Discouraged a Little

Thursday, May 29, 2008

I just can't seem to lose that 10th pound! It's been days and still it clings to my hiny for its life! I feel like I could get going on my weight loss again if only that pound would drop! I think my fat cells are made of super glue.
It's true that I'm not the most patient person in the world, but I should have lost 10 pounds by now!

Keep on keeping on...loss is not always about the scale....Can I encourage you to take out your tape measure and go that route...I recall feeling exactly as you did until I took measurements....I'd lost INCHES!!! We CAN do this, my friend WE CAN!!! emoticon

Behind Again!

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

For Memorial Day, I (with help from my hubby) smoked a whole turkey. (About 11 pounds) We got up at 5:00am and by 6:30 the turkey was in the smoker. It took 8 hours.
I put the last of the smoked turkey in my sons lunch so he could share it with his co-workers who have been hounding him for some ever since he told them I was smoking it.

So far today, I got up at 3:30 and made lunches for the guys, put a small pork roast with potatoes and carrots, onion and garlic in the crockpot to cook for the guys' dinner today. I'll probably have salad with tuna.
I gave myself a body wave permanent and now I'm tired again.

Oh smoked turkey is divine and so good too. My husband does it and it is great. So I do know what your boys are saying and so to the friends. What is a body wave permanent? Are you getting enough protein? That may be why you are tired.

WooHoo! I have finally made it to fast break phase 2!

Iím still learning so much from this website and this morning, I finally decided to print out a suitable diet plan using the Sparkpeople diet planner. Okay, so it took me an hour to go through and figure everything out that I wanted and that was okay according to my plan and inside my nutritional guidelines! (I just love that it does all the calculations for me!)
I planned the whole day using the ingredients that I have here at home so I donít have to try to figure it out one meal at a time just before mealtime!
Itís really kind of fun doing all that figuring out what food to eat and all that, but it does take a bit of time to do it all. Actually though, it will save me time later in the day and I wonít have to worry if Iím going to be over or under my calories for the day!
This hasnít been a very successful week for meÖbut Iíve found out, through Sparkpeople friends and Sparkpeople resources, that if I donít eat the right amount of calories I wonít lose weight! Who knew? I was under calories for 4 days this week and I actually gained a pound over the course of that time. So now Iím back on track and going to be more careful. I am determined to win this battle and make my hubby proud! (Although he has never said anything about my weight, I know it would please him)

Okay...what happens is this:
I get up late in the morning (because I don't go to bed usually until 3AM or so because I try not to disturb my husband while he is sleeping) I have bi-polar so I'm currently in manic mode and require only 4 to 6 hours sleep anyway. When I get up, I'm generally not hungry, but since I started Sparkpeople, I have made an effort every day to eat breakfast; usually cereal, milk and fresh citrus fruit. (I love Quaker Oat Squares or Natures Path Flax with Pumpkin seed cereals) By then it's about 11:30AM so I head for the computer. I check in on my Sparkpage and Sparkmail and then I check the Sparkmail that I receive at my email address. By the time I'm finished with that, its 3:00 or later. I have to start fixing dinner for my husband because he wants to eat as soon as he gets home from work (usually around 4:00PM) So, unless I get up earlier, I don't have a lunch time, I go straight from breakfast to dinner. I usually have a huge dinner. Sometimes if I have gotten up earlier and I do get hungry, I will eat a bagel w/cream cheese and a fruit of some kind to tide me over so I can eat with my husband (at his request)...my favorite dinner that I eat about 3 times a week is; lettuce (2 cups chopped)then 4 oz of drained white albacore tuna. between 5 and 6 baby pickled beets cut up, 1 medium pickle (chopped), and 2 tablespoons of mayo mixed with pickle juice for a salad dressing (I'm weird I know, but that's what I like) Then I have 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese and a bagel w/1 oz cream cheese and an apple. That's a lot of food! I'm stuffed for the rest of the day. Sometimes I save my apple for later, but more often than not, I forget to eat it later then I'm a fruit short! That doesn't have enough calories according to the nutrition guide. Sooo, today I added fresh tomato to the salad. Some of you really thin people could live a couple days on this, but because I'm a big girl, my calories are a lot. However, they are about the same as what my doctor recommends. Anyways, I digress again, after dinner; my husband wants me to spend time with him until he goes to bed. My son has been staying with us too, so I cook him and my husband something different than what I am having (they don't like salad everyday. I do) then its evening and I head back to the PC and while away the time as quietly as I can until my husband gets up and leaves for work, then I'm off to bed. That is a typical day around here. It will change as soon as my hubby quits working, (which won't be long now). Then I should be able to have a normal day (whatever normal is). So see? I'm not cutting down on my calories deliberately.

Dieting to Date

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Tried not to be discouraged this morning when I weighed and didn't lose an ounce! I've been under calories for two days in a row, you'd think the scales could be a little nicer! I wasn't trying to be under calories though; I was trying to stay within my guidelines. Seems like I did better when I was eating more calories and grapefruit everyday. I ran out of grapefruit! emoticon That is truly a magical fruit! I usually peal it like an orange then carefully take the skin off each segment and eat it that way. A lot of work, but worth the trouble.
Anyways, I digress. Like I was saying, I was a little discouraged after weighing myself. However, after getting back into Sparkpeople, I snapped out of it and I feel fine again, although I was just under calories again today! Well...I won't have to make any adjustments by the time I lose enough weight to re-evaluate my diet! emoticon
Now I'm just rambling...
I just love all the wonderful Sparkpeople who have and continue to encourage me to date!
Hugs to all! emoticon
