Sugar Hangover

Whoa... after so many weeks of clean eating I forgot what junk food does to a girl! Headaches, heart palpitations, sugar highs and lows... This sucks! While I fully intend to splurge this long weekend, I need to remember the physical consequences (and not just to my waistline!).

    I totally know what you mean. I tend to eat organic ice cream at night and pay for it in the morning. It messes up my sleep as well. There are physical consequences.

Why I Hate Tuesday Night Step Class

(and also, why I haven't gone in months)

- The instructor doesn't think using the microphone is necessary.
- The instructor calls the steps AFTER she's midway through them.
- The instructor gets so winded that she can't call out the steps.
- The instructor gets distracted and forgets our spot in the routine... every three or four minutes.
- The instructor gives us "strength" training activities that I think are unsafe (swinging weights around too quickly, in particular).

I was going to fill in a comment card last fall, but I thought maybe it was her first few days or something. I thought I'd give her a chance to get it together, but it's probably been six months and her class still SUCKS.

    Ugh. I really hate when instruction is given HALF WAY THROUGH. So discouraging, especially for people like me who really, really need help, encouragement and instruction to get me through!

Hot Weather

I'm having a tough time adjusting to the hot weather! I'm finding that I'm feeling really nauseous during my 90-minute evening bootcamp, and then I feel even more nauseous afterwards! I'm drinking TONS of water (10+ glasses a day, plus a few glasses of herbal tea) and trying to stay out of the sun... but clearly summer is doing everything it can to kick my butt!

    Ugh, heat - we have that southern (almost SC, but I'm in NC) heat that just kills ya in July/August. It's not even here and I'm already too hot!!

I had to move my running and exercise workouts to the morning because of my crazy schedule this month, but I think even after May, I'm going to stick to running in the morning. MUCH, much better to avoid the heat...

    You may not be getting enough electrolytes. I once got violently ill because I was dehydrated from a long work out, even though I had been drinking plenty of water. Try Gatorade or another sports drink before or after your workout, that may help. Also, if you have a coach leading the bootcamp, ask for his or her opinion. Good luck!

TWENTY POUNDS DOWN!

I've lost twenty pounds since February 28th! I'm almost still on target for two pounds per week! Twenty down, twelve to go! At this time last month it was the opposite- twelve down and twenty to go.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- this has been a VERY easy process for me. And it will continue to be a very easy process all the way to 120!
