It Could Have Been Worse

Bootcamp with a Substitute Instructor

- She has a pretty good playlist (lots of reggaeton... I think she teaches Zumba?)
- The warm-up was intense and we kept our heart rates up for most of the class
- I'm going to be a little sore tomorrow, though the stretch at the end was good

- We ended seven minutes early! Ummmm... I want a ninety-minute workout, not an eighty-three minute workout!
- There doesn't seem to be much order to how we do things, jumping between cardio and muscle groups randomly (or she'll ask the class what they want to do next).

All in all it could have been much worse, and I'll keep going until 2012 when my all-time favorite instructor returns! I should bring her a Welcome Back gift from my winter holiday (on which I will be looking ab fab, darlings!).

    I had a sub for my Zumba class last night! LOL. My experience was the same. Good but could have been worse. Can't wait to hear about your ab-tastic holiday emoticon Keep up the great work emoticon

The End of an Era

My favorite boot-camp instructor, who I credit with pretty much all of my fitness progress, will not be returning until 2012. Sadly, she's off for medical reasons. Instead we'll have a series of substitute instructors, and I'm really fearful they won't push me hard enough. Keep your fingers crossed for my workout, and my instructor's speedy recovery!

    End of an era or beginning of a new era! The future has just begun!

I have a challenge for you. My challenge is that you push yourself harder if you feel the instructor is not. You can also talk to the instructor about your concerns early on so that your workout gets to be as hard as you need it to be.

Totally-Not-Extreme Couponing (in Canada)

I'm starting to pay more attention to couponing!

Yesterday, I bought $150 worth of Starbucks Cards from Shoppers Drug Mart (in Canada). If you buy $150 in gift cards, they'll add 8,000 Optimum points to your account. This took me up to the reward level where you can get $60 in free stuff... and I'm saving my points for a day when they give you double (so I will get $120 in free stuff!). Plus, I get Air Miles on the purchase! And even better, I immediately came home and registered all three Starbucks cards to go with my MyStarbucks Rewards account, so I can accumulate free drinks and other gifts each time I use the cards!

Then, I went to Safeway. I was given a pretty random coupon book by someone I know, and it included a coupon for $5 off Safeway Select lasagne. Each package contains five servings and usually costs $10, but it was on sale today for $8. When I added my coupon, I only ended up paying three dollars! Now I've got a lasagne in my freezer that I plan to save for either right before my winter holiday (to avoid doing a last-minute grocery shop) or right after (because coming home to an empty fridge sucks!).

Yay for saving money!

I'm Going to Have to Start Calling it "HALLOWEEK"!

Looking back over my food tracker, I ate over my calorie range (WAY over, some days) for EIGHT days in a row, on and around Halloween!

It's nice that I'm thin and pretty enough to get lots of free shots at the bar... but did I really need eight shots of vodka AND two ciders that night?

Yeah, I got in a totally bizarre car accident (the cops laughed!), but I probably didn't need to eat an entire bag of chips afterwards just because I like to pretend that because I'm a woman I'm supposed to emotionally eat (it's not even real emotional eating... I just do it because I think it's the normal thing to do!).

And yeah, I did eat a lot of weird things that children cooked for me at something like a Volunteer Appreciation event... but I probably could have had (the REALLY yummy, vegan, gluten-free!) veggie pakoras just for breakfast (rather than dinner, then breakfast, brunch AND lunch the next day).

I'm also not sure that I needed to eat more than 400 calories of mini Halloween candies after said holiday.

I ATE LIKE A CRAZY PERSON.

People get institutionalized for less!

That is NOT the week of a sane, healthy, well-balanced, intelligent, attractive twenty-seven-year-old girl!

On the plus side, I'm weaning myself off the horrible things I ate, and for the last two days I've been within my ranges (AND I've been extra-good about getting in my protein).

I'm perfectly capable of going back to normal, healthy eating, and I will, and I'm not upset about last week BUT...

... I wish I had a time machine so I could go back to October 27th and shake some sense into The Old Me!

    I'm with you on the alcohol. I'm also attractive, even with the extra 25 pounds I'm carrying around, and guys buying me drinks comes with the territory. It's so hard to say no to them when cute dudes are buying. I end up drinking way more than I (or anyone, really) should. No idea how to get past that one, yet. I've survived these 2 months by not going out as much. The social life has definitely taken a hit. And all because I have no willpower when it comes to gin and tonic.

But glad to hear you've snapped out of the bad week and are back on the rails. :)

    I'm still "binging" from Halloween. I stupidly went and bought 3 bags....yes 3 bags of candies the day after Halloween. The idea was to take 1 to work with me and eat ti curb the cravings. Well, they are sitting around the house on my days off, taunting me and dammit, I gave it..alot. =(

Aaaaah!

My bootcamp instructor's iPod wasn't working tonight, and nobody else had one. I thought she was just going to test it out to see if the sound system was irreparably broken, but we ended up using my music for the full ninety minutes!

First, listening to music I LIKE is totally motivating!
