Why is it, people like this never run for president?

What a lovely trip to the coast! The weather was delightful even though the ocean winds were a bit nippy yet this time of year!
I got to walk barefoot in the sand on the beach as well as walk on the boardwalk for the first time in over 10 years! The relatives we seen there were surprised because we had just seen them in September of last year when I was hobbling around just like I had been for the past 10 years. They even said I looked younger, I think they meant better, but it worked for me! LOL
My hubby saw the doctor today and was amazed at how much better he was since the last time and told him, “what ever you are doing, keep doing it because it’s definitely working for you!” He had a complete physical and when the doctor checked the nerve damage in his feet, it was totally gone! Last time he seen the doctor, his skin problems were constant, today the doctor could only find a couple places where some of the problems HAD been but for the most part you would never know that he had been fighting full body skin problems for over 30 years. The neuropathy gone, the arthritis pain gone, the uncontrolled blood sugar, normal; the doctor was amazed. I told his doctor that we had been following Dr Neal Barnard’s food program and he said “It is probably the difference in proteins that is healing you, keep doing what you are doing, it’s definitely working!”
Its amazing what affect our food choices and 3 months will make, isn’t it?

I’m so excited I just have to share this info with those who will take a moment to read it!
I don’t know if many of you know that for the past 3 months that my family and I have not been eating any animal products at all or not, but I can’t begin to tell you the benefits of eating vegan and how it has changed our lives!
I say “our” because for the first time since my husband was diagnosed with diabetes, his blood sugar is normal! On Monday this week, he got his lab results back and his A1C test came back 5.2 and that is perfect! Woohoo!
Also, neither he nor myself suffer from arthritis pain anymore since we began cutting out all cholesterol. We still have arthritis riddled throughout our bodies, but the pain is gone without the aid of drugs! Woohoo!
My hubby has only bone on bone for knees and he could barely walk before because of the pain…gone!
Also his legs and feet were always so painful from diabetes neuropathy, but the pain is gone! Woohoo!
Seriously, this ‘eating vegan’ has given me a new chance at life that I haven’t felt in years! I no longer suffer from the Claudication that had kept me from walking! Some of you may know that when I first began sparkpeople, I could barely walk from one room to the other, but slowly I have been able to walk a little here and there with great effort and much pain, but now…it’s totally amazing; I no longer have the excruciating leg pain!
We’re leaving for the coast to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary, and I hope the weather is pleasant because for the first time in years I want to walk on the sand barefoot! I haven’t been able to do that in so many years, and now that I can walk without pain, I can’t wait!
So that should explain why I haven’t been spending as much time on the computer; I have a new lease on life! I feel like God has made me privy to all these amazing discoveries so that we can enjoy life again and I’m so thankful! Woohoo! (My inspiration came from a professor who teaches medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine!)
I feel like a puppy with a brand new tail!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Hugs and good health~Dusty

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.
As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.
I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'
"That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it.
'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice;
I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.
Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of Memories!
Thank you, my sparkfriends, for your part in filling my Memory Bank; I’m still depositing.
'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
