Part-Time Job

Thursday, March 18, 2010

I feel like I'm treating this weight loss thing as though it were a part-time job. I go to work all day, and then in the evening and on the weekend HEALTH is a huge thing. Three weeknights each week I do 60+ minutes of cardio at the gym, followed by a nice long sweat in the steam room. On Saturday I hit the gym again, and on Sunday I go for a long walk. Also, on the weekend I do a big cook to make sure I have healthy lunches to see me through the week. Actually, I think I'm MORE organized with weight loss than I am at my actual job!

Massage - Owwwweee!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Tomorrow I'm working, then at 4:00 I've got laser hair removal followed by an hour-long massage at 4:30! I'm also thinking of going in for some physio but I never remember to call the clinic during business hours.

Daylight Savings

Monday, March 15, 2010

I think I'm going to puke.

I couldn't fall asleep until about 3:30 am, now I'm up again at 7:00.

Can I blame George Bush for this somehow?

Please do! And lump Cheney in there while you're at it! Refreshing post.

No. Blame the First World War. I think. Or maybe that was afternoon pub closures in the UK. I can't think because I got too little sleep. Heh heh.

I plan on upping my protein intake today to help sleep better tonight.

Online Dating

Monday, March 15, 2010

My friends have been constantly nagging me to do some online dating.

So, I signed up for eHarmony. In the past two months, I've been matched with four men (one of whom was more than twenty years older than me). Their profiles were all super-boring and their photos were not flattering at all. In a city of one million plus people, the best they can do is FOUR men? Am I that incompatible?

I put up a profile on Plenty of Fish. I get about five messages daily, mostly from men with no post-secondary education who can't spell, work in entry-level jobs, aren't attractive and/or have children (and wives!). I have TWO university degrees, I'm a published writer, I speak four languages, I make a lot of money, I like "intellectual" pursuits, and I put that all on my profile... what the hell are these guys thinking contacting me?

It's kind of funny... but kind of sad. I'm wondering if I'll get a higher calibre of responses when I change my body type from "average" to "slender"... I figure I can safely do that when my weight leaves the 140s.

Hiya - you might give match.com a shot too. I tried a few different sites and met a wonderful man here...we've been together for 3 years now :-)

just alittle note everyone is different its not always safe to go meeting people of the internet because you dont know whose out there. How about your work or some other way?

I met my honey online. However I never cared for eharmony as they are a bit conservative slighted for my tastes. We met through yahoo.

Don't give up though on a potential online mate. While my honey has a child from his former relationship he is also a professional nerd with an IQ in the 180's. His intellect is what keeps things exciting for me. We've been together now for more than 10 years. It's been great!

Best wishes to you -- don't give up on what you really want - you are worth it!

I'm not sure what city you live in, but many large cities have "match-making" services for professionals. They're quite a bit more expensive than the online sites, but you will (hopefully!) find some higher caliber men through them! Good luck to you!!

hey! thanks for your comment on my blog! You motivate me, knowing that you work out on the weekends so hard! Way to go! I WILL do the same this weekend:)
and thats so funny about online dating. i have a friend who started eharmony recently, and she's going to town, but also being picky (you have to!).
So what languages do you speak? and did you spend time in mexico ( i see from your pic of a vegetarian salad in d.f.)??? I lived there for about 7 months, spoke pretty fluently, but now that im learning hebrew overe here, sadly and to my frustration it is more difficult for me to speak spanish now:( i guess i just need to go back and it will all come back.

Anyways, have a great week wherever you are!
