All hope is not lost after all!

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

All hope is not totally lost after all! Babygirl actually got up this morning and went to the gym!! Yay! Will wonders never cease! :) I was happy to have my workout buddy back (even if its likely only going to be every now and again, when the mood strikes her). Goofy girl said Monday night that she wanted to go to gym the next day. I had to burst her bubble with the news that I will not be changing my gym days to suit her sleep schedule! Besides, we had the doctor's appointment anyway. :) I hope everyone has a super day! This one started out great for me! Happy, healthy eating my spark friends!

Good for her! I tried to convince my baby girl to get up 1/2 hour early and we could go for a morning walk. She complained that she already has to walk home from summer school every afternoon (just over 1 mile) Waaa! emoticon

Dr. news was good . . not great, but still really good!

Pooh and I both are In a much improved mood today. :) The trip to Moffitt relieved some scary thoughts and concerns. The doctor said . . . the tumor has grown, but only by 4 mm - not a huge growth. The cancer is still only in the liver. They say that the only feasible option is to wait and see. They could remove his spleen, which would improve his platelets sufficiently to begin chemo again, but they do not want to do that as long as the tumor is continuing to grow at this slow pace. He is considered to be an unusual patient due to the very slow growth of the tumor and that the cancer has not spread to any other organs. It is God if you ask me! Lots of prayer is working! They recommend no surgery for the hernia. It will only be treated if/when it becomes acutely painful. Overall, very good news! I am much relieved. :) Eight more weeks until he returns for blood work. Thanks to all my spark friends for your thoughts and prayers! I hope you all have a wonderful day! I am going to sit back and hang out with Pooh and enjoy this additional day off from work! :)

On a downer today :(

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Today is one of my less than happy days. :( Went to bed early last night with a stress headache. Told Pooh and Piglet that it was a sinus headache, but I know from past experiences that it was a direct result of too much worrying. I have had a few of them these last two and a half years (since we found out that Pooh has liver cancer). We find out from the docs at Moffitt today whether Pooh's tumor has grown or metastized to some place else and what they will do about his newly found hernia. Since the blood tests last week showed higher cancer levels I am prepared for the worst. Hoping for the best but prepared to hear the worst. Since his platelets are staying at a low level, he has had no chemo for about six months now. Which leaves him at risk for tumor growth or spread. There have been too many days in the last few years of waiting to hear bad news. Baby girl (piglet) gets a little weird around these days as well (probably feeling my mood). She did dishes last night! That almost never happens (except when she wants something or when I am a little off kilter). The bonus of my going to bed early was that as I lay in bed I heard them in the living room joking and kidding around with each other which I love to hear. I can't help but think about the day that I won't get to hear that anymore. The day that Pooh will be gone. Sorry for the doom and gloom today my spark friends. I hope that everyone has a good day today. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Punk Child - Part II

Monday, June 11, 2012

Ok, so I am still at work and bored out of my mind! Only twenty more minutes to go! Since I have a few minutes, and after reading some of my blog comments, I feel the need to continue the discussion from this morning. I just want to clear up any misunderstandings about that sleepy headed punk daughter of mine! First off, she undoubtedly stayed up way too late (as she does most weekend nights) and secondly, it was HER idea to be more active in the first place which prompted ME to join a gym (not that I am complaining or anything! :)) She intends to try out for cheerleading in a couple months and felt she could use some toning!
::rolling the eyes::

I cannot really complain about her sleep habits though as she does get them honestly! EVERYONE who has ever lived in the same house with me knows that I am by no stretch of the imagination a morning person! An optimistic and generally happy person, yes! A forgiving and bright new day sort of person, yes! But a morning person, absolutely not!!
If spoken to (or God forbid touched!) during the first 1 9 minutes, you are taking your life into your own hands! After 10-15 minutes, my head has been known to spin and a low growling sounds can often be heard when approached! After about 16 minutes and at least one cup of coffee, I can begin to fully awaken to my surroundings. Even if left alone, it still takes me about an hour to come around to some resemblance of a happy person. I have always been this way (from birth, according to my mother) and so have two of my three girls.

I have noticed though that as I have gotten older (30s ^ up) I automatically wake earlier in the mornings (not less grumpy, just earlier). Must be some kind of weird aging thing! My mom used to call it her automatic alarm clock (she was up every day at 5am crack of dawn person her whole life I am sure!). If you want to hear something even stranger, as she entered her 50s, she began sleeping in a little later (like 7 or 8am).

So, to wrap this up SEXBOBOMB I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but one out of three of my girls was born waking at the crack of dawn and she has never changed! And she is 20 years old now! I still tell people that God gave us DD #2 to make sure that we three grumpy late day sleepers did not sleep our lives away! :)

I hope yall had an awesome day! :)

My mother was just like you. My 2 sisters and I were all in high school at the same time. I think my mom was a very smart cookie. We were not allowed to speak to her until 9 am. Nor was loud talking or arguing allowed. What a wonderful way to get 3 teenage girls out the door to school every morning with no hassles!

Punk Child

Monday, June 11, 2012

It's the first day of no school and the little punk has already abandoned me in favor of sleep! I can't say that I wasn't expecting it, but I had hoped that she would at least make it the first week! Oh well, I did fine by myself! :) We will see how she does the rest of the week. I may have to recruit a new gym buddy for the summer since I am paying for a daily guest! Could be difficult though as not many people want to get up at five to go workout at the gym. I will keep you posted. Happy Monday to all my sparky friends! Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Seriously, though, as the Mom of a 9-year old who regularly stays up later than I do on the weekends (and still wakes up at the crack of dawn), I am eagerly awaiting this shift from night owl to sleepyhead!

When, exactly, does this start? Because I'm planning on setting up one of those internet countdown clocks!

Well you know it is normal for her to bail at least for a little while..... mine sleeps as long as he can and stays up as late as he can *LOL* he has never been a morning person... just like ME. So I understand.
I would be up and raring to go with you if we lived close... A gym would be such a fun thing with a workout buddy. Maybe your daughter will go with you after she decompresses for a week... and then maybe if she wants she can take a nap later in the day?

Anyway, have a great Monday! You are still doing " emoticon"

My youngest is taking summer school because she wants to get some required classes out of the way in order take more electives during the school year. She was probably regretting that decision when I woke her up this morning!

I am not a morning person, so I can so feel your daughters attitude! More sleep is always a good thing!

Wish I lived near you because I would jump on that invite.

Hope you find someone to workout with.

It probably felt so good for your DD to sleep in. My teens get out of school on the 18th. We'll know by then if DD got a job at the camp.
