell. I have trouble getting my rings on and off.

You are doing great and being realistic. We are not going to spend the rest of our lives never enjoying a cocktail or two emoticon
or a fast food burger..... emoticon
we just have to keep it in perspective to all the other food we consume during the week.

How long did it take us to put the pounds on? I keep telling myself that if it takes me two years to take it all off, that's OK - it took me 30+ to put it on emoticon

get necking that water, and i'm sure all the salt/processed food biproducts will disappear and you'll return to your former, slinky panther like self.. ;)

4lbs for a holiday isn't bad is it? i can do that for TOM for goodness sake.. ;)

always enjoy your lil splurges, thats part of life isn't it.. its getting BACK on track afterwards thats the key to success.. :) I have every confidence in you my lovely lil honeypot!! emoticon

I'm the same way, I think it's the heat! Just drink your water and next week will better!

I agree the salt... and of course we all know what alcohol can do too. You lost inches and that is awesome.... sometimes more important than the scale. Just get back to your routine and you will see and feel the difference soon.
One more thing is to remember muscle does weigh more than fat.

I think we all rely too much on the scale and get obsessed with it. But there is more than just dropping numbers. You are doing great and even though you gained some pounds back, you are heading in the right direction. Just remember that this only makes you stronger and that it takes a while to be perfect in our new healthier lifestyle and as you wrote earlier, you had a great time, too. I am convinced that a positive and happy mood helps us on our journey. Keep it up emoticon

Salt is the culprit! Once you have a chance to flush out all the sodium, I'll bet your scale has you dropping those 4 lbs quickly.

WTG on the inches lost! and I am jealous, I ate like a piggie on my vacation, why does my hubby only eat at buffets!!!?? lol.

Hope your swelling goes down, lie down and put your feet up, if you can.

Wow..you are brave for getting on the scale..I applaud you! Changes are if you drink alot of water, stay away from the processed foods...you will be back to where you started at the very least, in a few days. That is just not permanent gain.
Sounds like you had a great time..and that is what counts. Keep plugging along!

I agree - it's probably from that demon salt. I ate out for lunch last week with a friend - first time eating out in a couple weeks. My calories for the day stayed within range.

But I gained 1.5# from that one restaurant meal (which was 2 bowls of soup and one breadstick - not even a large meal). So it's completely understandable that you'd gain 4# from the sodium in 5 days' worth of meals.

Do your normal thing and I'm sure the scale will go back to normal in a couple days.

Nice to have you back!

Great to have you back! Hopefully the weight gain is from the sodium and next week your weight will be down! It's fantastic that you're losing inches. Good for you!

I really don't think you actually "Gained" weight. I believe it's water retention from all the sodium. I'm sure that with getting back on your normal plan this week, your next weigh in will show this past week's loss plus this next week's loss. Your looser clothes and inches lost are indicative of that. Please don't let that nasty old scale get you down. I truly believe it's just water. Scales are not always accurate.
Great job on the loose clothing and inches lost. I never did measure myself so I don't have inches lost to go by. I keep thinking I should measure but it's been months now and keep thinking there's no point now.
Have a wonderful wonderful Sunday my dear friend. By the way, I am enjoying my friendship with your Mom. She's a sweetie.

I'm back! :D

Saturday, July 07, 2012

Hi my friends! We had a wonderful vacation! I really enjoyed time away with two of the three baby girls! :) Pooh said he missed us ALOT! :) I am happy to be home though! I missed my Pooh, my puppy, my BED and my spark peeps! It was harder than I thought it would be to try and post on my page and blog while on vacation. Our drill sergeant (baby girl #2) had us all up and going at 6am and not back to bed till around 12pm! I was too exhausted to type!! :D I cannot even begin to tell you how my poor legs and feet feel right now! I should definitely not have any problems with the upcoming 5K after all that!! My calves are rock solid and refuse to loosen up! We did stay well hydrated and did not overeat! I have to weigh-in tomorrow as I did not have a scale at the hotel this morning. :) Should be interesting to see my weigh-in results! Well, I still have unpacking to do and need to visit with Pooh, so I just wanted to pop in and say hi . . i'm back! Below are some photos I also wanted to share. I hope all my sparky friends have been doing well in my absence! I will check out your pages tomorrow to see what you have been up to! Have a great night! :)

Heading out soon!

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

We are heading out in a few hours! Packing up the car soon! It's too hot to pack it up early! Placed a call to baby girl #1 this morning to check on her and my racing into the world grandson! lol. He is still impatiently waiting. She is resting. :) Hoping for an exciting yet uneventful vacation! Baby girl #2 called from Georgia ~ they are already underway, in route to the hotel. Of course she is on a rant about her sister ruining her vacation by having the baby early!! Spoiled brat!

I hope all my spark peeps have a wonderful Tuesday! I will check in on ya'll later! Time to wake baby girl #3 :)

Have a terrific vacation! Hopefully, Hunter will realize that, for his health, as well as yours, he can wait a couple more days. : ) lol Grandchildren are the best. The first thing my grandson, Alex does when he walks in the door is to run and give me a great big hug! It's such a treat.

Is this the first baby for bg1? I remember with my first I went in for my check up and had my oldest within 24 hours of him saying I was 3cm.......
What a joyful event... emoticon and I guess he is showing he wants his independence emoticon maybe he wants to come out with a bang and share the excitement of emoticon.
Regardless of what happens with the vacation... I know you will be thrilled for him to get here healthy......
Enjoy whatever happens!

Will we see Hunter during vacation?

Monday, July 02, 2012

Well, our little vacation may be cut kind of short! Baby girl #1 just called and said that the doctor visit today revealed that she is already dilated to 3cm!! Hunter may make it here before we return from Orlando! If that's the case, I will have to drive back when I get the call that she is on her way to the hospital. Rats! Selfish baby! :) Can't wait to see him and hold him though! Just wish he had better timing and that we hadn't already paid for everything!

Babies do things in their own time, not when it's conveniant. Your daughter may also stay 3 cm. dilated for the next couple of weeks. Keep us informed. Hugs, Jackie

Honey, I also have a grandson named Hunter that is due to be born this month! My daughter's due date is July 20. She has a check-up today and will let me know what her doc thinks. I'll be dropping everything and racing out to take care of my 3 y.o. granddaughter, when my daughter goes into labor!
