Even Harder @ the Gym

Monday, September 05, 2011

Today I increased my workout at the gym. (All machines have "levels" from one to twenty.)

Elliptical - 15 minutes at level eight, 5 minutes at level ten, 5 minutes at level twelve, cooldown. (I don't like setting it to "odd" levels... a bit of OCD there!)

Treadmill - Around the World setting, 15 minutes at level fifteen, 10 minutes at LEVEL TWENTY!, cooldown. Maybe by Christmas I'll be able to do my full twenty-five minute "hike" at the maximum level! Take that, Mont Blanc and Ayers Rock!

Good for you! I'm impressed! I still have not been beyond level 10 on the tread mill.

Butt-Kicking Hike

Sunday, September 04, 2011

Had an impossible time finding the trail-head today so we had to give up on the planned hike. Instead we headed for a more well-known trail and made it about halfway up before we got worried about sunset. Still, two hours of hiking, one was seriously uphill. Also, I realized I was in much better shape than my friend (who is much slimmer)... all that uphill treadmill walking has done me good!

How beautiful, I'm so jealous! I live in Texas, mostly flat lands!

Cool Down!

Thursday, September 01, 2011

I can't believe how much more comfortable it is to exercise when it's fifteen degrees rather than when it's thirty! The gym is cooler, I'm barely sweating, I feel like I can do cardio for longer... awesome! (The downside, of course, is that it means summer is over!)

Slightly Crazy Idea...

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Yes, I am single... and there doesn't seem to be a lot of progress in that area of my life (unlike with my weight loss!). However, I was thinking it might be kind of funny to go on the birth control pill. I haven't taken it in seven years (since I was a teenager), and I think it might be fun if I kept losing weight but my breasts got bigger too! Am I deranged?

I have to be on it regardless of romantic entanglements, and it's over-rated. hormone ups and downs, paranoia if you forget a day (if things change for you!). Not to mention the fact that most women gain everywhere, not just the breasts. I'd advise against going on drugs just for boobs!

Here's the problem though: For most women, the pill causes weight gain!!!! Yikes! That would certainly be considered a "backfire!" Besides, You want someone to be attracted to you for who you are, not your cup size! ;)

End of Summer Fitness

Sunday, August 28, 2011

I spent five hours at the lake today! I was very responsible with my sunscreen and I don't have even a touch of red on my skin- yay! I also got in a little fitness while I was there: we took a little pedal-boat tour, I took a longboard and paddled around the lake (that's SO fun!), and then I went for a swim. All of it was more leisurely than vigorous so I under-estimated the length of time when I entered it into my fitness tracker. I'm going to miss summer!

Oops - found some red on my feet! I guess I dipped them in the water too many times!
