Pain... Pain... Where Are You?

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

I started exercising in August. At that point in time, after an hour-long class I was almost immobile the following day. I was literally using the elevator at work instead of going up and down a single flight of stairs... my quads hurt that much! Sitting down hurt, standing up hurt, bending over hurt, leaning hurt... every normal action was totally painful. I did a 90-minute bootcamp class last night, and in the middle of the class I realized that exercise hasn't hurt in a LONG time. Probably even since before I joined Spark, though I'm sure that upping my number of weekly workouts has made it a lot easier on my heart and lungs! This is pretty cool!

I'm off to bootcamp... with my cold this could go either way! Either it will be refreshing and revigorating, or it will knock me onto my behind!

Behind Schedule

Sunday, April 25, 2010

- I forgot to pay my cell phone bill last month (luckily I was only charged $1.50 interest).
- I sent in my car insurance renewal a week before it was due... and it hasn't been processed so I can't drive!
- I need to send in my renewed lease to my landlord, but I'm too ill to walk to the post office, I'm out of stamps and I can't drive down because my car isn't insured!

It's almost comical. My mom would kill me if she knew how disorganized I was!

I have had similar issues happen to me with bills before. I finally had to get a calendar and write down when I had to pay stuff so that I would not forget! LOL I can be very scatterbrained! It's nice to hear about someone else having the same issues as me!

A Trip to Costco

Friday, April 23, 2010

So I made another trip to Costco today. As a single person living alone who pretty much cooks just for herself, Costco is often overwhelming (and a little gross when you think about all that food). Here's what I bought:

Huge bag of frozen fruit (will use in smoothies as my current big bag from Superstore is almost empty) - $7 (about $4 cheaper than Superstore)
Head of cauliflower - $2.75ish (so cheap!)
Pre-cut fruit tray - $13 (this was a splurge, but if I eat it all it will be worth it... I HATE cutting my own fruits for some reason... HATE IT... pre-cut fruit topped with plain yogurt was what I ate everyday for six months when I lived in Mexico!)
Box of strawberries - $3.50ish (will wash and stem tonight so I can quickly add them to fruit salad)
Bon Appetit magazine - $4.46 (another splurge)
Ombrelle sunscreen (240 ml +125 ml) - $27 (thought I'd buy it now to get pumped for summer holidays)

My cooking plan is sort of to roast the cauliflower along with the other frozen veggies (carrots, green and yellow beans) that I bought last time I went to Costco, and serve that with the "ancient grain" blend I also bought on my last trip. That will be dinners. Breakfasts- fruit and yogurt. Now I just need to think of something quick and easy for lunches during the week- it's looking like only three days' worth next week! Yay!

I am a single, cook alone and for self, live alone kind of person too... so I understand completely the feeling that Costco is overwhelming. Mostly I go to Costco for dog food and treats! Love the plan for the smoothies (you should share your recipe!)

try what ever you have left over from dinner for lunches. That's usually what I do. I love Costco too. I get their meat.

Fighting Off a Cold

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Eeeew... I'm getting sick! I've been volunteering in the makeup department of our community theatre lately and I've had my hands all over the faces of 300+ small children this week. I'm 100% positive that's what's making me feel so icky. I've been super-tired all the time, my throat is killing me and I'm coughing up all sorts of yuckiness. Luckily I don't feel totally horrible (except for being exhausted), but I really want to fight off this cold!
